Wonderful! People underestimate the emotional / confidence part of being an artist. Sure, there are more skilled artists out there. But artists tend to be their own worst critic and can be the main blocker for releasing their art. One of our business values is progress over perfection. Something that you think is a throwaway could really connect to a non-artist. Take risks and put stuff out there into the universe. You'll be surprised with the feedback you can get once we get out of our own way if that makes sense :)

I loved how honest Cathy is!! I had a friend purchase 20 cards from me and I was wondering what the best way you've found to ship larger quantity cards.
To answer your question specifically since I don't think our packaging video addresses 20 cards, I would recommend shipping them in a larger rigid envelope that you can fold over to create more cushion, or a small box. Because 20 cards are still relatively light, it shouldn't increase the shipping cost that much if you ship in a small box, and it's a better unboxing experience for a VIP customer :). Hope this helps.

What I need is guidance on buying a color printer that isn't going to break down after a few months/couple years, or have cartridges that are only good for 3 or 4 print jobs (of a few pages each) before they start acting weird (and are unfixable through normal alignment/cleaning options) or just quit working altogether. Is it better to buy in a store than online? Which brands or individual printer models (on the market right now) are absolute no-nos? Help?

This is excellent feedback and we will make a video in the near future discussing all of our revenue streams. We will tag you when we do or just subscribe. In general though: prints, cards, pins, blankets, stickers, design consulting / freelance, and licensing. We will get in detail re: the breakout in the video. We stopped doing commissions a couple years ago because it took time away from product development. Hope that helps!

@@marcelaolivares3320 I still sell more prints even though it may be counter intuitive since you can buy unlimited number of cards but you only have so much wall space. I think it's because my card collection is relatively small compared to my prints collection. That said, I have a few card designs that have made more sales in $ than most of my prints because they sold more in quantity.

I use Xero for accounting and invoicing. It also comes with inventory management capabilities but I don’t really use it. My products are mix of ready made and made to order so I can’t find a solution that truly works.

There are also card stock made of recycled materials that you can use to print your greeting cards. It does bring up the cost a bit but since we can buy in bulk, we can still retain healthy margins.

What's your opinion about blank note cards with different themes. Like a 5 pack of different flowers, or scenes from cities or trips. I have 1000's of photos that would totally work. They seem to work better at note cards vs. cards for specific events. Great video.

maybe calligraphers and hand letterers sell cards with only words on them. check out Emily McDowell :). To print the words on the inside, you’ll have to feed the card stock into the printer from the back side. I think some printers can handle that automatically.

They would all look the same bar the message ie happy birthday, thank you, congratulations etc. So would you say putting them aside to try and get 12 solid cards made. From your opinion what would be the amount before setting up shopify.
@@Jason-ee1xz no worries, we say line in the Us too. I would keep all 12 together as initial collection. the number 12 is not a hard fast rule, can be less can be more, the key is to keep the style of design consistent because it's more attractive as a new shop with limited selection. If you're just starting out, I would start selling on marketplaces with existing customers like Etsy first or similar in UK because with Shopify you have to pay $29 usd/mon for their basic plan and drive all the traffic yourself. Shopify makes sense down the road when you already have customers or audience.
Also, you say greeting cards are not enough. What else do you suggest to add? Do i concentrate until i got the cards solid until i move on to the next item?
100% absolutely focus on a single type of product. Adding a new product will dilute your energy and attention. New product ideas often come once you start selling your first thing and gather feedback from customers. Making/cards will be a learning process that can help you get better once you move onto the second.

you have to mail it. Etsy doesn’t do POD but there are several POD platforms that connects to your Etsy storefront.

I print on photoshop using my template shown. my printer supports borderless printing so there’s no cutoff.

Easy Sunday Club sorry from uk. By a line I mean - a collection. They would all look the same bar the message ie happy birthday, thank you, congratulations etc. So would you say putting them aside to try and get 12 solid cards made.
From your opinion what would be the amount before setting up shopify.

I would keep all 12 together as initial collection. the number 12 is not a hard fast rule, can be less can be more, the key is to keep the style of design consistent because it's more attractive as a new shop with limited selection. If you're just starting out, I would start selling on marketplaces with existing customers like Etsy first or similar in UK because with Shopify you have to pay $29 usd/mon for their basic plan and drive all the traffic yourself. Shopify makes sense down the road when you already have customers or audience.

Also, you say greeting cards are not enough. What else do you suggest to add? Do i concentrate until i got the cards solid until i move on to the next item?
100% absolutely focus on a single type of product. Adding a new product will dilute your energy and attention. New product ideas often come once you start selling your first thing and gather feedback from customers. Making/cards will be a learning process that can help you get better once you move onto the second.
