Good review 👍🏻. Would be interesting to compare the Portsoy with the Talisker Port Ruighe and the Ardmore Port Wood Finish. The price is not so different, at minimum here in Germany, the Portsoy is a bit more expensive (approximately 10 €). Cheers from Germany
I've not tried this but will give it a try at some stage. I ended up choosing to buy bottle of Sandend over this a couple of weeks ago, partially because I'm not totally convinced by (ruby) port finishes. I do need to try more though. It certainly isn't because I don't like port. I am enjoying the Sandend.

WhiskyNotes: 12yo: 79100 compare to Benriach 12 - Benriach is much better. Sandend 83/100, solid one keeps distillery charakter with subtle Manzanilla influence. Portsoy 82/100, Port influence is mild with gently earthy peat not complex but have nice balance. overall good. These are only opinion quite ojective i guess but based on individual preferences. For me these are pass. Im not fun what Rachel Berie do at Glenglasaugh. Can find better option at this price. Cheers Goeff for this one and slàinte 🥂🙋🏻♂️

Good review. To me this one is really great, a little splash of water and good amount of time in the glass....that's a good thing for this one. After the first half of the bottle I had to order me a backup for another day🍷cheers
Picked this up at auction (yes, already) for €38. Quite nice. The peat is unusual and it's well balanced. Btw, as far as old GlenGlassaughs go, if you ever get the chance to try their old PX cask, that's a sherry bomb if I ever tried one.

Had a few pours from my friend's bottle. I thought it was OK, but kind of ordinary. Honestly, I had a hard time tasting the peat at all. Also I don't really go for the black liquorish note, and port matured whiskies.... well, I don't know a lot of port whiskies that I love. It's ... good. As for the bottle, I don't get the green cork at all. LOL. How does that work with the rest of the bottle?

Okay, so the Torfa was an unimpressed 82, the 12 was a decent 85, and the Portsoy is the preferred bottle at 84? I won’t say that this rating system is nonsense. I also wouldn’t argue with those who do say that 😂
@@Gwhisky I really don’t judge. I have a rum advent calendar with a couple of mates. The one I liked best I only gave a mid-tier score - it was simply the most fun, not objectively the best 😅

Particularly considering that in the last video you mentioned that the old Glenlivet 18 brought you to the world of aged malts. That's quite interesting to hear how does the new one compare to the old, with that 40%.... 🥲

I haven’t tried Glenglassaugh in years. Looks like it’s time to give them another try. I am a Brown Forman fan (and shareholder).

I just sampled this after your positive review and it really grows on you. Does it share likeable similarities to Kilkerran 12 or is it just me?

The 12 has been downgraded to 84 based on a side-by side. And yes... The rating system is absolute nonsense. 😂
