Maybe your father would consider giving International Army some Korean history lessons? Being from the US most of us only know about Korea from the Korean war in the 50s, It's been so interesting becoming a fan of BTS and not only loving and learning about an amazing group of young people but also learning about Korean history and culture. 💜

I would really, really love that. I love history and have read a couple small books I found on Korean history, but most that I have had access to focus mostly on the Korean War and not all the rich details of what came before. I think that because that is what western audiences have wanted to consume up to now? I would really love to get a lesson from a Korean with input about the culture as well :D

Yes. I want to learn about Choson! I heard the Korean peninsula has one of the purest bloodlines and wonder how with so many resources you have to offer and surrounding countries trying to enter and take control like China and Japan? I also vaguely remember korea being 3 kingdoms at one point I think but have no further knowledge of where that falls in the timeline. I don't think us Americans are really taught much at all about Korea previous to the General MacArthur and UN timeline...

Oh I've heard the other facts about king gwanghae and the movie from armys but this is the first time I knew that music for daechwita was born was on the period of king gwanghae
It adds even more meaning!
I knew king gwanghae from wikiped of "kings of korea" but same as you, i got a lesson from this history teacher that daechwita composed in king gwanghae era.
I'm history addict, just reach silla era in history of korea 😌 still long journey to go to joseon era 😣 but cos of BTS i search about this

아미들이 방탄곡이 나오면 워낙 늘 서사가 크고 깊은데다 가사,소품,배경,장소등등 뭐하나 그냥 나오는건 없기 때문에 무슨뜻인가 싶어서 지금까지
철학,문학,예술,무용,미술,신화,역사등등
공부하기 시작하는데 지금도 대취타 알아보다가 조선 역사공부하는 아미들이 많죠.특히 외국 아미들에겐 전부 모르고 생소한것이기 때문에 예전부터 늘 한국아미에게 엄청 물어보고 각자 인터넷으로 찾아보고 진짜 열정적으로 공부해요~
그래서 번역하는 아미들이 또 열일해주고..방탄과 아미,서로,각자 모두에게 선한 영향력이 전해지는데 정말 대단하죠😊👍
뮤비는 2016년 과거의 어거스트디와 2020년 현재의 어거스트디의 대립이예요~
가사는 안티들에게 하는 말인데 그동안 예전부터 아주 찰지게 때렸었다면 이번엔 그냥 목을 쳐버렸네요ㅋ

가사가..욕도 찰지고 풍자,비판이 적나라하거든요
아미들은 체증이 확 내려가는 사이다인데 잘 모르는분이 볼땐 놀라셨을까 걱정..ㅎ
이번 믹테가 10곡이 나왔는데 다른 곡들도 가사를 보면 공감하지 않을수가 없는 곡이 많아서 들으면 많은 생각이 들고,많은 얘기를 하게 되는거 같아요..
방탄곡이 대부분 그렇고 각 멤버들이 쓴 가사가 다 그렇긴한데 유독 인생 몇회 더 살아온거 같은 민윤기는 더 그런면이 있어요
본인 말처럼 단맛.쓴맛.똥맛까지 다 봐서인지..
아직 어린데도 산전.수전.공중전까지 거쳐온 사람이라 더 깊어진듯 해요..

특히 앨범과 연관된,모티브인 책들도 세계관이나 앨범.곡의 주제와 메세지를 알기위해 다 읽어보게 되는데 맵옵솔 시리즈 앨범의 융의 영혼의 지도는 진짜 어려웠네요;;
근데 가사와 여러 영상들과 같이 보다보면 또 쉽게 느껴지고..암튼..대단해요 진짜👍
그래서 자동으로 아미들이 지식과 상식,교양이 쌓이고 있답니다😊
아ㅡ신라시대 얘기가 나오는건 전에 뷔가
'화랑'이라는 드라마를 찍었었거든요~
퓨전사극이지만 스타일이나 스토리 같은걸 보고 신라.백제.통일신라..
그렇게 그때 공부했기에 잘 알아요^^
외랑둥이들이 물어보면 잘 모르던 한국아미도 같이 덩달아 공부하게 되니까
서로에게 참 좋은 영향인거 같아요~😊
나중엔 방탄 덕질하다 518,일제강점기등 울 나라 역사에 대해서 잘 알게된 아미들도 보실겁니다ㅎ

그 내용이 언제나 늘 가사에,평소 아미들에게 해오던 말들이고 지금까지도 하는 얘기들이라 더 진정성이 느껴져 감동이고 어리지만 참 존경스럽다라는 생각을 하게 만들었어요ㅡ

차분하고 좀 더 성장한 현재의 어거스트디(평민)가 분노하고 폭발적이었던 4년전의 어거스트디(왕)을 총으로 죽인 것은 과거의 자신을 잊겠다는 뜻이기도 하대요! 그리고 칼을 이기는게 총이라서 총을 쏜게 아니냐 과거보단 지금이 더 강력함을 어필한게 아니냐는 아미분들의 해석이 있었어요😁
이번 믹테에 수록된 곡 중에는 Burn it이라는 노래가 있는데 전체적인 내용이 과거의 자신을 태우자는 내용인것 같아요..!
개인적으로 또 4년전 Agust D 트랙과 이번 D-2트랙의 분위기 차이가 달라졌다는걸 느꼈어요..! 4년전은 가사가 되게 직설적이고 강렬하고 노래도 그랬는데 이번에는 되게 몽환적이고 추상적이고 생각을 많이 하게 되는 느낌이었어요! (어떻게 생각해 제외..)
어쨌는 4년간 변화로 인해 자신의 성장을 보여줌으로서 아미들에게 감동을 주었던 앨범입니다.. 이번 앨범에 슈가가 다 참여했대요..! 멋있다 민윤기...

thank you for the brief Korean history lesson💜 as an international fan I've been introduced to so much information about Korean culture through BTS music, they really do represent Korea to the rest of the world so well.

광해이전부터 군악의 성격을 가진 음악들은 존재했으나 기록에 ‘대취타’로 명명되기 시작한 건 광해군 시절부터라고 하네요. 아 정말 전 덕질을 했을 뿐인데 내 가수 덕분에 국악도 국사도 공부하는 일석 삼조 사조 오조 완전 민슈가 사랑입니다. 💜👍

in other interviews, suga said and rm also talks about how they worry about their success. suga once shared an emotional moment when he cried in the shower after an american awards show. he said he cried not because of reflection on their hard work and finally success but mostly about being afraid, not knowing if he has it in him to meet the expectations of others. the king is his alter ego, someone that grew within him as he fought off the self doubts and agony created by his haters. now a king, he feels he has slayed his haters with his success but that it comes with a price (there is a dark aspect to be at the top which he questions). he wishes to return to his slave roots so that he may once again follow the path of dreams, hard work, perseverance along with the support of his army. his haters are dead bodies near the beginning, the servants who bow later are his converters and in the end they are his followers. in the village, he makes a silent pact with the butcher who later is the executioner that frees him and gives him the gun. suga shoots the king before the king completely takesover his combine self. rm also once talked about keeping his ego in check in order to keep from falling into idleness, and ideas of self grandiose, things that take people off of their originally intended paths.

There are clans in Korea, just like clans in Japan, recognized by their surnames. Min, Kim, Park, Lee. Kim and Park are clan descendants from kings, and there are clans which are merchants like Park. Yes! Yoongi is member of Yeoheung Min Clan (驪興 閔氏/ 여흥 민씨), a very powerful clan like Gwangsan Kim Clan during Joseon dynasty. Queen Inhyeon of King Sukjong, Queen Wongyeong of King Taejong, the last empress of Korea- Empress Myeongseong, and Empress Sunmyeong all were from this clan. This clan had important roles in politics of Joseon dynasty.
(Jin) Kim Seokjin & (V) Kim Taehyung are distant relatives with royal bloods. Both are members of Gwangsan Kim Clan (光山金氏/ 광산김씨), a very prominent clan in Joseon dynasty (1312-1910). The Min family is one of the few Korean surnames that comprises a single clan (Yeoheung). In contrast the Kim family has more than 100 clans. Until 1997, you could not marry someone from a same clan because s/he would be considered a family member. The progenitor of the Min family is said to have come from China during the Northern Song dynasty. Suga is the 31st generation from this person. Incidentally Sunye (ex-Wonder Girls) and Min Kyunghoon (of Knowing Brothers fame) are the 32nd gen, and hence, Suga would technically be their uncle.

South Korea is so lucky to have a group like BTS who uses their platform perfectly, encouraging people for selflove and show to their fans how to respect as they were the right role model and they even promote their culture not just to their neighboring country but all over the world. Oh ok i read abt the ref of King Gwanghae in this MV but this is the 1st time i learn that Daechwita, as a march music, was create during his reign. Indeed Suga once again shown that he didnt make a lyric, song even reference just for the sake of making music, but he really carefully learn n preparinv alot before making a song.
