Surface laptop does look better and costs the same as this Book4 Edge for a similar spec. If you value the haptic trackpad then Surface laptop is the choice. If you want lighter weight (2.62lb vs 2.98lb) at the cost of some premium feel then this Book4 Edge is the way to go. I love the light weight
I preordered Book 4 Edge X Elite 84-100 top of the line Variant, will get it on the 23rd so hopefully they iron out some of the software problems by that time. School starts in 2 months so fingers crossed Arm has more native apps by then.
It's required more than 2 months to rework a game, Apple have the game porting toolkit, with that is maybe possible, but from the zero, when you must reprogram everything in a different programming language.. also don't hope too much native ARM program.. they continue to selling the x86 versions too (unless Apple who conpletly stopped selling x86, so developers only can release the ARM version), and devs will never work for the 5% of the market share and ignore the 95% of the users..
Can you please recheck the information you are advertising? Namely support for eGPUs. These do not have Thunderbolt, only USB 4.0, so I wonder if they will support eGPUs, even assuming there are ARM drivers. Can you also test other games like AAA, as you are advertising this for gaming? I have seen many gaming reviews, and most non-native games do not even load due to anti-cheat. The ones that do could be more playable. Can you also confirm the bootloader is locked so you cannot dual boot this? Ergo no Linux partition.
Those can't just happen right away.. You know how Arm works.. Just like on your smartphone.. So it has to be out for a while and a lot of test needs to be done.. Although, some reviewers did test other games like red dead and the likes.. And it performed well
Ah, the joys of choices! I have the S24U and Tab S9+ today, but I need a laptop for some studies. I was thinking of getting a 16-inch, but it's not in stock here in Norway. Now, Samsung has a good trade-in offer and a 20% discount... I'm so unsure about the sizes.
Hab ein Book flex 1 super Gerät nach fast 5 Jahren und das Book 2 pro 360 auch der Hammer.... Samsung halt für mich die besten Laptops da ich vom Staubsauger bis zum TV alles von Samsung habe
so, neither of these models has a usb type A port? Could you confirm? In the advertising material from Samsung (at least in Italy), it's displayed a type A close to the mic/jack port.
The Elite X chip isn't that great for gaming. Geekbench scores show the GPU only having 64% of the TFLOPs that you get with the Apple M-series chips. It obviously is not even close to discrete graphics. I have the Surface Laptop 7 and I've tried Witcher 3 (using Auto SR) and Control -- they play but I wouldn't say they're playable, FPS is below 30 and textures are very low resolution. You end up with a headache after 10 min of play. Now it plays Rimworld, Old World, and most indy titles (that are not super graphic intensive) just fine. And you shouldn't play games on battery (if you can help it) ... you'll destroy your battery life as you'll need to cycle it a lot more than with regular use (3 hrs vs. 18 hrs). Plus you can draw a little more performance while you're plugged in.
I go to the Samsung site and decide if I even want one of theses. And I usually get off that site. And the price point is the big factor. I just can't see paying over $1300 plus for these.
This test was 89% brightness, 2880x1800 resolution, screen set to 120hz refresh, game running at 100fps, I got 3 hours of play time. So that's bare minimum battery life for gaming. Lowering any of that should give more battery life. I will continue to test
That's a good result I think. Even gaming on a mobile phone dies that fast or so.. So I think it's a good score considering the large screen and processing.. Yeah.. Great job
This was initially a live stream that I decided to cut into a video. Full review is coming, I plan to do a full review covering both the 14" and 16" model
@@ShaneSymonds also compare it with galaxy book 4 pro...and what's ur take in terms of only 16gb ram in book 4 edge...for normal casual user for office work without gaming or creative professional...for long term usage like 5-7years ...and also role of NPU... 45TOPS
Hi Shane, he is correct, you have the mid range X Elite chips. The Snapdragon X SKUs for the X Elite are: X1E-84-100, 80-100 and 78-100. The X Plus chip is the X1P-64-100. Unless you are referring to the base Samsung SKU then that makes sense.
A correction: Those USB-C 4 ports are NOT thunderbolt ok? So no, you can't connect an eGPU on them (well, you can, but it won't work). But, as far as I know, you can connect them to external displays or monitors.
This was a maxed out test so I am very optimistic seeing 3 hours of play time. Lowering anything between the brightness, resolution, or frame rates should give more battery past 3 hours
search up the support of your software. Is it supported by only macos? get macbook, supported by arm windows? get arm windows, supported only by x86 windows machines? get that. If it supports multiple just go by what you like
@@oh-noe There's still no reason to get any Windows on ARM laptop if you are getting into engineering; even if it's supported. Always go x86, just plug it in if you need to. Supported doesn't mean it will actually work properly. Software have bugs and niche Windows on ARM laptops will be the most likely to have bugs and last on the list to be patched(if it ever gets patched). The joker above that said to get Windows on ARM for engineering, forgot to put smilies.
Why did this review start with you playing games when this clearly is NOT a gaming laptop? Every review has stated that almost right off the bat for the most part. If you want to play games, in a mobile situation, use your phone, or a portable gaming device, ROG Ally or whatnot. If you really want to play games, be realistic and buy a traditional box, or a PS4, Xbox, etc. Gaming laptops are a joke. Although they may look fantastic, buying a laptop so you can plug it into the wall because it gets 2-3 hours of battery makes it, Not A Laptop. Buying a gaming rig that is called a Laptop and, not being able to put it in your lap, makes it a desktop. Gaming laptops you can cook eggs on after 5-10 minutes, makes them a Hot Plate, not a laptop. This is a productivity laptop, period. On the off chance you have something that won't run on this as a normal Retail Customer, that likely hood is Low. Although I took my Samsung back, for many reasons, I did pick up another device with the X Elite in it, and it has been very nice. At least 90% cooler than a traditional Windows laptop. Fantastic display. At the very least double the battery life of traditional units, and for most people, All Day if not Two Day battery life is amazing. There are a bunch of these now on the market. Do a little research and pick one you may find interesting, and again, for the general public, this is not only good, but excellent for most folks.

Tbh surface is best looking snapdragon laptop. Samsung should have made better looking laptop. Even yoga looks better.
It is the only laptop with Haptic Trackpad too
haptic trackpad on the surface pro is very nice

The X80 is not the base snapdragon elite.. Just for your information, there is also a 76 variant
We are looking for a laptop where 5g sim can be inserted instead depending on Hotspot and wifi .

Snapdragon X Elite 🚀 🚀 🚀
this is not the base cpu- 78 is base without the dual core perfomance. lenovo slim 7x has the base most cpu.
I'm simply saying I have the base version of the elite processor. Samsung doesn't even offer the plus version of the snapdragon chip
@ShaneSymonds the x elite has 3 variants. 84-100, 80-100, and 78-100. The x plus is 64-100.

My only issue with this laptop is that bottom chin, it's so hard to ignore
I agree. For whatever its worth its still a 16:10 aspect ratio
I really can't see paying over $1300 for this device. My M2 15in Macbook Air cost $1300. So no thank you.
Macbook airs are a good purchase if you are fine with the 60hz screen. For me personally that is a deal breaker
In a next video can try gta 5 on it
Omfg another paid advertisement for snapdragon. And it's running runescape...
This is real life usage for me. I wouldn't have made the content if I wasn't impressed with it.
