This, in my opinion, was the last truly great season of Top Gear, after this it all became a little too scripted, or it least it felt too scripted anyway, there were still some good episodes after this point, but up to S13 was peak Top Gear
I think TG series 6-16 were the best. And I'd say series 6-8 made them what they are today - the undisputed legends of automotive journalism and British TV industry. But by the last Top Gear series (20-23) with Clarkson, Hammond and May they started to run out of ideas and jokes got less funny. In some cases, they were repetitive. The Grand Tour series 1 were kinda boring too. But in my opinion, they improved a lot later. TGT series 2 and TGT series 3 were very good. I even like the idea of specials only as of series 4. That latest Cambodia/Vietnam episode was nice. Their specials are great and always were great. (Apart from that Mozambique special. That was their worst ever.)
