Im glad i found dis video. Most people do acrylic for very simple stuffs as if its a kids toy which also makes people assume acrylic can only be use in a very limited ways. And here you made figurative painting with dat much depth using acrylics. Bravo!

I couldn't thank enough both the artist Mr. Barry McCann and Graeme Stevenson for this great gift given to us. Greetings from Saudi Arabia. Elham
Thank you Regina, hopefully we will be able to get to Saudi Arabia one day and film the series there. Its about sharing the information to the world, Graeme
I am pleased you enjoyed the video Regina as it was fun and a real challenge to try and show each step in my painting process and lovely to hear that it resonates with others. Barry
Best acrylic painting video I've seen. Great narration. Great everything. Calming. Pleasing to listen to. Inspires a bit of hope in the world. Awesome audio mixing. I could go on forever. Thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed the show. WE will have a new one for you every week for you and our fans, Please if you get the chance it would be great if you told more folks about us. We have worked tirelessly for many years to bring you these Artists, thanks again
Fantastic lesson. I have been painting with acrylics for years and learned more in this video then in all those years combined. Thank you, Barry for a remarkable and informative lesson.
Both Barry and Lucy are amazing artists and generous with their knowledge and talents. Barry's work is always stunning. One of Barry's previous CIYL appearances was the catalyst for me to pick up my paints again after many years. For that, I will always be grateful.
wow!!! technical and painterly with great attention to color and value, and incredible ability to interpret the figure and his ideas into a lyrical painting...I'm so impressed by this artist
This is not just a "how to paint an Angel" video. My aim was to show my process from an" idea" all the way through to a "finished piece" using acrylic paints as a substitute for oil paints and my method can be applied to any subject matter. I may have included a few hints and tips in this video!!

A splendid production, both by Graeme and Barry.. The background score is so apropos, captures the intensity of the painting process perfectly! If there was a tutorial on how to make an instructional video, this should be it. Looking forward to more in the future.
Graeme, it was lovely meeting you at PACE19 in San Francisco. So glad I found this episode! I learned so much and it encouraged me to give another go with my acrylics. Barry was generous with his video and it was lovely to watch him work and see his sweet wife at the end. So grateful you have the opportunity to meet all these wonderful artists!
Hi Laura, I keep up generally but missed this message. Great to hear from. Things have changed a lot since last we saw each other. Hope you are well, Graeme
Barry is one of my favorite painters. It was a treat to see him again and watch another one of his fascinating demonstrations. It was also great that Lucy made an appearance. They are an inspiring couple in many ways. Thank you as well Graeme! Without you and your channel, many of us would not have an opportunity to see and learn from these wonderful artists.
Thank you Fred, we have worked very hard over the last 8 years travelling the world to bring all of this together. Your heart felt words are greatly appreciated. They are a wonderful couple and also a great inspiration for me as well, Thanks Fred, Graeme

So great to see Barry and Lucy again!!! This painting and all the information just took my breath away, wow, Barry you just keep getting better and better. Now if we could just get Lucy to do a follow up on what she is working on these days. For now I’ll bet the video set is pure gold for all who purchase it. Take care!! Well done Graeme and your team.
Thank you Essie. Barry said he is going to do one of Lucy next, he has done an amazing job and i am trying to get other Artists to produce more of their own shows as well. He is a well of amazing information and his show is just outstanding, Thanks again, Graeme
*BEST EPISODE EVER* I am having trouble searching for the words to describe why this is the *GreatestEpisode* that Colour in Your Life has aired! Amazing Talent with such incredible attention to detail. How He explained every step of the creative process beginning with idea to finished piece was so very appreciated. I enjoyed learning the properties and benefits of each choice of materials used and the proactive solutions shared for the challenges acrylic mediums present. I am so impressed with this Artist, and very thankful to CIYL for showcasing a wonderfully talented artist and instructor!!!
Yes when I saw what Barry had put together I was amazed. He really is an amazing man and so is his wife. I think the difference with what we do is that we only ever have one day to put our shows together to be able to make what we do work with out it costing us a fortune, we simply have to capture everything in the one day that we are there. We could produce shows like this but we would have to be there for at least a week and after 8 years of subsidising Colour in your Life with my own money we just can't afford it. We get almost zero support from any manufactures or governments and up to date there has been over 2 million dollars spent to get this to where it is now. I have not made a dime in 8 years. Luckily i have had a successful career to balance much of this out. I have asked Barry to do more and the next one will be with his darling wife Lucy. thanks heaps for your comments, we do our best to expose people. As far as I know my team and I are the only people doing this around the world, i think the only ones that are crazy enough, all the best, Graeme
Thank you so much for your positive and supportive comments. It is a pleasure to share something that is dear to my heart and love it even more so when it is appreciated...thank you Art Lover.
Is it wrong or unethical to use a projector as a faster process to get the outline before painting on it, instead of doing it the way he did in the video??
Truly an inspiration, to see the artist and the model enjoying the process of creating something from just an idea was really so enjoyable to watch and to have barry's wife be a part of it helped to show that it was all part of a group effort in creating a real masterpiece. Thank you so much for all your effort and talent both graeme and barry in creating this inspiring production.

I agree with everyone here, u r an incredible artist. I love ur style of painting. Its obvious even in the finished work just how much drawing is a part of ur process. From composition to draftsman & execution, ur pieces r created with exceptional expertise in every step. I am always excited to see an artist proving the merits of acrylic paint. In my opinion the early masters would have certainly taken this medium to beautiful & experimental heights just as they did oils.....just as they embraced new opportunities such as paint in a tube or the camera obscura. Why would they not utilize the quick drying, versatile, & strength of acrylic paint? Turner could have enjoyed spitting on his acrylic sea scapes & Rembrandt could have sliced through the dark with titanium white minus the lead poisoning. Lol Thank u for being so generous with ur knowledge & experience. Wishing u & urs the best. An extra thank u to Graeme....Safe travels!

This painting is really stunning! Love your style!!!! May i ASK you? In a another video of Color in your live you where showing a different brand of acrylic paint with a lot of explaining, about that brand do you use both brands or now only schminke?
I now only use the Schmincke paints and mediums. I changed for several reasons but the main reasons are they are thicker and easier to teach with. I have found that students tend to take off more paint than they put on with the Interactive and the shift in value from wet paint to dry is very minimal with the Schmincke paints.
I do not use oils any longer due to the long lead up time for competition and commission deadlines...the drying time is frustratingly long. I am also concerned with health issues associated with oil paints and their mediums when using them indoors.
@@mccannfineart so what about H2Oils like Talens Cobra ? Can it be the best of both worlds or are there some problems too ? I don't like common oils too, but have problem with drying speed (I'm suprised about amout of retarder you used in video - usually it should be only several percents, is Schmicke retarder special that can be used 1:2 ?) and "plastic" feel of acrylics too ..
@@bh69videa I have not really used the water soluble oil paints. Yes, the Schmincke Super Retarder can be mixed in the 2:1 ratio. This is a maximum ratio and by the time I add the extra colours to my mixing white I have changed this ratio to be larger.
Where did you learn about the armature of the rectangle. I also want to thank you for your reply some time ago about the golden mean. That had me do a search and learn so much more. :)
I remember seeing the Armature being used by an artist in New Zealand many years ago now. He had triangles drawn all over his canvas and had just started his drawing. It was a work in progress and he was not available to talk to and ask him why so this made me research the rules of composition and this lead to the the discovery of the Armature. There is now heaps of info out there on it.
Thank you for introducing me to a new way of using acrylic. Do you use the acrylic medium as well as the retarder with your paint? I am having a difficult time gettin the medium and retarder in the US. Do you know how I can get it?
I do use acrylic medium as a way to thin down my paint but this is done rarely as I like my paintings to look thick and oil like. Golden or Matisse have similar products to the Schmincke range and I believe the Golden range is readily available in the US.
My skin colour mixes vary with each painting due to the person I am painting or the light effect I wish to capture but I still only ever use the same nine colours plus white. I usually have a patch of orange and then two patches of purple (one cool and one warm) and mix between these to achieve a skin tone.
Im glad i found dis video. Most people do acrylic for very simple stuffs as if its a kids toy which also makes people assume acrylic can only be use in a very limited ways. And here you made figurative painting with dat much depth using acrylics. Bravo!

Th@@mccannfineartnk you. I have seen videos by an artist/teacher. I am impressed with his teachings.
Golden or Matisse have similar products to the Schmincke range and I believe the Golden range is readily available in the US.
super epic painting. What color mixes did you use for the skin pigment?
My skin colour mixes vary with each painting due to the person I am painting or the light effect I wish to capture but I still only ever use the same nine colours plus white. I usually have a patch of orange and then two patches of purple (one cool and one warm) and mix between these to achieve a skin tone.
