Thank you, this guide was extremely well worded and easy to follow. I've been wanting to get into healing as disc for a long time but its felt a bit scary. This guide definitely pushed me into finally trying it. Subbed.
Hey man thanks for the comment and I'm glad the guides helped. I have guides out now for all the healers so feel free to check them out if you're still browsing for your main lol. :D

Edit: Thanks again to Soshspot for correcting me on this. I'm so glad I was wrong lol! Power Word: Shield on the tank? Won't that stop them from building rage and get everyone killed? Is there some way around this that I don't know about like a piece of equipment or talent? I just came back to Retail and made a priest because I loved the healer role in Classic (My old main in Retail was DPS) so forgive me if I'm missing something but putting Power Word: Shield on the tank sounds like a terrible idea.
@@soshspotgames4380 Oh, did they change it then? That's really cool. Thanks for the quick reply and being so understanding. I'm still trying to get my head around healing in Retail like how we're expected to do damage as well as heal, that's why I'm doing the discipline spec. In Classic (holy priest), my job was literally to just stay in the back and keep pouring heals into the tank lol!
@@xandervampire195 yeah no worries mate, it's definitely a very different game. Tanks are mostly self-sustaining unless very under geared, or doing high level content. Healers are therefore expected to contribute to dps as much as they can. Dps are expected to not stand in shit, use CC and interupts as needed, and do maximum damage possible. Of this perfect group dynamic scarcely works this way in reality lol.
You might be Talented into "Purge the Wicked" talent which replaces Shadow Word: Pain. Or you are under the Disc Tab in the spell book and not the Priest Tab in the spell book. :)
if you took the Purge the Wicked talent, as suggested in the video, you would then not have Shadow Word Pain in your spellbook since Purge the Wicked replaced SW: Pain. :)
Hey Tinc. So Atonement is a passive buff that is automatically applied to party members when you use Power Word Shield, Power Word Radiance or Shadow Mend on them. Atonement should be kept on as many party members as possible while your group is in combat so that you can deal damage to enemies and passively heal your group. Using Power Word Shield to apply this Atonement buff is simply the easiest way to do that since the shield is instant cast.
All of the information I found as of writing this guide stated Solace was the better pick. I'm not aware of any further changes for Disc Priest that might have changed that.
@@soshspotgames4380 cool cool, i cant remember the video I was watching but I confirmed all of the update guides still say go with solace. Thanks for the reply!
Your healer guides have been super helpful to a new player like me! I just switched to horde so rn I’m thinkin between a disc priest and resto druid
Both excellent choices! Enjoy your new main! :)

No it won't stop them from generating rage. This isn't classic my friend. Prot warriors generate an obscene amount rage. : )

Great video! Can you share the addon and profile used for the UI?
Yah made a whole video covering my add-ons if you do a quick search!
How is such quality content coming from a channel with 163 subscribers? Well, now 164 .
ah, it's always slow for a new channel. lol. WoW's grind has nothing on UA-cam's grind lmao.
And....thanks for the support. It means alot. :)
okay im new to this, im currently disc spec. however im not seeing shadow word pain in the spellbook. im only seeing shadow word death

So attonement + power word shield eeds to be kept on every single member at all times or just keep the shield on tank and attonement on the rest?

Nice vid, but i cringed every time he mispronounced pseudo.
I noticed that too! But good guide for me, switching from Holy
I thought mindbender sims better now because of the increased cooldown on solace now?

swaydoe, like playdoe. Also the fact that you sit at 30% mana and never used shadowfiend makes me sadface
Lol I know I look back and cringe. But I was in discord fuckin off with some buddies. Mainly just wanted the dungeon footage for background haha. :P
