He loves Persona 5 and was sponsored by Atlus for that video, yet it included the line "slip-slide your way through a series of progressively lamer dungeons." And also spent a full minute bashing the romances while implying the writers are pedos. So yeah I'd say always this mean-spirited. I'm here for it.
Yes, yes they always where, but the old ones used to be things it was popular to hate on, like DeviantArt, tumblr, Facebook. Hell, it's still popular to hate on them (and with Facebook it's justified) but these have always been his honest thoughts just presented through comedy. Frankly, they've gotten worse because he's become more and more bitter with time. He's *very* selective in what he likes, and whatever he doesn't like he becomes very toxic about.
Thanks for this video. My friend has been in a coma for 4 years after a tragic car accident but after he saw 2 minutes of this he instantly woke up and closed it.
To be fair about the Q&A section, Oda makes it a habit to answer silly questions with utter seriousness and serious questions with utter nonsense. “How far can Luffy stretch his body?” “About 22 gomu-gomus.”
or hell, let the fans answer for him if they explain something he never thought of or have a headcanon that he thinks makes more sense than whatever he did or didn't think of
Nah, I am a RWBY fan also and I love his video. The RWBY one was made with way more good faith than this one. The same goes with the Persona 5 one. This one felt particularly disbalanced and full of bad takes.

When characters are sex pests, the blame lands on the characters. When the teenage girls are drawn sexualized for no good reason, that's the author's fault.

At least that is what I have heard/know.
What I’m most upset about is you taking a swing at Artur and his Library of Ohara channel/wiki. What he does for the community is a thankless job that takes hours and hours of work. With all of the other awful One Piece content creators out there with awful clickbait videos that have little to no substance, you had to go and shit on the one who is the most genuine. You took a really cheap shot about his dialect and how he pronounces words via the translation and that’s not funny. This video was very disappointing.
where was this? i just finished the video and i dont think he mentioned another youtube channel, or any other individual creator. only the fan wiki, which is edited by anyone
What? Is this the thing about proper nouns being spelled wrong? Is it really that serious? Where did he make fun of anyone's dialect? What video did you watch, my guy, because I'm pretty sure it wasn't this one.
As much as I wanna say "haha these are funny jabs" I can't help but feel there's an overly cynical tone and inaccurate way the series is described. "Every arc being the same" & the anti government stuff work cuz there's a bit of truth to them, but everything else felt malicious and very surface level understanding critique.
0:31 - No, there's still public traders & merchants. You're allowed to sail a ship. 1:06 - their powers aren't the same. The island fruit physically makes you an island whilst Picas fruit only allows for the merging of stone. The revolutionary commander can only manipulate ground & the clay fruit only manipulates clay. 1:35 - Katakuris mochi fruit only works due to future sight, in the same sense as trebol hiding his real body with his snot. His unique fruit is unique due to how it's used, as when he doesn't use it, Luffy can hit him with Haki. 1:44 - what a majority of fights are goofy. 1:52 - Both Robin & Usopp get into battles. (Usopp literally fights luffy.) 1:56 - Oda has a multitude of women, Linlin is one of the four emperors of the sea & the most vital character to luffys dream is Robin. Sexism doesnt make any sense. 2:06 - subjective as clearly people like it more as what it is. 2:19 - Yeah, in a sunken world where theres a vast amount of islands & luffy saves them. Non-point, you can literally use this to describe any fictional story with combat. 2:43 - all times Zoro has saved a woman was when they couldnt fight back or win. Zoro should let them die? Stop calling Zoro sexist, the person he respects most is a woman. (Also, three sword style was made because Oda wanted zoro to have more swords than Musashi.) 2:52 - Nami & Vivi are a headcanon; one I like 3:08 - Yeah Robin knows the secret of how to read the glyphs & everyone wants her. (Zoro still isnt sexist.) 3:11 - Chopper wasnt designed to be a plushie. Oda made the Design more cutesy due to finding the Vas voice cute. 3:37 - The gorosei are clearly different from Garp, Kuzan, Coby, & etc. The Gorosei treat all humans & other species like trash. The others truly just want to save people from tyranny. 3:47 - Theres literally been a multitude of characters freed from slavery who didn't, Fisher Tiger is literally in the story. Arlong or Hordy feel that way as they feel contempt for humans who didnt oppress them. 4:02 - They wanted to lure Whitebeard out & knew Ace needed to die live on camera? It took longer due to consistent interruptions & the fact a full scale invasion is taking place; if Ace was dead when whitebeard got there he'd sink the whole island. 4:39 - Oda could just have a preference in how he works. 4:47 - it's a longstanding story that has extensive worldbuilding. A vast amount of these characters are antagonists or people important to the history of the crew. 5:23 - You hate QnAs?? 6:02 - What a scummy thing to state like a fact when you literally don't know his situation & framing it like he's a narcissist. 6:09 - He literally had surgery on his eye you horrid person, making comedy about it when you know the situation is abhorrent. 6:40 - You had to read the story blind if you didnt see the death, racism, slavery, r@pe, & etc. 6:57 - The movie isnt canon but Uta was left behind due to a valid reason & the story recognizes Usopps dad as a bum. 7:12 - it actually wasnt a pleasant thing to say before making it into a pedophile joke & making implications. I don't know if you read this series with the worst lens possible but the way you downplay & insult Oda is why you're not taken seriously. Rather than light ribbing you mock out of bitterness & spite. You deserve to be excoriated & frankly just put on blast.
One piece DOES have sexism issues but Robin is kind of a bad example of that. Robin's DF is OP as hell ofc oda isn't gonna use her often in battle, it would've been a better example of sexism in how women are drawn vs men and also how Nami gets treated a lot in gags especially during Wano
I would argue that its not sexism, Oda draws women a certain way due to art style & has clearly drawn women with vastly different body types. Even with Wano the gag isn't that Nami is inferior to her male crewmates due to her sex.
Heck Oda has explicitly stated that Usopp is the weakest straw hat meaning Nami is still stronger than a guy on the crew and in terms of usefulness skill wise she's basically second only to Robin and that's only because they NEED Robin to find the One Piece
3:42 None of the past slaves became slavers in One Piece... If you're thinking about Arlong, he was *never* a slave. Fisher Tiger was a slave and he never became a slaver. Arlong was simply oppressed like all Fishmen were in One Piece and wanted to be an oppressor in retaliation.
Macro (the one pictured in the video) wasn't a slave himself but he was part of the Sun Pirates and did become a slaver later, so I can understand the confusion. I can't understand using such a minor character to make the most blatantly false Tumblr critique I've seen in some time though.
yeah he wasnt a slave, he was just systemically oppressed, and wanted to be the oppressor instead because hes as racist as the people he hates this is different than what was said in teh video because
@theeffingralyks5722 He captured other fishmen and mermaids to sell as slaves, odds are he sold humans too but as far as we know he hasn't. He's just a scumbag.

I mean it's constantly shown that his hatred and racism towards all humans because of how he was treated was a bad thing. Like every time he's brought up. Also robin gets one of the coolest fights in wano vs black maria and she is one of the most well developed charcters in the entire series. You can't just leave the grand line whenever you want because of the calm belt (which you mentioned) unless you're ungodly strong (like rayleigh) or have technology to by pass it like the mariens. Zoro also litteraly cuts a woman in half. One piece has a long character list because it prides itself on having one of the most fleshed out worlds in manga and saying the strawhats have no chemistry or any actual relationship with eachother is laughably false. Most of these criticisms either come from lack of understanding of the story or just bad faith.
There were 3 members of Fisher Tiger's crew that went on to be slavers, but they weren't slaves themselves. The point of the sun pirates was even people who were never slaves got the sun brand so nobody could actually tell who was a slave.

Some big Robin fans have said she hasn't really done anything or had much focus since the time skip. I usually find these as just silly and hyperbolic but I'm legit kind of just annoyed by this one as it just feels like information is left out from it. And you take back what you said about Franky considering...oh, I dunno; HE MADE THE SECOND SHIP?! KINDA IMPORTANT FOR THE STORY. One Piece is far from perfect but this is felt like it was written by someone who just asked someone else to tell them everything about it instead of actually experiencing it themselves. I hope the next 'This is Basically' doesn't feel like this one did.
"he made the second ship" yeah but they wouldnt need him specifically if ussop wasnt being an asshole to everyone, or better yet they wouldnt need a new ship in the first place if oda didnt specifically want to make fans cry
@@theeffingralyks5722 There were multiple panels of Merry getting beaten up and the crew lamenting needing a shipwright (battle with Hina, a bunch of Skypia). Oda was setting up Franky for miles before he ever was introduced.
@theeffingralyks5722 First of all, Ussop was 'being an asshole' cause The Going Merry is a ship from his home island and a gift from his childhood friend Kaya to the Straw Hats. It was also parallel to the fact that Ussop felt that the ship could be replaced and left behind despite being part of the crew HE could. It's why he tries to get back his agency and make himself important. Remember, Ussop was left behind by his pirate father, Yassop (a fact referenced in this video). It's the reason it turns into a fight. Fights in One Piece, especially if Luffy is involved, are usually fights over idealogy. Someone has already brought up the fact that the ship was taking damage, but another note is that Ussop couldn't fix the ship. Even the best shipwrights of Water 7 couldn't fix Merry since she took too much damage to stay seaworthy for long (literally why despite getting fixed, she breaks apart, and Franky DOES make the second ship On top of that, Franky's adventures during the two year time skip give peaks into Doctor Vegapunk, who is important down the line. I didn't mention that one as much because the ship part felt more important. I wouldn't make such a big stink about this normally but joking about Franky; not in the video but as a description like Jello is telling people 'No one cares about this character who is just here'. He might as well say that about the entire crew since apparently 'the boat has more personality'. Look, I'm all for being hyperbolic and just having a good time making fun of a series; it's why I still enjoyed the This Is Basically Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon. Cause those videos poke fun without coming off as disrespectful to a franchise that clearly a lot of people like.
Yeah I don't understand what the fuck kind of point Jello was trying to make here Robin is literally an *assassin.* She doesn't get fights in the story because of misogyny, she doesn't get fights in the story because she fucking kills her enemies.
This was more disappointing than I expected. Usually could have fun watching these "So this is Basically" vids, though I would see it more for roasts and humored criticism, and now seeing one after a few years later, I'm more sad than finding a chuckle from this :/ I really don't like how much it spoils more than half the story most of all. Even if the intention is satirical, comedy, or such, I think a spoiler warning should be put on here at the beginning of the video. When people watch a very long series, like My Hero Academia, Dragon Ball, or One Piece (which is still ongoing), they wouldn't want their progress and time invested into the show to be entirely spoiled of important and what would have been exciting moments of wonder and discovery. I know this is a lot to ask, but perhaps put a spoiler warning mentioning it's up to Chapter 1100? (Or say it spoils up to the Final Saga?)
so you watched what is essentially a summarized satire vid(mind you you watched previous vids so you know what to expect) but your surprised he spoiled stuff for you.The title is this is literally one piece with an 8 minute timeframe. What where you expecting?
Picking out scenes out of 1100 episodes/chapters where they are prominent and meant to be surprising for fans who have patiently but willing to spend all that time and energy to watch it is the fun of not only One Piece but many other shows. If you have a favorite show and a content creator you liked made a video about it, I'm sure you would also feel some if not a lot of dissatisfaction if you were shown spoilers outside of the main show/manga/book which would have been surprising twists that would have been quite nice to be exposed to in the storytelling. I wouldn't have expected within just 8 minutes that it would spoil very important and emotional scenes across what is essentially throughout most of the series. Again, 1100 episodes or chapters is a lot. My comment for spoiler warning request isn't for my sake (I watched all episodes to the current long ago before this released) but for other one piece fans who aren't caught up and also not familiar with "So this is basically" (especially since it's been a few years since the last short).
@@Lordmaster135btw I hope the comments or responses don't sound rude coming from me as I'm mostly speaking from a neutral but concerned position for preventing spoilers when possible. In a way, having no spoiler warning is part of the satire, because the Wikia just spoils everything about a subject in the intro paragraphs. Even saw another fan state that spoilers don't matter in One Piece. Of course, I disagree with them.

0:36 You can't just leave or enter the grand line. The calm belt exists between the seas and the grand line where Sea Beasts just hang out along with there being no wind. 1:53 Robin has multiple fights. Pell, Yama, Trebol, Cavendish, Black Maria, and a few that are manga spoilers. But she is also often in team fights too like Enel, Oars, Caesar, Monet, and Sentomaru (same with ussop) 2:09 East Blue Saga, Arabasta saga, Water 7 arc, Thriller Bark arc, Marineford Arc, the Dressrosa arc, Whole Cake Island arc, and the wano saga all are not about destroying an island and stopping it from happening. 3:06 Robin had one of the longest backstories in the series, 3 arcs of build up for her main arc in water 7 and Enies lobby, is given the single most important spot in the crew next to the captain as the only person who can actually find the one piece, and is tied to the ancient kingdom thanks to Ohara. Currently she is in the middle of an arc in the manga 3:44 This is just an insane thing to say. There is not a single character that was an slave that then became someone who enslaves others. I'm assuming he's talking about Arlong becoming a slave owner however, Arlong was never a slave at any point in his life. He was treated poorly by humans and he faced racism for sure however he was never enslaved. In fact the opposite has been shown. Rayleigh, Boa Hancock, Kuma, Ivankov, Robin, Koala, Hyougoro, Uzuki, and even the main character Luffy were all at one point slaves that stood up against slavery and did infact... not become racist enslavers. 4:10 This is how writing works when you plan ahead. (I do think sometimes people call things foreshadowing when it's clearly just a call back) 4:35 Oda has listened to and worked with editors. In fact he has credited his editors with a lot of story and character development ideas which he talks about the 3rd volume of the One Piece Magazine interview. 4:50 If you remove characters it is not the same story by the fact the story is different without them. With just your first example Gaimon... Removing him would dramatically change the story and make it far worse. Luffy interaction and wish not to ruin his dream helps Nami trust him and see the kind of person he is. Later on he befriends Buggy, a character that was previously shown as being purely evil, showing us, the audience, that there's a lot more to Buggy than we think... and it adds some comedy. Every character in a story adds something unique to said story. There's a difference to not liking a character and saying that a character is pointless. 4:57 If you remove whitebeard crew from the story who are all there to put their life on the line for Ace, it makes Ace seem way less important and like a no one who is just getting gassed up by the government for no reason. They also exist to show that Whitebeard doesn't care who you are or how many there are, he will love you all the same because you're part of his family. 5:04 I too would remove Kaku (the one from wano) 5:10 Each of the straw hats have unique dynamics with each other. Your favorite character, Robin, does not treat Sanji the same way she treats Nami. She does not treat Nami the same way she treats Jinbei. She doesn't treat Jinbei the same way she treats chopper. You could argue Zoro treats most of the crew the same like the example you give but are you really going to tell me Zoro treats Luffy the same way he treats Sanji. 5:15 please read Chapter 912 or watch ep 897 5:26 You've done a F&Q before too. 6:08 As an artist this is insanely insulting and extremely subjective. I personally think Oda early art style was more suited to my taste however his current art is undeniably much more detailed and expressive. He is constantly trying to improve... Even if it's in weird ways such as wanting to learn to draw butts better so he put nami and robin in... swimsuits during egghead. 6:16 Nah this is just facts. 6:55 Yasopp has been stated to be a shitty father. usopp doesn't resent him but the story doesn't paint him as a good father. Shanks left Uta so she wouldn't feel guilty and get blamed for murdering a whole town and the second she was in any actual danger he immediately went to go save her. 7:02 The manga industry in Japan sucks 7:26 Anime is weird, straight up. It'd be nice if they just made their characters official ages a little older but with how the entertainment industry is and... well what people want, their ages aren't gonna get higher. I like to use the following logic to know if it's okay to "sexualize" a character. If it acts like a child and looks like a child, it's not okay. If it acts like a child and looks like a women, it's not okay. If it acts like a women and looks like a women, it's okay. But I also think it's fine to take their official age into account with the acts and looks like a women one if you think it's okay to sexualize them. It's a tricky subject when really it shouldn't be if we just aged characters how they actually look and act. Overall this video is likely from the jungle.
"This is how writing works when you plan ahead." Something we know from Epithet Erased that Jello isn't very good at doing. I would also like to add that Uta isn't canon and I seriously would like it if people stopped acting as if she was. None of the OP movies are canon, as is pretty much standard fair for movies based on anime series.
@@Rodoet001 She appeared in a manga panel when Shanks was scaring the sh*t out of Green Bull. Like Shiki, who also appeared in filler and a movie first, she is canon, but her story from the movie and filler isn't.
You're right with almost everything but nobody is forcing Oda to sexualise obviously teenage characters like Rebecca or Carrot or even child characters like Bonni. (unless they're only sexualised in the anime or something but I doubt it). Pudding being 16 is so weird though, she lives independently and looks and acts 19+, actually cannot fathom why she's canonically so young.

It's literally one group. And it's an admittedly clumsy metaphor. But it's literally one time with Arlong's crew. Fisher Tiger and Jinbe would never, even with the hatred in their hearts they never enslaved anyone and stood for innocents. Then there's Kuma and so many others (won't say in case of spoilers). It feels so ill-intentioned some of the criticisms in this video.
Tiger Fisher in a great character. The whole point is that he was scarred by the abuse he experienced as a slave and he would always feel some irrational hatred for who he sees as the people that did it to him, but in spite of that he wanted to set a positive example for his crew and do what he could to push his people towards forgiveness and coexistence. Jimbei and Arlong both took away different messages from his conflicting sense of what was right and trauma-induced personal animosity he had to fight against humans. Literally the whole point of Fishman Island as an arc is the struggle between giving in to an existing cycle of hatred and seeking the arguably more challenging path of coexistence. Oda absolutely does not say all slaves are destined to perpetuate that treatment and I find that conclusion rather uncharitable and gross tbh
He did that during book club for fun, so that was actually all done prior to the video starting. I do wonder how much of the production was spent editing together the wiki photos of Every Single Character In One Piece Except Frankie cus holy shit dude. Because one piece isnt this grand series everyone wants it to be. The story is nothing special, its way to long and the anime is by far the worst it drags on for no reason other then to hit that 20min mark. But one piece fans are so blind when they hear anything negative about the series they get offended right away and i am a one pice fan the normal one who can see all its flaws and doesnt try to sugar coat it! when your goal is the ceaseless void, the end of all things, the utter and banal nihilism of the unbeing from which all spawns and all will return, really makes you question their character,
3:45 when in the world was Fisher tiger a slave owner? When was Boa a slave owner? When was Kuma a slave owner? Y'know the 3 most important characters who were slaves. In fact I don't think there's a single character who was a slave and currently owns slaves? The only character that matches is Hachi but now he just owns a restaurant and regrets his past and has made amends. I feel you have deeply misunderstood the Fishman island arc. EDIT:turns out Hachi wasn't a slave either, so there's literally no character that was a slave and becomes a slaver.
Arlong may not have been a slave, but he was a member of the Sun Pirates and enslaved Nami. Hody Jones was not a slave, but sought to enslave humanity (and from what I'm reading on the wiki but don't remember, apparently had some human slaves). Skypiea didn't have slavery, but did have themes of the oppressed native people becoming just as bad as their oppressors. Jello exaggerated things significantly and misrepresented things a bit, but Oda seems to hold a simplistic view of racism where he thinks that an oppressed group returning violence to their oppressors is often just as bad as the violence enacted against them in the first place, and that if everyone just decided to get along and share that problems could be resolved even if there were long-standing deeply entrenched systems of oppression. I think Oda means well, but Japan doesn't seem to be a place often confronted with the harsh realities of racism, nor a place terribly willing to acknowledge its own past and present faults in that regard.
@@TheShinySnivy I do not get where people get that the Sandians where "just as bad as their opressors" theme from, because I and *many* others even at the time didn't get that vibe. The Sandians problem is that they wanted for the Skypeans to leave Skypea, despite half the land being their native land, and that both sides were fighting a conflict that was highly uneccessary, but at no point where the Sandians presented as bad as Enel whom not even the Skypeans liked. Enel and his priests was presented as unrepentant oppressors and the Sandians fight against them was at no point presented as bad, arguably the exact opposite, they just happened to come in conflict with the Strawhats as they assumed the Strawhats where also enemies, a simple misunderstanding that quite quickly got rectified. I don't recal Hodi having slaves as much as captives whom he mostly used as canon fodder, but that might be the series being a little bit vague about their status. Thing with Hodi though is that he wasn't a former slave. He is just someone who idolised Arlong and a racist who believe fishmen where supreme to humans. He knew nothing of the suffering of fishmen and just wanted to terrorise and kill humans because he saw them as lesser, and wanted to take over Fishman Island because the king had some sympathy for humans. Dude was just a genuine bastard with no real reason or excuse for his behaviour and belief. Arlong might be the only one you could really make the argument of having slaves but he didn't really enslave the island as much as he extorted them. He didn't force labour upon them nor did he claim ownership of them, what he was doing to the village was more akin to a protection racket. "Pay me or else" type of deal. The only one he enslaved was Nami, and that was in part because she made a deal with him. Had she not done that he probably wouldn't have enslaved her. And we see that even back during his time in Tigerfish's crew the guy was a shithead. And even then, the series has consistently presented the slavery as worse than what Arlong did. Meanwhile, the amount of examples of justified anger against their trauma outnumbers the examples of people becoming monster because of their trauma. If anything, this shows that Oda has a nuanced look at it rather than a simplistic as he understands that people cope with trauma differently, and that just because you where a victim doesn't mean you can't be bad yourself.
It's like Jello is mad that he got fired for being bad at adapting anime and is now taking his frustration out on the biggest anime target he can find. Of course, he takes shots all while ham-fisting in all the moral grandstanding he can think of... which is what helped him lose his last job.

that seems kinda like an excuse idk. i dont read one piece because i like being productive with my time but from a writing perspective putting a character that violates the ethos of most other characters could be a really interesting choice. and if its just that the villains dont wanna kill as much as she does, then make one that does? it could illustrate her willingness to cross lines for victory, especially when the other sides playing the same game.

@AllyMonsters one the rurouni kenshin was due to him mentoring oda for years, and don't get me wrong it's messed up that he is still friends with him but saying he is a PEDO HIMSELF is a different story. I'm just saying *someone* had to go through and decide which out of every single character in the series could be cut without a problem, and that's not something someone does without a passion driving them. Maybe not love. But certainly commitment.
Honestly, I didn't know about the Lovely Complex situation until now, but after seeing that, I get where this comes from. This feels full of resentment, because it is. It really sounds like he is doing the same thing he did with Lovely Complex, but with One Piece. And I can understand if you don't like a show. But the idea that you know better and can make it better is arrogant and childish. It feels you were doing the same with One Piece in this video and it is as unprofessional as it was with Lovely Complex. If you don't like something, don't work on it.
Yeah.... This. Not all creators can find things they like about projects that they're lukewarm on, and push through, and that's okay. But its the theater rules, you know? If a creator/an actor is having fun, the audience can tell!
I really wonder how Jello feels about this. No way. People give Linkara a lot of shit for not liking the Oneyplays jokes about him but even he wouldn't go after a creator's family like Jello did in this vid.
I could write a really long comment dissecting literally everything wrong with this video. Even as someone who's yet to watch most of OP, I could tell this was a bad faith argument disguised as jokes (Robin has no fights, except that time she literally snapped Black Maria's spine like a glow stick, but Black Maria could totally be removed and nothing would change, am I right?) But I really don't have to. All I have to say is that the one and only bit that made me laugh was when you said "This video is sponsored by... nothing." Just the obvious bitterness behind that delivery, like you're entitled to sponsors, summarises this whole video perfectly. By the tone of this video, you'd think Oda fucked Brendan's wife. Here's a tip, my guy, if you don't like something, you don't gotta watch it. You can watch something else. It's legal and the cops can't stop you. You took a break from this series for the sake of your mental health, and I must say, coming back to it by two-footing a hornets nest was certainly a move that you could choose to make. This is the first of the STIB videos where even I could tell "Oh, oh he is not joking, this is just his actual opinions, oh no." Stick to doing stuff that won't put this level of emotional stress on you, and won't paint a huge target on your back because you implied that Oda is a paedophile. Leave this edgy, Schrodinger's Douchebag style content in 2018. Where it belongs.

(Usopp literally fights luffy.)
1:56 - Oda has a multitude of women, Linlin is one of the four emperors of the sea & the most vital character to luffys dream is Robin.
(Also, three sword style was made because Oda wanted zoro to have more swords than Musashi.)
2:52 - Nami & Vivi are a headcanon; one I like
3:08 - Yeah Robin knows the secret of how to read the glyphs & everyone wants her. (Zoro still isnt sexist.)
3:11 - Chopper wasnt designed to be a plushie.
A fantastic deconstruction of this bitter saltfest.
Nah, the QnA criticism was on that weird ass question. Big yikes for that one
Mocking Oda’s deteriorating mental health and family with pedophilia jokes is some of the most disrespectful shit I’ve seen out of a video

at this point he should just go back to making videos about social media platforms and criticize how they're basically designed no differently to casinos, at least that way it'd have a purpose
@theeffingralyks5722
First of all, Ussop was 'being an asshole' cause The Going Merry is a ship from his home island and a gift from his childhood friend Kaya to the Straw Hats.
Even the best shipwrights of Water 7 couldn't fix Merry since she took too much damage to stay seaworthy for long (literally why despite getting fixed, she breaks apart, and Franky DOES make the second ship
On top of that, Franky's adventures during the two year time skip give peaks into Doctor Vegapunk, who is important down the line.

I really don't like how much it spoils more than half the story most of all.
But she is also often in team fights too like Enel, Oars, Caesar, Monet, and Sentomaru (same with ussop)
2:09 East Blue Saga, Arabasta saga, Water 7 arc, Thriller Bark arc, Marineford Arc, the Dressrosa arc, Whole Cake Island arc, and the wano saga all are not about destroying an island and stopping it from happening.
Currently she is in the middle of an arc in the manga
3:44 This is just an insane thing to say.
(I do think sometimes people call things foreshadowing when it's clearly just a call back)
4:35 Oda has listened to and worked with editors.
5:04 I too would remove Kaku (the one from wano)
5:10 Each of the straw hats have unique dynamics with each other.
5:15 please read Chapter 912 or watch ep 897
5:26 You've done a F&Q before too.
7:02 The manga industry in Japan sucks
7:26 Anime is weird, straight up.

“All ex slaves become slavers” Ok, now I know you didn’t actually read it.
@ That, and Arlong wasn’t a slave. It’s never stated, but I’m pretty sure none of the Arlong pirates were.
Its happend to kaido aswell and that guy from film gold but I don't think that counts

@@rebeccadoyle600if that was true he wouldn’t be defending himself in the comments by trying to point to actual moments in the series.
@@rebeccadoyle600 No, you don't get to make a bad take and not expect corrections from people who actually know the source material.

Almost all of the arcs those characters are in could still happen if they were gone.
@@abrausedteleport8548 Ok, for stuff like the worst generation, cutting people like urouge or bege wouldn't impact the story *that much*, but for other characters cutting characters/even CONCEPTS like Carrot would not be great, considering that Carrot helped with the strawhats during Zou and Wano. Removing the CONCEPT of these characters (as in, their purpose, even if you don't name them) would be bad.
Usopp would totally be the guy high fiving Nami after she scores
I like that they have a good relationship. Them being HUMAN on a ship filled with MONSTERS gave them something to bond about and then they turned into lesser monsters that could at least cope with the scale. That's right, he didn't call him a pedophile at all in the video. He literally just said the fact that some characters with bigass tits and pervy outfits are 16. That's really common in every Shonen manga ever, and it doesn't mean you're saying the author is a pedo just to go "I don't like that shit".
for me it’s a read between the lines kinda situation, especially with the more recent stuff with other characters. He suggested it without saying it.

the crossing out of characters only makes sense if were trying to get to the end as fast as possible but the whole point of the series is to enjoy the adventure getting there. Like sure you COULD cut out señor pink but like then we miss out on a great story and character. One Piece isnt long cause Oda doesnt know how to end a story, its long cause he doesnt WANT to end it. He wants to flesh out an island with wacky stories and characters cause thats the point of the journey.
u get it
Also, I feel like he randomly crossed out characters. Like he crosses out Kid and Killer but Perona's plush thing is important to the story??
Fun fact about Sanji, he is a simp and a pervert. But not once did he ever SA a woman. Not once! Go look again. He never did.

I agree with some points, but others feel like a resented teenager who failed at life complaining about other people.
Slavery in One Piece isn't how you are saying and you simplify everything to sound like you are better than Oda.
Oda is not perfect, yet this felt like you are full of resentment to another creator.
One Piece is one of the longest running Mangas and anime in history and it even has a Netflix adaptation. Meanwhile, "So this is basically thinly veiled hate ranting" has ... ... ... Mmm. Well at least he feels good i guess.
"feel like a resented teenager who failed at life"
That's because that's exactly it.
Dude got blacklisted from the anime community after being kicked out from the dub of an anime he hated and wanted to butcher with HIS vision.
And now he's taking his frustration on a popular anime.
Dude is salty as hell.
I’m personally very biased, because Ive been a one Piece fan for a very long time now. I can see your criticisms of this series, and maybe as someone not entirely familiar with all of Oda’s quirks and personality I can understand why you’d feel a certain way about certain characters and moments. But this video felt more like an attack then playful satire, and I won’t abide it. Oda is an incredibly hard working mangaka, and there’s literally no one besides him that works as hard as he does for his art. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I cannot back a video like this in good faith
"Oda is an incredibly hard working mangaka" Jello said that, it's just to the point of being harmful to his own health... literally.
Dude he actively ignores the female characters and insists on sexualizing them even if they are young. Like he exaggerated some of the video sure. But as a one piece fan surely you aren’t blind to the clear issues with the story
@@AllyMonstersge literally attacked him and called him a pedo in the same scene. Plus he straight up lies about how he treats his editors. Most of his writing style comes from the advice he got from them, and gives them credit for it. Form the ace's reveal, to the worst generation, to the ways he writes backstories.
@@franklinumweni2359 Umm I never mentioned either of those things but okay. Well it doesn't help that Oda is still friends with the Rurouni Kenshin guy just because he got him his job when he was underage. As for the editors and such, if they give Oda such good ideas, then how come Oda doesn't trust them enough to not work himself to the bone?
@AllyMonsters one the rurouni kenshin was due to him mentoring oda for years, and don't get me wrong it's messed up that he is still friends with him but saying he is a PEDO HIMSELF is a different story. Two the editor's job is to jugbe, critic, and advise mangakas not to draw for them. So editor's help with background but they are not tasked with one drawing the story boards, making interaction's, writing his dialogue, or drawing the characters. There is still so much he has to do on a regular basis for over 25 years straight in a magazine that is known for having terrible work conditions so saying why he doesn't trust them to not work himself to the bone sounds so out of touch.

it’s okay to love/enjoy something but know it’s flaws
ex: i love berserk to death; do i think Miura is a bit of a creep? Yeah it’s kinda obvious with the amount of sexual assault present in his body of work
The more you like something the more likely you are to nitpick the shit out of it.
I'm just saying *someone* had to go through and decide which out of every single character in the series could be cut without a problem, and that's not something someone does without a passion driving them. Maybe not love. But certainly commitment.
You should be able to have criticisms for something you love and have some praise for something you hate.
or it means he holds a manga book club where he takes fan suggestions to read a thing, which he does
Honestly, I didn't know about the Lovely Complex situation until now, but after seeing that, I get where this comes from.
Uploading a video about something that you seem to have very...complicated feeling for, while likely still believing that your opinions on it are "correct" in some way, and the reception everywhere, including your own comment section, is extremely negative.

Linkara is nowhere near this level of condescending and mean-spirited.
Hell, he had to remove lyrics from his own theme song because they specifically targeted Frank Miller and Rob Liefeld and he felt they were gratuitous.
