So to summarize: a 20x more expensive rack built by professionals is better than DIY... Shocker!
Don't get me wrong, if you can afford it, of course you should go pro. But to compare the two is like comparing a Prius to a Tesla S; they're not in the same league.

200$ you can build a 9 tall 41qt melamine rack fully enclosed and ready to go if you decide to spend 1200$ on a freedom breeder rack, i feel sorry for you.

almost 4 years later i post a comment. There is one big problem with this video. today a rack like that is worth ATLEAST 1100$. A DIY rack like the one you had is about 250$ ask yourself if spending 900$ more is worth it and if it is for you then go for it. myself i built 2 racks 500$ total holding around 20 snakes perfectly comfortbale and healthy and pleasing to look at. ALL preference

Okay, but can we talk about the price difference? There weren't enough cons to the diy rack to make me feel like I absolutely need to drop 2-3k on a FB rack.

"High end" fuck dude we don't all have money for high end. You guys are really condescending. I know you said you were trying not to slam the diy stuff but that's exactly what you did the whole video.

Just if somebody sees it in the future the tape they used was wrong they should've used aluminum tape to take the heat and the table they showed is not melamine it's a cheap plastic wrapped MDF

I use inside outside carpet in my aquariums. My collection just hit a point that I am concentrating on building my own rack system so I'm not too concerned about the staining of the steralite containers. So I'm more focused about heating with flex watt. I've heard numerous people say to heat the back of the snake rack by winding the flex watt down so you only need to use one thermostat. Any insight on that? belly heat is great but even in glass with side and top heat I have great digestion from my snakes.

WTF sure i want to spend $1000+ per rack. i will take my DIY all day. Use a little brains and you can have a great rack. Funny that tape that they are knocking is used everywhere. Got to you local hardware store and check it out. Can use it with ppl but it "might" harm your animals. Your animals might die tomorrow as well. Feel bad that this was just an ad. Showed a rack to a carpenter and he asked how many of the parts were made of gold. Most of the things in the pet industry are this way. i feel really bad that ppl believe this. I have used the plastic tubs that he is knocking. i have buy 25+ for much less that the cost of the beautiful tubs. then the low cost one break you throw them out. It is that hard.

My only problem with buying snake racks is that it takes 19 months for you to get it

oWD3 Agreed. FB way over priced IMO. For smaller breeders and home enthusiasts, DIY is the way to go when you need money for animals, bedding, rodents and electricity bills.

I did the same rack and it works perfect instead of using tape to keep the heat tape down but what I did is that I used i these metal plates license plates got them from the flea market for about a dollar each to put the tape on and no Oder I've had it for about 7 years never burned or harmed my pythons and geckos!

Sterlite tubs can easily be replaced. They're cheap. If they hold order replace it. And what do u clean with?

Don't need heat tape many breeders just use ambient heating. Been doing so successfully for years. 84 degrees is recommended.

How much is the freedom breeder

  • @billchadwell2319
    @billchadwell2319 4 роки тому

Buy freedom breeder or ars tubs and then build your rack yourself. The tubs are a good value but the rack is hugely expensive. Even if I had the money I couldn't convince myself to buy one when I could build one myself for a couple hundred bucks. The diy featured looks intentionally sub par. You can replicate the high end featers of a freedom breeder or ars rack fairly easily.

What if you use the same rack just alter the heating element and add a daisy chain which someone else has done on a diy video AND just pay a lil extra and buy those tubs lol and voila lol

I think they are simply saying that if you're ready to step up from DIY to professional (ie: value your time), the quality of the product is worth it. I do a lot of woodworking and sure you can cut a sheet of plywood with a $400 Bosch saw from Home Depot, and I have. However, when you want to do quality production work, you shell out the $$$ for a "high-end" saw. The difference between the Bosch and my SawStop cabinet saw is tremendous. DIY will get you going but if you want to do it as a profession, you need professional tools.

Good job bragging about your fuckin million dollar rack. I would never plan on using the DIY setup any longer than needed to begin with.
