My dad recently got this phone. What I've noticed so far: screen looks nice but you can see individual pixels if the device is doing anything in the background, it becomes very very sluggish, but it fairly snappy once background tasks have finished he plays a game called "word crossy" which worked on his old phone, which only had 1gb ram, MKT6737, etc, pretty bad phone in general but it ran the game, however on this redmi 9a, it works for about 30 seconds then the RAM will run out, the game will start freezing and eventually crash, and the entire phone is unusable. I am unsure why this happens as his old phone only had 1gb ram and had no trouble running the game. However other similar games work just fine, it's only word crossy that is having issues. Also the speakers are VERY quiet, especially in phone calls. With speaker phone turned on, and volume set to the max, it is still very quiet... it is just barely audible with the earpiece speaker set to max... this is not ideal at all, i've had much worse phone be much louder and clearer. WiFi also has very poor signal. Where my Xperia XZ2 has almost full signal, the redmi has 1 bar and keeps disconnecting... not a massive deal but every other device has no issue in that room (other than amazon alexa which is a garbage device in general anyway) Else it seems pretty decent however, we'll see how it holds up in actual usage. The only real problems for him is the game not running properly and the very quiet speakers.

Alex, Great Review, Thanks! BTW, do you know if this phone supports VoLTE and Wifi calling? Both AT&T and T-Mobile announced they will soon retire the 2G network to reuse that spectrum and phones without VoLTE will not work anymore.
VoLTE is voice over LTE (4G) even if they discard 2G (like Three a UK network) you should still be able to use 3G and 4G. My network stopped the 2G years ago and I can still use a basic 3G or 4G phone without problem even without the voLTE option.
I've had this phone since August. And I hate it. Overtime it's just gotten worse. The onboard space is small. I added an external SD card. However, I cannot access it without a laptop. That makes no sense to me. My phone freezes often. When I type a message on WhatsApp - it freezes. Then I have to restart it. I cannot wait to get rid of it and buy a Huawei again.
Heyo, Redmi 9A owner here. Just a question, regarding expanding memory. According to all online sources, both official from Xiaomi and non-official, the expandable memory for the 9A caps off at 512GB. Well, I ordered a 512GB card online and they send me a 1TB card by accident. I was initially hesitant to install it in my phone, but when I did I was shocked to discover that my storage read the full 1.11TB. And now my hesitation has turned into anxiety, 'cause I'm scared that exceeding 50% of my new capacity would grenade the processor. So, to anyone who knows better or have done this before, is it safe for me to fill in the empty space in my 9A terabyte card? Or should I replace it for an actual 512GB? Because I've seen older devices (not phones, but iPods from 2007) take 2TB and work fine. So I feel like I could get away with it, but I wanna be sure.
Today is 2022 19 September. I was buy Redmi 9A in 2021 12 July. When i was buy my first phone, i was so happy. In first 1-2 months everything was work fantastic. But after 3 months my phone was start freezing in small games. Example: Brawl Stars and stumble guys. I seed: Its not problem, every phones sometimes is freezing. Freezing- Bugging in games and not only. And for today i cant play games on this phone. I was don't drop it and i care it so much. I think problem is bad proccesor and storage. Better is buy Poco or other Redmi, but not Remdi 9A. Don't buy it and spend money in water!
The problem with USB-C for them is that they need to pay a cut to the designer to get the permission to use it. That’s why they cheap out on it at these price tags. It’s not worth it to make a such a cheap phone and still pay others a cut for a port
@@RedskullPro love your channel and I love my Mi Max 3 and Redmi note 9 Pro I got . This one 9A is having MIUI 12 before a lot of better phones .. funny to know!
My brother had this phone for 2 years. Sadly it got slow over time. It could barely open apps quickly like it was before. For that price he should've bought an old flagship. I still think the 9A isn't worth the price. It's good that Xiaomi already ditched the "a" series phones. There are more competitive ultra budget smartphones out there.
Hi there, thinking of buying that for my grandma to have video calls over messenger as i live in another country and i want to see her more often. do you think it will be good enough the quality of the image for her and me to see each other pretty clear? if not can you suggest any of the budget phones you have tried previously...the only perpose of the phone is to use it for video calls.thanks!

Hi. Nice video , thanks for sharing . I am not a big fan of smartphones , but if you can't beat them ... join them. I now have a galaxy s4 .. yeah. Well it's starting to get really tired. Want to buy this one. I use the phone for text messages , calls and facebook. Well my son occasionally watches videos on youtube, but not for too long. Maybe a couple of hours a week. Does it worth the upgrade? Thank you. Keep it up!
I feel that aside from the larger screen and the much better battery life this won't be that much of an upgrade from your current phone. I guess it depends if those two things are important for you
@@RedskullPro Yes, it would be important, because the s4's battery drains after using facebook for 1.5 hours , or in 3-4 hours on idle, even if the data usage is turned off and i don't even touch the phone. Thank you.
And i forgot to mention that the sim card/sd card reader or slot or what ever ..module is faulty. Every now and then it says the sim card was extracted and restart , than the sd card keeps unmounting then remounting , and it does this for a couple of minutes, about 30 40 times. So yes, the main reason whould be the 5k battery , but a larger screen is a plus.
The phone looks good but i think that the OPPO A5 2020 would be better because it costs 100 pounds in the UK and it has 64gb and 3gb ram (you could also but it with 4gb ram).

@@anursetiawan true but if u got a redmi 9 (redmi 9 prime in india) it would have been way better idk where u live tho so idk properly suggestions even the redmi 9c is good this phone ia also great but 2gb ram is too less
For 90€ it is amazing.
Alex, Great Review, Thanks! BTW, do you know if this phone supports VoLTE and Wifi calling? Both AT&T and T-Mobile announced they will soon retire the 2G network to reuse that spectrum and phones without VoLTE will not work anymore.
Hey, I just checked under wifi settings, sim cards and networks and there is no setting for VoLTE or Wifi calling
VoLTE is voice over LTE (4G) even if they discard 2G (like Three a UK network) you should still be able to use 3G and 4G. My network stopped the 2G years ago and I can still use a basic 3G or 4G phone without problem even without the voLTE option.
@@RedskullPro bro this phone support volte wifi calling please check again
I've had this phone since August. And I hate it. Overtime it's just gotten worse. The onboard space is small. I added an external SD card. However, I cannot access it without a laptop. That makes no sense to me. My phone freezes often. When I type a message on WhatsApp - it freezes. Then I have to restart it. I cannot wait to get rid of it and buy a Huawei again.
Informative review, nicely done and to the point. Thank you.

So I feel like I could get away with it, but I wanna be sure.
what does the sd card have to do with the processor lmao
This smartphone is budget worthy.
I have the Same Phone and it was only 99€ And it ist totally Worth it
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience with everyone!
If you do a factory reset on the phone it will feel like new for a while
The problem with USB-C for them is that they need to pay a cut to the designer to get the permission to use it. That’s why they cheap out on it at these price tags. It’s not worth it to make a such a cheap phone and still pay others a cut for a port
Yes I'm so happy just ordered it now
It's my third Xiaomi phone I bought, this 9a is a real budget phone, the note 9 or 9 Pro are a bit more expensive but way better!
You are right, this is the true definition of a budget phone! Thanks for checking out the video!
That's my current phone. Honestly this phone is slow with wifi but good with gaming
Is redmi 9a is better for daily usage..Is this is better for buying and worth for money..
if you don't have any crazy expectations it's a phone that offers amazing value
Hi there, thinking of buying that for my grandma to have video calls over messenger as i live in another country and i want to see her more often. do you think it will be good enough the quality of the image for her and me to see each other pretty clear? if not can you suggest any of the budget phones you have tried previously...the only perpose of the phone is to use it for video calls.thanks!
For video calls this will do great. My grandma uses the older Redmi 7a for the exact same thing

I would get the 9A
So yes, the main reason whould be the 5k battery , but a larger screen is a plus.
great video bro!!
Hey man, thanks for stopping by!
The phone looks good but i think that the OPPO A5 2020 would be better because it costs 100 pounds in the UK and it has 64gb and 3gb ram (you could also but it with 4gb ram).
What the heck are you saying.
# *Pugb, COD, PES 2021 plays smoothly*
# *USB is better than TYPE C cable*
# *face unlock works perfectly, even with nose mask on*
# *I've bought this phone from first week of release and I've never experienced any lag or slowness*
Only issue I have with it is the camera. I have to use oppo for my video recording even though the camera is 8mp it's still better than redmi 9A's 13MP
You're making review of a phone you haven't used properly yourself.
No, no and no

Great Review, Thanks.
Is this phone good for lots of mobile apps and fast internet???pleass recommend me a good but affordable phone.
Does the phone support 4g?
And will it handle basic games?
Yes
I think it is pretty worthy in the budget range because it does have reliable features like a new mediatek processor and a massive battery.
For non-power users is will be great, big screen, massive battery, can't go wrong for the price
Good review brother
A bit disappointed you didn't show the front camera :(
that is not slow at all i mean compared to the iphone it is but for that cheap price its pretty fast bc i bought like a 300 dollar phone and it was definetly slower
Sir I'm really hoping to get my first Xiaomi decive not a flagship but now I'm stoked in making decision but I have to device in my mind now which I can afford, the Xiaomi Redmi 8 and Redmi 9, I'm asking because of it processor Snapdragon and Mediatek. So I need your opinion. :)
I don't think you will go wrong with either. I personally like most newer mediatek processors
I'm playing call of duty on this phone fine and smooth.
Really? I guess it depends on your previous experience with other more powerful phones
yupp
UPDATE! The Redmi 9A is slower than usual
Haha, I’m sure it is
Hi Brother I am from India... Great review.... very informative
Hey man, thank you very much for watching!
At the first try i couldn't even write this comment with this thing and it also crashes by an UA-cam ad
Could this be a suitable 88y old grandma phone? Is the speaker "loud" enough? Is the ergonomic simple enough? My grandmother is coming from a flip phone so...
I think it would be okay for her...you may want to install a different launcher and see if you can lock it. My grandma is using some older android phone and she always managed to move/delete apps by mistake...so now I installed nova launcher and locked it
@@RedskullPro thank you very much!!!!
I just orderd this as my kids first phone, will he be able to play Pokémon go?
A bit laggy for that game but should be okay
I will buy memory card 64gb, does that make it better?
He have like 20 games on my phone, can this phone handle that if i buy memory card?
Tbh,It's not really good. I mean it worth the price tho but there is a lot of flaws as the time goes by..Like,you can't expect much from this phone l. My phone become lags and when you close the apps they will refresh which is I don't really like..And it's been around 1 year and half and my phone screen start to freeze and you can't even touch the up and down volume button. If you want to buy a new phone, hold on and find a better phone with a better price. Trust me you will regret a bit if you buy now.
This phone is perfect
realme c21 or this?
