This was the American Garage Tour. I got to see their show at the Royal Oak Music Theatre (Detroit) in Nov. 1979, for free with a press pass. I was in college and writing music articles for the University of Michigan newspaper. No interview, just covering the show. I still have a few pics of them, our photographer gave me. Was such an exciting show and brings me back to a great time in my life!!

That is fantastic. I was in college in Athens ga in ‘83 and they came to the student center and did the Travels album. It was in a small room with folding chairs. I had only heard American garage and Wichita Falls at that point. Musically speaking it was life changing. I decided to go to music school because of that show. I never imagined music of that caliber and complexity could be performed live so flawlessly. One of the top three performances I have seen in my lifetime.

I saw PMG in Eugene and Portland during Offramp and First Circle tours. Rodby was bassist for both tours, but Wertico was the new guy on drums for First Circle. Naná Vasconcelos was on Offramp…then, new vocalist Pedro Aznar for First Circle. I was blown away by Pedro’s talent. Great memories!

Yeah, since 78-79...American Garage! Still one of my favorites. The early PMG production still endures as personal favorites.
Maybe not listening every day, but the music haunts me regularly, certainly.
I have resorted to benge listening. For me it's mostly PMG. I connected to the group, more strongly than just Pats' work.
      Particularly PMG with Pedro Aznar!
Pastorius left much too soon for me. As did Lyle.

I agree: it does not. Which is overall a good thing, otherwise the world would be standing still. However, I agree in that there is nothing for me in his recent productions, not to mention that most of the people he plays with nowadays are washed out of any charisma. We have to remember though that we as the consumers of his music, we also changed over the years. Pat is a true artist so he will pursue his own path without need to satisfy anyone.

@@greeksalad4783 I liked the original stuff more (vs the trios), but his new album (with "America Undefined") has brought back the early feel with a solid piano player, though none will ever compare with Lyle.. because of Lyle's talent, but the chemistry between the two added much to composition/execution.
