It is a seriously beautiful MV and Suga is so hot even when he is an evil bloodthirsty King
1000% agree
Tell me about it I feel like d wording rn 😣💕
Lol especially when he's an evil bloodthirsty king
The mv gave ff writers ideas 🤣🤣
I know right love him💜
I think he's showing that he won't allow the crazed king of fame & power to kill the street rat that is the 윤 기 himself. Kind of like Shadow. I like your take on it!!
Wow that is a good explanation
Reminds me of crazy queen Danyreies somehow
Thought something similar
I agree, that’s wha took from it too.
Yasss I loved your explanation 💜💜💜
when there's no bighit intro, you know its gonna be *RAW*
I didn't even peep that the intro was missing
Ofc they dont do the intro for their mixtape’s MVs
Wait i didnt realize-
bruh i didn’t realize that
Damn wow yeahh haha
I feel like the black haired one is the part of himself from the past when he was a poor kid from Daegu. The long haired version is the current one that is surrounded by fame and money. At the end, the long haired one wanted to get rid of the old past self but when he tried he couldn't come to killing his old self and the old self kills his current large ego version.
so Daegu is represented by the streets in the video clip where he is casually walking by and nobody really notices him because he is just himself.
👏👏👏
Woooaah meeeen
Love this!!
It is just that the Yoongi in the past (old self) lives in the future (currently in time) and the Yoongi in future (the King) lives in the past. The setting somehow has been exchanged and does not go parallel with the true values in each existing original setting.
Seokjin was going to fishing in Joseon period 😅😂
And accidently hit JK on the head with the rod, leading to a fight 🤣
That might explain why Jin never ages: he’s literally always been around
@@Isabella-no1kh maybe Jin has the mystic bambu flute in king: eternal monarch 🤭
And create Eat Jin in those times but with the people really seeing him eat since there were no tech back then.
😂😂😂😂😂
I will wait for “daechwita explained”
Follow my ig! @cgjosephine 😂
YASSS
Amen to that
Yep
absolutely
I'm korean. But me to.
My theory:
King- Famous Yoongi
Other yoongi- Past Yoongi
When the other Yoongi went to shoot the king(famous yoongi), he’s trying to say that he wants to stay as his past self. He doesn’t want fame to kinda like change him, I guess. Like in his Interlude: Shadow song, he talked about how fame changed him and he wants to be his true self again. So when he shoots the king(Famous Yoongi/Recent Yoongi), he’s trying to say he wants to get rid of that and be himself. I think his message is that he has all this stuff like cars, big house, etc and that won’t change him. He will still be himself.
EDIT: 800 likes?! Sjsjksn TY ARMYY and to those who agree with my theory.
I definitely agree with your theory
i think this is the theory that I agree with the most
ua-cam.com/video/6aTwExchm5E/v-deo.html
Look at this movie ("Gwanghae") reaction. The basic story follows the movie "Gwanghae"
@🤍 I feel like on the past few minutes I learned more then i ever did during school 😂, I got three days left😰
Yoongi's family from Min clan. This clan has relations to the last korean royal family.
Oh I thought it was Min family from the *Yeoheung* clan
omg!I think u r right about last scene! Cuz in moonlight (in mixtape), he said My biggest enemy is the anger inside me! U r genius!
don't bring a knife to a gun fight!
Jesus velzc I laughed although I know it’s true 😂
U never know😂😂 what if it hits the sword n bounce back🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣
Jesus velzc under appreciated
Hahahaha....good one 😁
As a fan of BTS and Taylor Swift I understand this on a double level
I feel that Yoongi is saying that even though he does have all this money and expensive stuff and attention he won’t change just because of that and that he will always stay truthful to himself.
I love your profile picture!
I still think that the scar on his face represents the movie "Scarface" that starred Tony Montana (Yoongi and Jimin performed a song named Tony Montana together, where Yoongi states that he feels like Tony Montana, who in the movie, was this man with power and money and as his power grew so did his arrogance and pride/ego) that makes the most sense to me. Ruler D being shot by Peasant D (which are both parts of Agust D) is a metaphor to represent Peasant D putting an end to his shadow, who had malice in his anger. UGH! might be the continuation of the gun shot at the end where the main message is "extinguish anger full of malice".
I'm here from twitter wherein I read a k-army's interpretation and take on this one: people who had deformed face or had scars and marks on their face wouldn't be considered higher class, let alone an emperor. Same with blonde hair. Yoongi single handedly reversed the stereotype, stating that "I'm here despite all the flaws you picked on me".
Another take they had was that in 2016 Agust D had a seperate identity from the 'idol' Suga. After Map Of The Soul: Persona, D-2's Daechwita had the correct motive to end the old Agust D as Min Yoongi shot him because he had accepted himself and that he doesn't need to hide behind his persona.
Remember what Namjoon rapped in Intro: Persona ("persona, who the hell am I?")
To which Yoongi rapped in Interlude: Shadow ("you are me, I am you, now do you understand?") as a reply.
We saw Love Yourself trilogy connect, it's interesting to see Persona, Shadow and Ego themes connect too. BTS has taken Carl Jung's theory to another level.
EDIT: it's interpretation from a k-army don't @ me. Since they're Korean and know their own language better, I'm just putting down their thoughts based on what they interpreted.
I wouldn't say his killing his shadow, but his inflated persona who tried to kill his shadow. Think about Jung theory, according to it your self is a mixture of your ego and shadow, being the persona the expation of the ego and your inner world a reflaction of your shadow. Normally when someone's kill the king they become the next king, represanting the unification of these two sides. Also Jung talks about archetypes and one of them is the king, a representation of the mature masculine. You can also see some of these archetypes in the MV of ego when Hobi is king of dreaming wich is a way we connect with our inner world.
In Korea, you can't be a king with a scar on your body and yoongi aka Agust D just broke that stereotype. Also, his Agust d persona has heavy "Scarface" movie influence (also explains the scar on his face). Tony Montana (also a track from his previous agust d album) is the protagonist in the movie, he's also literally from rags to riches. Also how the greed consumed him and such. YOONGI IS SUCH A GENIUS ARTIST
Edit: Apparently, it's the other way around. The woman marrying a king shouldn't have a scar on his body. I was thinking of the protagonist guy in SCARLETHEART RYEO who has a big scar on his face similar to yoongi in the mv and the only way he could show his bare face in public was by putting on make up or concealer which is done by IU's character. My comment was based on that thought process lol. That's for the input btw!
Not quite. In Joseon (not Korea) the rulers were not allowed to marry a woman with a scar. They could have scars.
from what i know it is ok to be a king with a scar because they go to battle field and it’s inevitable for the king not to get scarred. however it is different for a woman, to be a queen, they shouldnt have any scar bc a scar represents a lowlife.
yeah plz don’t spread misinformation
Thats not true actually if u ask Koreans they don't know what that's abt I thought it was from a kdrama script lmao but don't spread around things that are misinformation
mehmeh lol from what I know a Prince should not have any scars as they are the face of the future nation but when he ascends the throne any scars thereafter would be see as battle scars
My theory:
Agust D 1 (white hair) is fighting with Agust D 2 (black hair)
And in the end Yoongi kills his past self - meaning he moved on from the problems he talked about in the first album
*big brain time*
I heard someone say that in the last he said 'min yoongi is dead, i killed him' som maybe the two are Agust D and Suga. Maybe he wants to say that he doesn't need different egos anymore, because he now knows that they are all part of him and thats why he killed 'himself'.(kinda relating to MOTS 7). Idk, i just read a comment about this somewhere
OMG you have the best reactions , I really into it ... This is AgustD2 KING firts second I listened gave me chills !!
I feel like the ’peasant’ suga was on his way to kill ‘king’ suga. The king representing what he could be in the future (big headed, etc) and the peasant suga is trying to stop that and in doing so he wouldn’t be so ignorant and careless, hope that makes sense :))
Yeaah, and the black hair Yoongi wears modern clothes, came in a car and used a gun, as if he came from the future, he is "ahead of its time"
I think you're right David; he's killing the part of himself that was obsessed with fighting with haters and ashamed of growing up poor. He has come to realize that he doesn't need to be that guy anymore. I also think that slight nod to "Ugh" is deliberate. He is acknowledging that there are better uses for anger then just raging at haters.
In a live yoongi said that the kings Name is "Anger", so it would make sence that He tries to kill the MAD and corrupt Anger
9:12 omg you are right. the mv behind the scene is out today and yoongi explained that the king was the past agust d who's full of anger and became like the mad king and the new agust d is there to stop him.. he also explained that the one who was walking at the market was the new agust d and he made eye contact with the butcher that time foreshadowing the plan at the end and yes basically the one tasked to behead him (the butcher) was a traitor to the mad king
I heard that the scar is here bc in the past in Korea u couldn’t become the king if u have a scar on your face
Yoongi doesnt give a fck, he is the king anyway🔥
no the rule is they can't marry a woman with a scar. there's no rule about the king.
He said the scar was inspired by Tony Montana’s Scarface.
@@lamxlas7858 is there any source for this actually, i've been trying to look for it but couldn't find anything
@@midashq If i'm not mistaken you may know this rule by watching from kdrama - Scarlet Heart Ryeo which is the prince who has scar same exactly like suga.
No..if you don't become a king, you just get kicked out of the palace or possibly get killed
Seriously been waiting for your reaction David and prepare to be blown away which features Jin and Jungkook too. I can't Jinkook is too much I just love them
i see everyone here talking abt theories or coming up with them and im just here like
*david kinda cute tho 😳*
IKR?! The whole reaction was so damn cute, the way he was so hyped omfgg i can't really he acted so cutee 😂😂😂😂
My theory for Suga’s blonde hair is that its the last Agust D who grown his hair with part of him as mad King. The black-haired Agust D is what he truly is and want to be killing off the King in him coz he want to stay grounded using his anger for good and not be consumed by it
Daeng, dwachita, and UGH this is theee realetr
I’m dead that gun shot into ugh😂😂
Your Hair: on point
This song: also on point
:D
Oh... I think I know what you did there 😏
Everyone:theories
Me:fangirling at how cute David looks when he's hyped
You should check out the whole mixtape it's pure genius. The story telling each track is always top notch. My favorite track is "What do you think?" (어떻게 생각해?) lyrical wise.
THAT WAS MY FAVORITE TRACK TOO YOONGI WENT OFF 😭🙏
I heard that a king in korea cant have a scar in their body, but suga have it and he still can be a king, i dont know, just guessing, btw thankyou so much for the reaction❤️
Yes I was thinking the same things too
Yup represent his struggles possibly yet even though he been through stuff he overcame it and now is successful. I’m guessing lol
What does it means if the king have scars ? Is it good or bad ?
@@hanabisummer It's no considered good. In korean culture you cannot be a king or queen if you have a scar on your face. (If I'm wrong do correct me)
You can't be the king if you have a scar, but he is a king in the mv. It is like, you can't be famous or big if you are from a small company, but they are now the biggest boyband in the world.
I was told that in Korea if you have a scar you can't be king, but min yoongi broke that stereotype and became king with a scar on his face.
*i stan a king.*
The fact that u can understand the lyrics, wow he rapped clean.
Ikr
Waiting for explanation of this video!! 💜💜💜🔥
David you have a WHOLE album of content to explain 😛
I truly appreciate your reactions as the views given seem to be straightforward and succinct. Those of us nonKoreans get an insight to the Korean culture we would not usually get. Thank you!💜
Recently, I've been watching UA-cam videos about Korean history from the Frog Outside The Well channel, so when you mentioned Gwanghaegun, immediately I recognised that he was one of the 2 deposed kings of the Joseon dynasty. Unlike the other deposed king Yeonsangun, who was deposed for being a tyrant and known to kill people at his own whim, Gwanghaegun was deposed for more political reasons. Only he and Yeonsangun do not have temple names, but instead have "gun" at the end of their names, indicating that they were deposed kings.
Gwanghaegun was also the king that appeared in several Korean period dramas & movies, such as "Masquerade", "The Crowned Clown", "Hong Gil Dong", "The King's Face" & "The Tale of Nokdu". The theme of these dual characters also appears in "Masquerade" & "The Crowned Clown". One is the king and one is a commoner who stands in for the king. So the question is, who is the real king? The one who is on the throne, or the apparent commoner? When you look at it this way, then it makes sense why at the end of the music video, the commoner kills the king. Because the commoner is actually the real king, and not the person who is on the throne.
Do you know where Suga filmed this music video though? Did he film in one of the actual palaces? Or was this filmed on a period drama set? And if he did film in one of the actual palaces, which one did he film at? Could it have been filmed at a palace where Gwanghaegun actually lived, or in one that he had a hand in building or rebuilding?
I'm looking forward to the DKDKTV Explained video for this song & music video, because I'm sure it will be filled with Korean culture and Korean history. There would be a lot to explain to those who are not familiar with such things.
honestly tho, i really like AgustD's *language* and i think that's one of his best and unique color
They didnt mention all those curse words in the official bighit translation on the video lmao. IARMY bobbing along all innocently 😂😂😂
Theres mostly korean swearing in it .. and english swearing barely makes an appearance in the lyrics..
No words...Suga is phenomenal! Besides their amazing talent, these boys can act! I mean they need to do a story piece. Love your reactions! ❤️ I learn sooo much!
I swear a lot of UA-cam reactions are waiting for your breakdown on this song. &So was I.
I swear Agust D always goes hard. Cant expect any less from this literal king.
We need explains david.. Helpp internatioanal Army :'''
I always love your reaction 💕
I missed jin and jungkook in the background too till my friend pointed out
same
My jaw dropped when the MV started - like the traditional setting is just gorgeous. The colours, his makeup and costumes - the mix of modern with traditional styling. He looks AMAZING. (That shot of his face beneath the woven hat just before the beat drops, I NEED that as a poster!) Seriously, Yoongi is the definition of Fine. Loved the song, as always with him so powerful and meaningful and just taking NO shit. Other rappers posture, but he's really been through so much that I feel like it's authentic coming from him, like he's earned the right to call himself a King and I love it! Love him so much and as always love your videos and analysis of their vids. This and your other channel are always the first channels I seek out for our reactions and explanations on our amazing boys from Korea.
Yes! I can't get enough with a badass/ mad king AGUSTD!
Also, you didn't catch Jin & JK cameo at 0:58 in the MV
Towards the end he talks about how he's achieved everything he wanted. He wanted clothes, money, and to reach his goals. But what's next? He then says that he realized after reaching the top that he wants to be able to put his feet on the ground.
If we Americanize the message here, Yoongi is basically illustrating in this MV that "he's been from the hoods & will forever be as he worked his way up from rags to riches" . Hence, he wont let the spotlight/fame alter his true/old self & initial purpose. He doesnt wanna spoil himself to the point he forgets where he came from or waste his anger & time on haters while simultaneously acknowledging how fellow artists could be popping pills amid experiencing issues that come with fame & intense scrutiny from kmedia.
This MV portrays Suga's true self now. There is no high flying he can do as he achieved all he wanted. His reality check besides what comes with fame/wealth, is chosing to stay true to himself at the present & whatever the future holds for him, be humble, down to earth & keep doing what he is best at.
when he goes "OOOOOOH" and zooms in on his face omg. he's so so excited, i love this... like same this was how i felt
AHHH DAVID I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR REACTION!!
David always delivering THE CRACK! Thank you, another great reaction/explanation!
Yep, I think you cracked the theory, I really hope the last scene does relates to “Ugh”.. That would be so awesomely dope.. Suga and BTS , I felt I’ve just attended a class at “Big Hits Educational Thinking University “..🤔 PHEW!!! 🥴Thank you 🙏💕
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS 😭😭 THANK YOU
I think your theory is so good!! It makes so much sense since he mentioned that in this mixtape he wanted to show he's loosened up and it's a good feeling. He also mentions his anger being an enermy in some of the other songs.
YESS!! i was waiting for your analysis video!
Thank you! Been waiting for your reaction
I was so shooketh by the mv. Like everything just fits. I feel like the black haired Suga is the rebel who returned to humble himself. He made a deal with the butcher, who turns out to be the executioner, to help him take out the tyranical king. The tyranical king being the current Suga. It's like he was saying the king is back but i won't let my pride get the best of me. The exchange of glances between the rebel and the butcher at the start was subtle but EPIC
i love when David does those big head bops with a huge smile when he gets excited like in the beginning
ur an angel
Hey David please tell us even the censor. Lol.
Actually I always watched ur reaction and your explanation because I know you got to explain well your culture and the lyrics. Hihi.
Thanks david, your the best.
I was waiting for you video and its finally here!!!!
omg your reaction got me even more hype. i love it
Bro I’m pretty sure we didn’t get most of it and we missed a lot so I really NEED you to do a EXPLAIN video I’ll be waiting for the notification. Great reaction and stay safe.
DAVID YOU LOOK LIKE 10 YEARS YOUNGER WITH THIS HAIR AND HOODIE VIBE I LOVE IT
Yeesss thats exactly what i thought about the ending too!!! i"m into it man! Loved watching your reaction!
yes! i love your take on this, it fits really well with the MV
I've never been so early in my life. I was waiting for your reaction and interpretation. I think the connection with UGH makes sense as well. I love the sudden drop of this mixtape. Thanks!!!
I'll come back after work David 😊✌🏾💜
THIS VIDEO IS SO UTTERLY STUNNING , from the costume to the set to the incredible expressions yoongi portrayed with finesse the entire time. it's like I'm watching a conceited , lowkey maniacal yet breathtakingly regal emperor from the past. I simply can't take my eyes away.
I was waiting for your reaction all day. Seriously.
Thank you.
David we International army urgently need an explanation video for this MV to recommend around.
It's such a insanely good beat, suga looks such a bad ass 🙌 King Yoongi 🙌🙌🙌🙌
I'm reminded of the one verse in "The Last"... "Min Yoongi's already dead. I killed him"
I love how hyped you get when you're doing these! So relatable.
I love your reviews .. you are real real and I am here for it
DAMN I NEEDED THIS
JINKOOK CAMEO AND BANG PD PICTURE... SO BRILLIANT!!!
I loved your explanation!!! Thank you! Always find it very helpful ♡
I really really love your reaction David. 💜💜 TY so much
I love the Joker reference, I didn't pick up on that at first, especially since he says "Why so serious?" in one of the other tracks on the album. 🤯
This MV reminds me of the plot of the Korean movie “masquerade” although im sure their are plenty other connection to Korean history as well as his own
Yup the movie is bout the Joseon Dynasty
South Korean period drama film starring Lee Byung-hun in dual role as the bizarre King Gwanghae and the humble acrobat Ha-sun, who stands in for the monarch when he faces the threat of being poisoned.
Great movie by the way. Love Min Yoongi
I loved hearing your interpretation! Thanks for the great video!
David! I really love the way you explain each video and make people understand it more.
Oh in another song People he says why so serious 3x I’m so serious 3x idk if that has to do with the joker.
He said in the song that he is a tiger not a pill popper like you. Something like that . So I guess he is says that he doesn't need drugs to succeed.
Finally! I was waiting for your reaction whole day 😂
I was so excited to see David's reaction and I wasn't disappointed
Yoongi: *getting rid of his tyrannical self a.k.a, his useless anger*
Also Yoongi: *continues to paint his art in his studio in peace about the same time the MV dropped*
I think it’s easier than we think: He wanted to execute his past self to get rid of his (not so good) past. But this isn’t the reality. The reality is that it’s the past who shaped him into what he is right now. No one can escape the past self. It’ll always remain as a shadow somehow. Every achievement, every move, every down and everything we say and do on a daily basis is shaped by our past. This is why the black haired yoongi got rid of his ties. As he said in the video... he got everything from clothes to money but what’s next? Always stay down-to-earth. BTS as a whole themselves said in an interview back then that they are grateful for their past self because without it they wouldn’t be who and where they are now. You have to love the one you were in the past. With every mistake and failure. Don’t try to ‘punish‘ or to escape it by tying it up. You’ll just end up how the king yoongi did if you won’t accept yourself. And accepting yourself includes your past as well.
Haven’t watched your videos in months but you’re glowing man
omg i lost count of how many times i got chills from your reaction
"This music video is actually based on a movie.
The Real King (Black haired Yoongi) noticed that someone wants to poison him so he decided to search for a certain person who looks, talks and acts like him to take his role while he investigates.
There he found a slave (Blonde Yoongi) and make them look identical, he gave Blond Yoongi a scar.
If you haven't noticed Blonde Yoongi has a fresh and new scar while Black haired Yoongi's scar looks old and healed.
Blond Yoongi being a slave also explains the lyrics:
"Born as a slave now I'm a king"
Blond Yoongi suddenly became cocky and greedy because he was sitting in the King's throne. He started to end innocent people life's because he felt like he has the right to. He became really greedy to the fact where he wanted to be a king for life, he ordered his men to find and kill the real king, Black haired Yoongi.
But the man who was ordered to kill Black haired Yoongi knows who the real king is, which is why he gave him a gun."
This is not my idea, I copied it from comments from the official video. Please let me know what you think about it!
I can't tag the person who wrote it, because I accidentally didn't screenshot her/his name. sorry
THEORY TIME: (I won't say that old yoongi new yoongi thing because it's obvious, everyone knows so besides that:)
In the mv 1:23 So there are 6 guys with him(I guess representing bts) in the room and the woman(army) holding the box gives yoongi a key, is that a representation of ARMY and BTS?
Oh then those three heads(king yoongi looking executing people from abalconylike thing, there are 3 heads hanging) supposed to be BIG3? Am I overthinking? (oh and when he got a gun from that boxy thing-that boxy thing was used for those dead peoples head, they were putting the heads to that box thing, and then they did some kind of ritual in the end and blackhaired yoongi took a gun from that box? Then killrd king yoongi, and while doing it so there were 6 torches around them.)
Yup, the end.
Wow! That reaction and meaning explanation of you hit hard! You did an awesome job!
One of my favourite reactions so far haha. It was really fun to watch ^^
*watching the king : eternal Monarch and watching yoongi's MV*
They are giving me a lot of theories . I know this doesn't make sense but I loved your reaction David ! 💜
It feels like the setting of Kingdom
They used the same setting it belongs to MBC
thats what I thought too
Wow David. Loved your reaction and excitement for this video. You got me pumped up. Thanks for the explanation of some of the traditions in the video. Love you.
Your reactions are really pure!!!!!!!!!!!
I purple you
I was watching so seriously to find any theory about MV, then.. I saw tom & jerry ( seokjin & jungkook) 😅
DAVID : there will be beheading... real trend these days..
ME: 👀
DAVID: From the kings
ME: oh.
Thanks as always David, that head banging moves stuck on me too..
Love to see you excited on your country beauty
You missed Jungkook and Jin, the 2 guys that was fighting
David, i’m really curious about something. people said in korea you couldn’t be a king if you had a scar. so, for yoongi to be the king with scar on his face, it shows how powerful he is. is that true?
Yoongi sad it in behind the scenes that he just wnated it himself 🤣🤣
Yes! I have been waiting for your reaction. Thank you so much for filling us in on the nuances we might not understand.
This is the best reaction so far...I can feel how proud you are. ..
