Jimmys playing and the layers of guitars he used are genius and to think Jimmy produced, recorded and mixed this entire album in 19 days!
Tea For One.......I've only ever seen one reaction to that song and it's brilliant
Always loved the haunting intro & outro to this song. In between it just gallops along. A Zeppelin classic.
One of Zeppelin’s best songs, for another one, check out Nobody’s Fault but Mine from the same album.
Absolutely.... and be ready to compare/contrast Zeppelin's "Nobody's Fault But Mine" from the "Presence" LP with the later Plant/Page version.... ua-cam.com/video/Ki9qjHbTrrs/v-deo.html
Yes...great choice!
No No No No Nooooo body's fault 😎
I totally agree with you that this song is one of the best song of Zep, and I think it is the best one later the 5th album. From Japan✌️
The only less than stellar song on that album, is NONE!
The song is relentless.
One of their best and least known. Masterful performance by all of them, proving they are one of the greatest bands of all time. Few can come close to this level.
Least known? Only to casual Zeppelin fans. Any true Zeppelin fan will have this in the Top Ten.
Check out the live version from Knebworth 1979. Bonham is Awesome
I know some people say Zeppelin wasn’t good on this night. But that is an Epic performance. Bonzo is ridiculous 🥁
@@yenlard6683 I believe your thinking of a different time they were at Knebworth for just a few songs and the sound stage was not that great.....This definitely does not apply to Led Zeppelin in concert 1979 split over two weekends. I was there for the 1st of the two, and they did 4 hours on stage ! Incredible ! - This track is available on dvd live Knebworth '79. It is stunning !
yes!!
@@yenlard6683 In this concert, after two years without playing together cause Robert,s young son died, Robert looks sad, Jimmy was in trouble whit the heroine, Bonzo with the alcohol, but their interpretations are amazing, absolutions amazing. Bonzo die the following year.
What a song. What a band...and what a drummer! If you haven't yet, you will love "In My Time Of Dying", "Nobody's Fault But Mine" and "When The Levee Breaks".
Great song by the ROCK GODS!!!!🔥🔥And that drumming RIP John Bonham. Never will anything like this come along. MASTER CLASS
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
I bought this Album when it first came out in 76. I was 15 years old, and highly addicted to Zeppelin since 71 when I was 10. I had older cousins who jammed this band along with Hendrix,Joplin and Floyd. I'm going on 63 next month. So this has been a long Zeppelin journey. I know many others have been on this Zeppelin life tour. 😎✌🏽🤟🏽
Reminds me of my Senior year at high school when I worked as substitute custodian for the high school. I would set up a record player in a locked room, run the cord to the speaker in the hallway and have this album playing as I cleaned my section of the school. Awesome.
Daniel, recently I have been working with another angel to suggest to reactors to always have a link to the original video and also have a link to the official YT channel for the artist. The best way to support the artist, is to verbally encourage your viewers to subscribe to the artist's YT channel along with yours. After all, without the artists, we would not have anything to react to. Of course we concentrate on reactions to Angelina since she is one of the most undervalued artists on UA-cam.
My favorite zep song. Thanks for the reaction.
It's exciting watching a youngin'' listen to a Led Zeppelin song for the first time (this song in particular, I know you've listened to others) This is probably one of my favorites by them, but then it's not easy to choose one favorite song by them...too many to choose from. By the way, the hair cut looks good kiddo 👍
Listen to this again in 40 years time and you'll STILL be dazzled! EPIC was a well-chosen description!
Definitely my favorite zeppelin song!!
I love this album 🤩. . Listen to Tea for one.
I second that, definitely one of my many favorites
For your life
@@mansteinman Another great song
Night Flight from Physical Graffiti is another mostly undiscovered Classic by Zep. Really some interesting stuff in it.
I adore Achilles Last Stand. The drums just DRIVE it - perfection.
Love the Led Zep songs that have that clear Plant voice! Like Jon Anderson, his voice makes the band unique.
We listened to this song as a team on the way to baseball games. Our manager said, if this doesn't get you up, you are already dead!
You can't help but notice John Bonham. He's a beast on those drums. BTW....love the hair
Isn’t this song so original?! What a riff!! Cool bro, thx for rockin us out to greatness!!!
Definitely my personal favorite led zep song, thanks for checking it out! Imo you should listen to the live version at Knebworth 1979
The one and only Led Zeppelin. My GOATS! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video. This is definitely one of their greatest songs.
I'm here for the drum fill at 7:17 and all of the flourishes like it. You don't have to be told what band is playing to know that's John Bonham. So distinctive.
My favorite Zeppelin song....👍
Check out the studio version of *In My Time Of Dying* by Led Zeppelin.
Also, please react to *Jeff Buckley - BBC Late Show.*
Jimmy Page was a great producer, maybe even more than he was a guitar player. His mixes and layering of tracks is legendary.
Bonzo is just a beast on this.
Great reaction Tocayo.
✌️😎
I loved this song while running, perfect pace maker
Jimmy Page at the time owned horses. And he would go to horse races. So he wanted to replicate the thunderous sounds of galloping horses.
What?? Jimmy never owned horses lol. You’ve got your history wrong.
@@OutOnTheTiles Yes he did. It was a tax write off. All the rock stars were doing odd things. He also owned an occult fantasy bookstore. It's also why they left England to record Presence. It's also why The Rolling Stones moved to France to record Exile On Main Street. They were tax exiles.
It's also why at one time Jimmy's political affiliation was Tory. I don't know if that's still true today though.
Hey Daniel ! Getting the Led Out !!
It's tracks like this that make led zeppelin not just a good band but an amazing epic band
One of the best songs ever written. It's unreal musicianship.. Great upload
I always wanted to see a movie with this as background music for a wild high speed boat chase.
I stood up and cheered when I heard the Immigrant Song in Thor Ragnarok!
was bonzo actually getting better towards the end? usually you see allot of people peak in their early twenties but man bonzo was still pushing the limit right up until the end and its a damn shame we didnt see what he could have done if he had lived
I think they all were at this point.
One of their best tracks EVER!
hands down, my favorite Zep song.
Best song by Zep , thanks to the drumming and guitarwork🙂
Loved it!!!! Thank you
So I went up into an Alien spaceship and all I got was a haircut 👽
Zeppelin played a six night stand at the LA Forum in ‘77. The third night of this run was a special night. Look up 6-23-77 LA Forum Zeppelin live on a search and you’ll find it. Achilles Last Stand from this night is truly incredible. Bonham’s drumming in that version will have you out of breath, even though you haven’t moved one bit. He was/is the best rock drummer of ever.
For some reason, I perceive this song as an "instrumental," in spite of there being a non-trivial amount of lyrical content. It's a great song.
Great stuff... Robert Plant was in a wheelchair during the recording because of a car accident he was in.
Robert Plant was in a wheelchair during the recording of this album.
The live version of this from Knebworth 1979 is amazing!
For Your Life next!
My favourite Zeppelin song. Peace.
Bonham knows what he is doing on drums. Phil Collins said John had the 'feel' very few could find.
Zep and plant especially loved thelord of the rings books, theres several references in their music. Ramble on is basically the hobbits journey
Thank you!! Presence is my favorite Zep album and this is their best song. So much good sounds.
THE DRUMS OH GAWD THE DRUMS
The Drumming and the Bass play is AMAZING! This track is so " Bouncy"!
The haircut caught my eye first thing...looks good
Trampled Underfoot, both studio and live at Earl's Court, 1975.
The band was going through difficult times then. Thus the album and especially this song are very important to Jimmy Page, who has often referred to them as a mind over matter - kind of achievement, describing exhausting mixing and last minute's recording sessions. Page asked The Rolling Stones for bit of extra time to finish off the guitar parts, as they had booked the studio after Zeppelin.
It sounds like Heart was inspired by this. It's like Baracuda. Those drums by John Bonham are fast and furious! Jimmy's guitar work! Only a rock legend!!! Then you got the bass working in with it! Robert's vocals are frosting on the cake! Zeppelin are the GOATS!! Great reaction Daniel! Hair's nice too !😊🎸🎶🎧
Either Ann or Nancy has told the story of the time they were on the same bill as Nazareth, and Manny Charlton suddenly burst in and accused them of stealing the riff from This Flight Tonight for Barracuda. After he ranted on for a while, either Ann or Nancy finally interrupted him and said, "Manny, we didn't steal your riff for Barracuda. We stole from Achilles' Last Stand". That shut him up.
@@russallert Thanks!
Led Zeppelin didn't tour with a second guitarist during their 1977 North America tour. Actually, I don't think they ever toured with a second rhythm guitarist, only Jimmy Page on lead.
I thought some songs suffered BIG TIME especially during some of my favorite guitar sections that just weren't played.
However, this song, "Achilles Last Stand" was definitely the "standout" of their entire set at Madison Square Garden in June of 1977.
I was in attendance, I think, the 2nd night of their 6 night, sold out appearances in New York City.
The 4 of them were powerful, majestic, mind blowing, human Gods on stage. Simply unforgettable.
But yet, another touring band completely "blew them out of the water", 21 nights later.
South Phillys Spectrum, Pink Floyd during their, "In the Flesh" tour, promoting the "Animals" album.
What I judge and compare ALL concerts too. None have matched it that I've attended.
"Epic"? Well, if you're going to name a song "Achilles' last stand" it had damned well better be epic, and Zep never disappointed.
this song shows how bonham was a master drummer
Yeah dude, you have to checkout Nobody;s Fault But Mine from this Album!
This song live blows your mind! Check it out.
Fantastic 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
I'd like to take this opportunity to, once again, remind you to, at some point, dive into the Canadian band Max Webster. This Zep tune lives in the same neighborhood as many things they did. When I hear this song, I'm somewhat reminded of "The Party" by Max Webster.
Wow and I thought I was the great defender of Canadian music on theses sites......you dug deep on this one..good old Max Webster.....Good job !
I think you are ready to Graduate to Jazz Fusion... Try "Sea of Tranquility" by Bill Cobham. Total-Eclipse Album. Billy is a Drummer that has been on many albums and has over 10 great ones of his own. The man is one of the best Drummers you will ever hear. He was born with Sticks in his hands, and plays several songs with 4-sticks. The song requested is about the Location on the Moon... The Sea of Tranquility.
this is Page's best solo
Great album! It also has Nobody's fault but mine, For your life and Tea for One, needless to say this album Presence rocks
Lookin good!
Super epic. Great reaction. Is that a Robert Crumb shirt?
In the Iliad (by Homer) the Greeks were on their exhibition for 10 years away from home. Many of the key protagonists were homesick, wanting to see their lands, their family again.
Great choice. Pretty proggy for them. Some many things to hear on this one track. A showcase for each talent in the band. (I too finally got a haircut. Man, do I feel better now.) Cheers Daniel!
Black Dog and Rock and Roll (album versions). Go for it if you haven't already
A total gallop for sure. John bonham kicks arse. This is a great song to play while on the treadmill lol!
This entire album is John Bonham’s masterpiece.
Epic jam!
If you want to hear more Tolkien themed lyrics check out " Ramble on "
You got a haircut. Now I recognize you :-D Led Zeppelin was great
same reaction i had 30 yrs ago
It is surprising how much younger you look simply because of a hair cut. Pretty clean shaven as well, I would bet. You really take a chance with Zepplin, given their track record with blocks. If you had to choose however, this is a great song to pick. Definitely on my top ten for a career. ENJOY .
John Bonham kicks ass on this song thunderous, fast, drums doesn't get any better
Listen to the live version of this song from the Knebworth Concert 1978..A masterpiece!
great vid
You have to do "Dread Zeppelin" Heartbreaker Hotel sometime. Page and Plant loved these guys. Zeppelin + Fat Elvis in a Reggae style.
Dread Zeppelin is too bizarre to NOT like... LOL... SMH... A "must hear to believe" for any fan of Led Zeppelin, Elvis, or Bob Marley . . .
Hi, not sure what you have or haven't heard by Led Zeppelin. You mentioned Bonham's drumming - so I was wondering have you yet heard - "In My Time Of Dying" ? - I just hope your headphones can handle it and don't explode ! [ you think I jest young Sir ? - On the contrary - you have been warned ! Lol ]
Thrre are so many dubs in this song. 6 guitar dubs and 3 (i think) vocal dubs. Bass and drum tracks are single.
I dont know which I like more....your reaction, or your new haircut 🤔
Bands you need to check out plus some songs by those band...Devo "Whip It" and "Peek-a-boo" Garbage "Only Happy When it Rains" and "Stupid Girl" just for starters and the entire Weird Al Yankovic catalog...Just because he is weird and make fun of all the pop songs of the day and the past. "Eat It", "Fat", "Beverly Hillbillies", "Tacky" I could go on
Most of Zeppelin's songs sound masterfully produced and polished in a rough way, if that makes any sense, but Achilles Last Stand seems like a long jam session to me - and there's nothing wrong with that. It's still Zeppelin but a bit different for them. A great long song is better than a great short song. The longer the better - and that's definitely what she said.
DO Joe Satriani 'surfing with the alien'............BLOW your FUCKIN MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do "in the light"
Bonzo's finest hour...
Zeppelin remasters aren't different from the original recordings only difference is jimmy page just remixed them to sound better!
I told you that you should react to CSN&Y " Almost Cut My Hair" now it's too late 🙄 LoL We Are Legion ✌️♥️
Lol ... great song btw
"I will now proceed to entangle the entire area"
Presence .. the keyboardless album
This is not a song. It's a boarding ticket on a locomotive to hell.
Single kick drum.
Haircut makes you look younger
I know I know I’m a nit picker, Achilles is a warrior not a god. Made invulnerable by his Mom dipping him in the river Styx, holding him by his heel, making his heel vulnerable. Sorry back to the music.
sorry nit picker, Achilles was a demigod, he was the son of Zeus and a mortal woman, and NOT invulnerable because his heel was the only part of his body that was not submerged and that weak spot was his fate. Anyway, back to the music.
how could that epic studio version been performed live....easy they are Led Zep....check it out
