I graduated high school in 2011. Got a fulltime job within 1 week of graduation and saved all my money and bought my B7 a4 in the fall. I didn't know anything about maintenance. After several years it needed so much work I put it in storage... Then 10 years went by. This month I pulled it out of storage to finally work on it and now theres all these awesome videos on it! I should document the project.
I just bought the B7 and its gonna be my first car. Its gonna be delivered next week. and i keep watching videos about that car. Im so excited and happy!! cant wait! thanks for the video!
Omg no way, almost the same situation for me! I’m getting this car next week as my very first and I’m beyond excited, and I love watching videos like this. I test drove the car and LOVED it. Let me know how it goes!
@@nemomemo7553 Hey yo. My first car is a B7 as well. Bought it in spring last year. How you guys been doing with it? Which engines do y‘all rock? I love it, but my head gasket blew 💀
@@leonidassuomi I do have the Audi A4 2.0 (Type 8E, 2006) and im still in love with the car man. Been driving a lot and im still enjoying the rides. :)
I totally love my 2006 B7 ..I bought it 2009 ..Its simple mechanics and its quirks ha e been so easy to manage.. My daily driver for years .. Now retired im going to max out its performance limits from top to bottom .. And I continue to look foward to many more years and miles with her. . I did notice that A3 at the end of the video and that engine design could be a hassle but I was given the chance to drive one, when I put my car in for service and the size is very similar.. Best of luck, Enjoy the ride.
I bought the brand new designed 2018 Audi A4 Premium Plus with all the Bells and whistles. My last Audi was this one. I owned it for 6 months. The only Plus to that car I bought was the increased horsepower and the best Stereo (had the upgraded Bang and Ufsun 19 speaker stereo with 500 watts!). Cons, EVERYTHING. I hated all the tech. Having to stare at an I pad on my way home from work when I'm staring at a laptop all day. The interior was cheap and used cheap plastics, the seats were HORRIBLE. The dual clutch made the transmission jerk at low speeds. It also had vey thin sheetmetal and did not have that classic Audi "thid" when you close the doors. And they changed the quatro system. EVERYONE SAVE YOUR SELF #) GRAND AND GET A LOW MILEAGE B7 if you can find one. And get an APR Stage 1. That's what I did.
25:00 stop start gear solution, MANUAL. I’ve just bought a 2007 a4 3.2 v6 as my first car. My dad had always had Audis from when I was young. I love the fact that I was taught manual and both my dad and mom had a manual car I could Learn on
The darker 'gray' you're talking about is called 'Dolphin Gray' which was the hottest color at the time and usually sell out faster or special-ordered. As such I have a 2008 Dolphin Gray with the Homelink, Sport Suspension (lowered) and S-Line. Mine has about 89K on it as we speak. The car is pretty reliable I must say but you've gotta know how to upkeep it to be reliable. It still turns heads!
At 25 mins that's so true! When I need instant power like if I jumping into traffic it lags and then the turbo finally kicks in but it is a random moment of no movement!
I think it’s definitely the most beautiful Audi. Walter De Silva really put his heart and soul into the project. He came from Alfa Romeo and the front grill reflects that. Mine is a rare 261hp version and is really fast. I keep up with all the maintenance and it has been very reliable. I’ll never sell it !
Amazing review! Definitely the most in depth one I could find about this car on UA-cam. My parents are thinking about getting me this car as a first, just so I can drive myself to and from school. You’ve made me very excited about having this car as my first! Thanks a lot
i got this very car as my first car just a little over a month ago and it’s superb. the steering is super easy and the quattro system is amazing and the interior is super simplistic and aged really well. i couldn’t recommend the car more. sounds good and definitely drives good

The Homelink garage door opener was an option, based on the look of your car it seems its pretty base model, no headlight washers, manual rear mirror dimming, no memory seats, its really hit or miss with the spec of these B7 cars, I do love mine though.
Mine came stock suspension, but I pretty much put in on Audi S-line sport suspension. You can find the springs on eBay and they'll lower it to where it should be, not tuner slammed. No problems in the winter as long as you aren't being a hoon trying to get through two feet of snow. 🤣There is this company ECS who makes an Aluminum skid plate to replace the plastic one that cracks on everything. I would also recommend Koni active shocks and struts, sport performance with bumpy road comfort. Just don't forget to get sport bump stops, recommend sport sway bars or at least stiffer bushings, and adjustable upper front control arms to get your front camber back in check.
I had the transmission computer malfunctions and repaired it for $1,000 here in Taiwan. Also, because of it use so called "environmental friendly" material, I also replaced it's sagging sunroof and front lamp wires among others.
I love B6's and B7's. All of my friends are obsessed with these cars. We are always buying them, driving them for a few years and selling them on. I also have a 2017 A4 S-line but prefer my 2007 B7 S line. I just love it. Dolphin greys are the best. 1.9TDI's are the holy grail. If you get a 2.0TDI, make sure you change the hex key. Google balancer shaft failure. You have to do this fix.
Know exactly what you mean about the stopping in 2nd and being sluggish turning left across traffic. You don't necessarily need to put it in manual, just put it all the way back in S. Pretty much get into a habit of that and it's no inconvenience at all.
Totally agree with you, I love my B7 avant just like your model only without Turbo and even though, plenty of torque and power, I fixed many things and it made me tired but parts are available and reasonable price, I know all it's faults and it's possible to fix everything, one thing only , is the oil consumption but that's a known issue since car was new even, it consumes around 2 litres of oil every 10000 klm
great video! i’ve been trying to find videos or more info on the gearing cuz i thought something was wrong w my 2007 b7 i just picked up but couldn’t find anything on that acceleration from stops
My 06 has the home link in the visor and navigation plus system but didn't come with the shark fin antenna or wired for a satellite module in the trunk lol makes no sense
Mine has tried to kill itself twice, once in 2014 and again in 2021. Get the cam chain tensioner and cam chain replaced soon. Had the tensioner break off at about 135k miles, it wedged in the cam sprocket and seized the engine for a fraction of a second and jumped the timing by about 1”. Thankfully the valves didn’t hit the pistons and the timing just had to be reset along with the cam tensioner replacement and timing belt (About $1500 worth of parts, work done myself). Had a mechanic look at before hand, they didn’t even check to see if the engine was destroyed, just said there was no compression and the timing was off, said they don’t do engine rebuilds and quoted me $8000 to replace the whole engine. Second time was at 178k miles, the oil cooler cracked, dumped all of the oil from the engine onto the ground (About $1200 done by a mechanic). Now at 182k miles it’s starting to fall apart, looks to be bad fuel injectors, the turbo is starting to fail, wiring in the door has begun to fail, the accelerator peddle is going out and the throttle control arm is failing. I’ve put money down on a new car now, but while waiting I’m considering different options for the A4. I am half tempted to turn it into a project car and either rebuild the engine and upgrade the turbo, fuel injectors, exhaust and fuel pump with APR parts or replace it with the V6 or V8 engines. Still one of the best handling cars I’ve ever driven, but the reliability of original parts is pretty low past 100k miles.
A3 is a great car, probably what I'm realistically getting next, well maybe trade a few years and ~20k miles for a S3. 🙂2005 155k miles still going strong, planning its 20th year celebration in a couple years. I'll probably have this thing for a quarter million.
I drive mine up snow and ice covered mountains roads, on all seasons, thing just motors on up past all the trucks and SUVs spinning their tires. Part people not knowing how to drive in snow, but a large part from Quattro, thing is a goat.
How did the wheels do, did they bend after a while? Did they hold well? I have a Lexus, it does the 2nd gear at stops, but only if I set the vehicle to Snow, a switch on the dash, and is meant to prevent over-spin well... In the snow. I only have set it up when I was teaching my son how to drive as he used to slam the throttle on his first few drives.
