    Hi all!!! In this video, my improvisations sound (I play guitars from cigar boxes) ..the last in the video, at the very end - the sound of this pickup.
    How do you like this video?

      Awesome video. The ratio of likes and comments vs views are way outta whack. I personally love the fact that I got to learn something new with out listening to a bunch of babbling. I'm currently building my third CBG, the first two were "learning curve failures" lol. But this one's right.
      My boy wants to build one with me, so an ammo can 3 string is next. Gonna try your pick up in that one.
      Lengthy comment, yes, I know, but thanks for the video

    This video came just in time. There ain't much good materials about handmade pickups, the few I found are in low video quality or poorly demonstrated/explained (too much blablabla). But you dude always make a good work here in this channel. Thank you!

    Very cool, but I would have liked to hear the finished product. I am curious about what kind of music can be made with a three string guitar.

      Thanks!!! My instruments sound in the video .. this pickup sounds at the end. I insert my music on three-stringed instruments into all videos .. sometimes on four-stringed ones.

    Best videos on Pick-up winding I've seen so far, Thank you! My only question is about the final resistance of the coils. I see yours range from about 4K ohms to about 9K ohms. Is there a specific resistance you prefer?
    Thanks!

    • @CigarBoxBroGuitars
      @CigarBoxBroGuitars  10 місяців тому

      Thank you! In this pickup (humbucker), the coils are identical in resistance (this gives the effect of noise reduction). I try to wind it carefully .. this is the main thing for me. The more resistance, the less high frequencies (high resistance for playing with overdrive), but this is one of the moments ... a lot of subtleties.

  • @GrantMoore3D
    @GrantMoore3D 6 днів тому

    Thank you for this excellent video! I’ve always wanted to make a pickup and now I feel confident in giving it a try. When winding, do you test resistance as you go to try and get the two coils matching? Or just try to count winding?

    If you don't want to do a voiceover, you can greatly improve this video by leaving the words on the screen longer, so the entire sentence can be read. Otherwise nice work, thanks.

    I thought with a humbucker, the coils were wound in opposite directions . Which is how they cancel the 60 cycle Hum. But i am just a novice.

    • @CigarBoxBroGuitars
      @CigarBoxBroGuitars  Рік тому +1

      That's right, they do it too .. wind the coils in different directions. They seem to connect it in a different way only (they connect the end of the first coil to the beginning of the second ... the beginning of the first is a signal, the end of the second is ground) ... I had such an experience and everything works well.

    • @CigarBoxBroGuitars
      @CigarBoxBroGuitars  Рік тому

      Hello! I think you can do without it ... in this pickup I did not ground the metal rivets ... in other pickups I make a ground (and thus I isolate the magnets / cores) .. I have an old wire, it is 70 years old ... I'm afraid that suddenly the enamel has come off it over time. In general, this is for safety reasons (so that there is no contact between the magnets / cores and the winding wire).

    • @attilasipeki1418
      @attilasipeki1418 Рік тому +1

      @@CigarBoxBroGuitars Thank you! But in another of your videos, you grounded the middle magnets with a copper wire, and then started winding the thin wire from the same eyelet hole. I don't fully understand why the copper winding wire starts from the ground if the wire cannot touch the magnets?

    • @CigarBoxBroGuitars
      @CigarBoxBroGuitars  Рік тому +2

      @@attilasipeki1418 Yes! the area of contact is larger ... suddenly the earth will be closed to the signal ... for reasons of correct operation. I do my best not to get in trouble.
