Finally. I remember doing this experiment in school and telling people I extracted DNA and looked at it under a microscope. I could never remember the exact thing I used to get it and have looked for this experiment before.
Isn’t dna supposed to super long chain molecule like can be many centimeters long. Just wondering how it passes through filter pores? Perhaps kind of slides through lengthways? Can’t the strawberry be crushed by eg with a mallet or in a food mixer or would that break dna molecules? Maybe we can get the dna out and test it somehow.?
Actually, you can. As a molecular biology student I wouldn’t recommended to anyone doing it as an experiment at home. You would need a lot of blood to do this at home and you could even fail. So it is not worth it at all. You could try it with your own saliva instead. It is much more efficient.
the cell walls are broken down by the washing liquid because washing liquid contains chemicals that are quite good at breaking down cells. thats why we use it to clean things because it breaks down unwanted cells.
isnt she from the bbc show ab genetic thingy majiggy where they get people's long lost relatives together by finding dna i think YEAH FAMILY SECRETS THAT'S THE ONE i only know it cuz our science teacher put it on hahaha

Note that the soap breaks down the cell MEMBRANES (made of fats) - not the cell walls (made of carbohydrates).
Thank you
Who has only watched this video just cause the teachers told you to in year 6
Trueeeeeeee!
In year 8
year 7.
same but year 7
Year 7 I got a whole booklet
you had my curiosity... and now you have my attention.
and how do i get it out of the cup ?
use a bamboo skewer and dip it in the cup and get it out.
How do we know if what we got really is DNA?
cuz science
what do you think its a cookie or something?
@@HO-bk7kf Could just be mush from the strawberry
@@blaze8862 ye sure the same way juice from an apple is apple juice
Good question.. keep asking and do your own search to get answers and do this always and you’ll become a scientist. Just requires to put in hours.
excuse to buy white rum
Lovely.
lmaoooo real shit, im just tryin get wasted
@@YoloSwagginInABox This is next level bar tending
This is why I'm a biologist, there is no real lifestyle
Thank You! Works great, hand sanitiser will also work.
as an alternative to alcohol?
can we instead of alcohol by using sanitizer
What exactly is the use of the liquid detergent, ma'am?
This is a strobbery
Be berry afraid
I'm a furry
XDDDDDD
What is the hypothesis of this experiment
"from the telly"
" 'washing up' liquid "
So is the extracted DNA a pure DNA?
she had a spontaneous mix of american and british accent haha
Is is possible to cut this dna for dna fingerprint exp ?
doing this for my science experiment, thanks!
I got this as a science project
Hi
put the genome of big trees with sunflower rotation genes so we got mechanical movement and extract energy from it's movement

Usually DNA is "compressed" and tangled up around histones
In the final seconds of the clip the DNA is all tangled and in long strands like you’ve said
odd question. Can you do this from your own blood.

Why not puree the strawberry in the blender? does the strawberry need to be more in tact?
Why fire up a nlender for 2 or 3 strawberries when this method works just as well without all the cleanup?
The coffee filter is paper or cloth
Cheap paper coffee filter.
Can I use rubbing alcohol???
yes
THANKSSSSS
1:48 chemically how?

How do you proof that is DNA?
Take an X-ray photo of it to determine the structure

WOW
What next 🤔
I have to watch this whole video and write summary on this for assignment why 😢😢
omg
Please no blasphemy
Who is here from Marling?
Who are all from Madurai American College
Washing up liquid... hmm..
put the genome of mosquito eating plants in big trees so we get rid of mosquito bites
Nah......That’s just strawberry water........ you can buy that from Tesco if you really wanted
Who else is here for a harmonculas
Ok cool now bit it with a canid plant
I am in year 5 😂😂😂

is mayonnaise an alternative for strawberries in this experiment
