    Your greeting card startup video for $500 started me on the best path in January. I got the Canon printer you recommended and it's been amazing plus found linen cardstock that makes my cards standout so well. My card business is getting bigger, I just got on faire and delivering my first local wholesale order tomorrow. Honestly you're details with real world info has been a huge help in changing my life for the better, so thank you.

    This is a topic I have been wrangling in my head for quite a few months, for all the reasons you mentioned in this video.... and more... I know that I would like to offer cards and am in the process of designing them, but there are so many pros & cons to both outsourcing or in-house printing. I'm still quite undecided after this video, but the cost comparison approach was really helpful! I appreciate you sharing all the good info in this video. I'll add it to my potential resources to use to help me come to a decision!

      I think a hybrid model might work if you have a printer at home. Test some of your designs and print at home and then you can outsource your best sellers. The main highlight was that outsourcing isnt completely hands off. :)

    Awesome breakdown on how to approach this and what to expect from each option. I've been a DIY cardmaker for decades now and though I know I can do it all, the option of getting a case of neatly scored art cards from my print shop is hugely appealing! Am newly visaually impaired and still at the point screwing up my handmade cards is really upsetting, and learning new tech and software has a bigger learning curve for me than before.

    Another awesome, helpful and no fluff video(thanks for cutting to the chase). I've done both. I started with a local printer but everything you said was true-it takes time to communicate, check paper and proofs etc. I do all my printing at home, thanks to your equipment recommendations. It's much faster and I don't have to keep inventory. It would be great to get to the point of needing to print large quantities for wholesale orders(maybe some day) but for now, I'll stick with in-house printing.

    Thank you so much for this informative video! You guys are awesome. I'm an aspiring entrepreneur and am passionate about the cards/gift business. I don't know if this is just an assumption, but I feel that making them in studio, there is a sort of a special meaning behind them. The fact that is handmade makes it special. And you can charge a little more. While you can make card bulks outsourcing, there is not that magic in it, when selling it to your customers. Is that fair? Keep up the great work!

    • @EasySundayClub
      @EasySundayClub  3 роки тому

      It is fair but also if u got a large wholesale order at target or something it might be really stressful to have to do it all on your own. So definitely feel there are certain use cases where this makes sense. Best of luck!!

    Im not sure if I can ask this here- if there’s any info on creating shipping labels for light weighted items through usps that way there is proof of shipment and tracking without using a flat rate cost being that it’s more expensive?

    • @EasySundayClub
      @EasySundayClub  3 роки тому

      to my knowledge if you want tracking the most economical option is the usps first class package which can be expensive to ship greeting cards. If you want to ship without tracking regular postage works too.

    Thank you for this excellent video. I am starting my Greeting card business on Shopify, but none of the connected aps allow you to send one card at a time to customers. You have to order in bulk sent to me and then mail out to customer. so I was wondering if it would be more beneficial to use a local printer and you answered my questions

    • @EasySundayClub
      @EasySundayClub  3 роки тому +1

      I have not actually. What paper are u using? Check out our cardstock video if you need recommendations. How are u shipping the cards? We made a shipping greeting card video that shows the rigid mailer we use and how we package it.

      @CheeJustin 3 роки тому

      @@EasySundayClub I'm using a 120lb, 325gsm paper, and mailing it in a regular envelope with an eco plastic covering. Maybe I should switch to rigid mailers, I'll check out your other videos!

    Super helpful! Thank you. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to handle paper/quality when you switch to have your cards outsourced? I used a much too expensive paper because it prints well on my canon pro 100. I love the quality of it so i haven't changed it up but I'm afraid if I have my cards outsourced I'll be stuck with crappy paper.

    • @EasySundayClub
      @EasySundayClub  3 роки тому +1

      I don't know if this helps but I had a similar dilemma when switching my art prints paper. It turned out customers won't notice the difference as much as you think they might. That said, I think it helps to find a printer that has different kinds of card stock vs the single plain white card stock. The limited selection of card stock and envelopes are two of the many reasons I haven't outsourced yet.

    people pay $5 per card? size 4.25 x 5.5 inches?

  • @TheGoodContent37
    @TheGoodContent37 3 роки тому +5

    You are not taking into acount accidents, mistakes in printing which make you lose product, wear and tear of equipment, repairs, electricity cost. The difference in profit would be way smaller or even would be more expensive to do it at home.
    That's why I don't understand why people would prefer to do it themselves, is so time consuming and I think even more expensive. It's also way worst for the enviroment. I think the ones doing it themselves are just slaves of marketing. They don't see the bigger picture and asume the tiny small advantage of having a printer is worth it.
