The part of this video that you did not see is the one where a spring jumped out and the watch repair guy crawling on his knees looking for it
OR
Where he dumped the whole movement in vinegar solution in ultrasonic to remove the rust, then ammonia to neutralize the vinegar, then a quick bath of alcohol, then a bath of ligher fluid followed by a little hair dryer action
and Whaa laaa, it ran like a champ...!!!
They used a cleaning solution instead of vinegar. For a repeater in good condition, a repair like that is possible, but expensive. but because of all the rust, this one required individually refinishing parts making it even harder

These minute repeaters are so cool! Unfortunately the one I desire is $50,000.00 ++.
But wow! They are awesome!
Depending on parts, it can be $1000+ to have a restoration like this done. I spent $300 alone to have a modern watch overhauled, but that also included getting all the scuffs out of the bracelet.
That's skill few trades can match

What kind of rust remover?
Is that paully d the horologist?
Is it calibrated? And what is the range of error +/- a day ? In other words how accurate the time ? What city and country is Gray and son located?

@freedomforall3 Even better. If a surgeon makes a cut a little too large, it's not a problem, because people heal. Clocks don't. :D
Not of that incision is on one's spinal cord or brain though.
Oh yea, no big deal if the surgeon cuts a section of your heart he wasn't supposed to touch, no biggie, it will heal. Fraction of an inch to big in the wrong part of the brain, you are paralyzed. What a silly comment to make.

Actually this kind of thing would be reliant on the condition of the watch in question, if it was this one, a rusted minute repeater, i'd say someone spent at least $10K on that restoration

@@tonytiger75 O yes i can. With modern microscopes and chemistry + CNC machines, everything is possible. Did you ask yourself how many transistors your computer have? They are millions. And that "big company" have issues with 300 parts watch?! Man, come on, be more serous. :D :D
