    I have a 2018 530e ...bought it new in 2017 ... its now 6 yrs old and its virtually perfect. Plenty of speed & torque to get around NY's crazy highways, and comfortable, quiet, 50+ mpg on average over a month. A quality car all around. Wd definitely consider another one next time I'm in the market for a car. Cheers

      2017 530e (9.2 kW gross, 8kW nett capacity) BMW app shows the car takes up only 5kW when fully charged from 0%. The range is 15km @12+ deg C. BMW already replaced half of the cells and claim this range is normal. At 0 deg C it gets 10km range. Should a good battery take up full 8 kW in BMW app from your experience ? @@amdsquad I get a full 12 - 15 miles on a charge (20-25 km) No cell replacements yet. Recently have been using edive "battery control" mode to charge while driving. After charged to 80% I switch to auto edrive.
      Haven't taken measurements yet but when I look at the state of charge left after about 20 miles in auto edrive I still have 1/4 left.
      In the past I'd use up the entire charge in auto edrive and wait til I got home to plug it in. So battery control while driving seems to help the distance achieved in auto edrive.

      @@donrondel8240 Thanks for answer. Do you have BMW app installed on your phone and if so how many kW does the battery take in from empty to full ? Did a test today in ECO Pro, heating fully off @ +4 C and got 19km. But I can’t imagine driving in freezing cold without any heating during winter like that. With some heating on I get no more than 15km.

    I’m a Mercedes E Class 220d driver, 2 months ago my car was involved in an RTC, my insurance company provided me with a BMW 530e, at the time I was expecting like for like and weren’t happy. However, it’s been 2 months of driving this amazing car, I love it, it’s awesome, so quiet and smooth and the petrol engine is nearly as quiet and smooth as the battery power, although the boot is smaller it’s big enough. I will be sad to see it go, had I known about this car before I would not have bought a newer E Class as I much prefer this car more. The downside I find with the BMW, the DAB keeps constantly cutting out, it’s so annoying, is this a common thing with BMWs, if there’s any BMW owners out there that’s experienced this issue have you got any advice on how this can be resolved? finally, the mpg is quite confusing, it says 90 mpg then 18, it’s just not clear enough, other than that it’s an amazing car.

    Can you drive this vehicle without having to charge it manually & drive it like a Prius engine? So whilst your driving the battery charges & uses electric & petrol combined?

    • @ISITWORTHITUK
      @ISITWORTHITUK  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching and commenting. We are here to help. As this is the plug-in hybrid you would need to charge the BMW at a charging port or at home to use the pure electric range. If you have no charge and the battery is on empty you won’t be able to use the hybrid setup to its full capability and you will just be using the petrol engine with the dead weight of the battery which won’t be helping your mpg. For example say even though you have no charge left whenever you brake as normal in the car the kinetic energy from braking will be stored back into the battery but this will just be very little amounts so a full charge would be needed. I hope this helps.

    • @ISITWORTHITUK
      @ISITWORTHITUK  Рік тому

      Extra: Yes you can use it as a sort of mild hybrid but because you have a bigger battery compared to say a Prius you won’t be seeing the same mpg due to the weight of the battery. So your either better off with a mild hybrid where you don’t need to charge it or a full hybrid where you charge it regularly.

    Hello. What is the fuel economy in mpg or L/100 after the battery is depleted? Can you still drive it in a “hybrid” mode?

    • @ISITWORTHITUK
      @ISITWORTHITUK  Рік тому

      Hi Bryan, thanks for watching and great questions. As this is the full plug in hybrid BMW claim around 30 miles when fully charged on full electric mode only and only up to 80mph. Then when battery is depleted you won’t be able to use electric only mode and looking around 150mpg and 180mpg with full electric.
      When battery is depleted you will still be able to use hybrid as when you brake the regenerative breaking will store the Kinetic energy back into the battery. Even with no electric stored in the battery you will drive in auto and when the battery charges whilst you drive the electric motors kick in automatically when needed. Hope this helps 👍

    • @sky_Tater
      @sky_Tater Рік тому +1

      @@ISITWORTHITUK right, so let's say you have fully depleted the battery. What will your highway MPG be at say 70mph? Is it the BMW "530i" claim of roughly 33mpg?
      Or are we looking at hybrid numbers of say 35-40mpg?
      Am I backwards and we're realistically looking at 28-30mpg?
      All of these questions relate to highway. I understand the basic hybrid city mpg numbers and how the regenerative braking works. Thank you!

    • @ISITWORTHITUK
      @ISITWORTHITUK  Рік тому

      @@sky_Tater Hi Bryan, Because of the added weight of the battery and that you are predominately going to be using the petrol engine in this situation on the highway.
      I would realistically say around the lower end of 28-30mpg. Obviously this figure would lower or heighten due to how you accelerate/drive. The BMW also has an added special feature where you are able to plan your route and it will calculate the most fuel efficient driving style and route for you using the inbuilt IDRIVE SAT-NAV. This will then throughout the trip effectively add and drip feed the electric motor whilst driving. This can only be used with the inbuilt software you cant do this with apple car play etc.
      Hope this helps👍

      Hi thanks for commenting, you can’t manually switch to fuel only. The car automatically starts in electric but will usually kick into fuel or mix of both when needed. However you can switch to full electric for however long the battery will last. If you stick it into sport mode the engine will be more dominant.

      We did cover this in previous videos however after much deliberation we decided not to delve into this as much as we wanted to, as all cars at some point face reliability issues and as videos age some become an easy target for unhelpful comments. However if there is something that you know of or is an issue please comment 👇

      @@rogerbarson5585 Thanks for understanding as the channel grows we would like to do more of this. In general I drive a hybrid as my daily and has just been serviced. There is no difference to what you would do usually in terms of handing over the car to the dealership or garage and them checking it over. If your on about if there is more room for things to go wrong as it being a hybrid and potentially be expensive because its a BMW, I don’t think there is much that can go wrong with the plugin hybrid unless there is a fault which appear on the dash and would most likely be a warranty issue. Before buying just ask about the warranty etc but don’t let it put you off. If there has been issue reported they are minor as from research this came 49th out 75 for owner satisfaction from a 2021 survey.

    I bought a new one in 2019, now the mileage is 50,000, to be honest, I can’t wait until I get rid of it, the car does not run at all at stock, the gasoline engine is derated to 184 horses 😢 and on a dead battery it’s cotton wool and not a BMW, after a month of use I went and made a stage 1 has become 340l/550 torque, now you can overtake... the same engine on the seven 248 horses,
    Therefore, with chip tuning, the restrictions of eco 6 and so on, which choke the engine initially without any consequences, are simply removed. The battery is useless junk; if you live or work further than 10 km in one direction, then there is no point in it; in the summer with the air conditioning turned off, the maximum I could drive on a flat road at a speed of 75 km/h was 22 km. Battery 9.2 kW. So if you are buying this car in hopes of saving money, this is definitely not about this BMW, without a chip it is heavy and weak in turns, a small tank of 40 liters at 500 km, a small trunk, I really regretted that I bought this bucket😢 fuel consumption in battery control mode 12 -16 liters average consumption per 10,000 km is about 8.4 liters I use a second hybrid car Mercedes E300 old 2015 non-plug-in hybrid its consumption is 5.2 and you can drive 1,200 km on a tank
    After replacing the front pads after 10,000, they begin to rattle just like they did on the old Chryslers😢 the charging port closing cover is constantly buggy, even though it is closed, it always says that it is open. Fortunately, the car is under warranty, but I have to constantly go to the service center to erase the error. The electric steering wheel adjustment is constantly buggy and does not go down to the previous position, you have to start and turn off the car several times for it to work, the memory function of the seats is the same, there is no sound insulation for the rear wheel arches at a speed of 130 km/h, it is very noisy, like in a golf course, due to the cutouts of the front fenders The car is always dirty, I can list the disadvantages for a long time. in general, there were no serious breakdowns, I don’t know if it’s just me, but the skin at 50,000 already looks sadly worn. although this is Napa leather, these are really reviewers who were allowed to honk on a car that he won’t buy because a beggar...praises this car😂 530i, by the way, costs exactly the same two-liter engine only with less distortion, the same goes for the hybrid BMW seven with a plug-in charging port😢 It’s sad that people are pouring water into your ears without understanding the topic. Such delight is very similar to the delight of the Indians who brought a mirror and beads; any Chinese car of this class will tear any European auto industry to rags, all these options that may be present here are present in the cheap version of the Toyota Yaris Renault megane and so on the car is highly overrated have a great day everyone and be safe on the road

      Thanks for the comment, this brings to light that the hybrid isn’t for everyone. As mentioned if you don’t charge it it’s kind of useless as of the battery weight etc. It’s true a lot manufacturers share from each other even BMW- some of the diesels were actually Peugeot diesels. After all this what have you ended your with yourself?

      Well, for now I’m still driving, 3 months of payments left, I’ll sell it to the next happy owner, I bought myself a used three-year-old Mercedes S400, so far I’m happy with everything, but in 3-4 months I’ll definitely tell you all its mistakes

    • @WiseMammoth
      @WiseMammoth 8 місяців тому

      it’s just that if we are talking about a hybrid and their marketers promise some kind of fabulous minimum consumption, but in the end this is not true, if we approach the supposedly environmental friendliness of this car, then in comparison with other modern even diesel cars it is not so environmentally friendly, if we talk about the environment, well, let's ban formula one because they have completely different emissions, let's ban all rally cars, get rid of airplane ships, well, everyone understands that this is complete nonsense, electric cars are still charged from a power plant that uses the same gas, also oil the same fuel oil, because no one says that in 3-5 years you will need to dispose of the battery, which is not the most useful thing, but quite the opposite, super toxic.. I think the future belongs to the Chinese solution when the diesel gasoline engine acts like a generator, the car runs on electricity with normal power reserve with normal power + 500 horsepower plus and with the ability to travel 1,000 km on one charge or filling the tank while these BMWs are very crude and unfinished and are not worth much attention .. but we are all people, so we are ready to pay money just for the brand😢

      U must like your cars with lots of horse power and loud because you can tune the car up and make it loud obviously it’s not gonna be beating any Ms but it definitely does go faster than most your Chinese cars not sure what your argument is only thing is Chinese cars did the hybrid better but the performance on the 530 is still good just stock it’s quiet but can get loud a cold air intake and do a resonator delete on your muffler it’ll sound good

    Can’t believe the number of inaccuracy’s within this video - your knowledge is not good and misleading. Just one example - you say the ‘30’ within 530e refers to the model designation code I.e. G’30’. This is completely wrong - the ‘30’ referred to the band of power in which this particular engine outputs in Kw…
    The higher the number the higher the engine kw output - eg 518, 520d, 530, 530e, 540 etc…. Higher number = higher output.
    As experts you should know this. Generally I like your videos!
