DYSON LIGHTCYCLE LAMP, UNBOXING A $600 LAMP IS IT WORTH IT??

  • I just got this Dyson Lightcycle Lamp, it was a lot of fun to set up and believe it or not a lap can be FUN to use. It is the most versatile lamp I have seen with the options for focused or diffused light. The ability to program it with automated/motion setting and custom temperature/brightness. make this lamp way smarter than any other lamp I have ever owned. The price tag is hefty but it is a guaranteed conversation piece and it does it's job very well. This lamp isn't for everybody but if you do take the plunge you will be happy with the product if not the price tag.
    The actual price tag of the lamp is $599, sorry about the confusion as I misquoted $500.

    Since it costs $599, I would call it 600 dollar lamp, not a 500 dollar one.

      In the first part of the unboxing he says its a $500 lamp. maybe he got a discount.

    I use some dyson products, but I think James Dyson is at a point now where he is sitting back and seeing how he can build a ridiculous version of a standard household item/appliance and see how much he can get paid for it. This product is def targeted for hipsters.

      If you prefer a different price, the Atollo lamp, made in Italy, with a simple on/off switch, is $4,347.00 Or the small Atollo for $1,881.00 There are plenty of other Italian lamps that have been around for over 40 years available for over $1,000. Ptolomeo and anything by Flos, are also excellent Italian lamps, used in high-end decor. They’ve won many international design awards.

    I like the solarcycle morph lamp a touch better because it looks like the light element can rotate 180 degrees up. that would be helpful if you wanted light an area bouncing light off the ceiling or wall. Also like the solarcycle ambient position with the lighted tube stand.

    I bought the latest Dyson Solarcycle table lamp in 2019. And in 2020, the next generation Dyson Solarcycle Morph floor lamp. Both lamps are defective after 2 years. In my case I found out that only the power supply is defective. I have two neighbors who have the exact same problem with their Dyson lamps. The lamps switch themselves off again and again after 2 minutes! It is not possible to order a new power supply unit, we have been trying to order it from Dyson for over a year. It's been unavailable for over 1 year! You can't buy the power pack anywhere in Europe from England to Sweden to Spain! I just sent the power packs to Dyson for repairs, they wrote to me there: Our workshop informed us that we only received two power packs and not your entire Solarcycle table lamp. As part of the repair, we would like to exchange your table lamp for a new device, but for this it must be received in our workshop in advance.
    What use is a new lamp if the lamps have the same problem again in 2 years? What experiences have you had with your Dyson lamps?

      I guess you’re not familiar with what a high-end Italian lamp costs. A Taccio by Flos, to name one among hundreds of table lamps, is over £1,000 (about $1,220 U.S.) It has an on/off switch and none of the smart features that this Dyson has: proximity sensor; solar tracking technology; five different modes; random on/off feature; age-adjusted lighting, etc. Just a simple on/off switch for more than twice the price of the Dyson. There are too many examples to list.

    For $500 it should include RGB lights, twisting head, full functionality without the app and at least a 10-year warranty. I bet it costed less than $100 to manufacture.

      It will definitely perform well at all hours as it should for $500. It has an ambient setting, much like most cell phones that light up the screen based on how much dark/bright it is outside. The lamp will light up based on how dark the room is and avoid blinding you in the middle of the night with a solar flare type setting. Hope this helps

    I can imagine only how it fits on actual desk. Design? It is very poor designed, but it is smart so you don't need to be. As i can see the major problem with future smarts will be cooling, cause this one really looks ugly probably because of cooling part that can not be flexible....

    • @wonkyfishnut
      @wonkyfishnut 4 роки тому

      MrDzugoslav It is very overpriced but it can easily fit on a desk, it just need that little circle area at the base it’s tall so it won’t numb your head and it can extend like two or three feet so your arm probability won’t bump it unless it’s right over your head, and I love the design but it’s expensive as hell

    Snake light or gooseneck as someone else said is like 20 bucks. Hell you could go all out and buy a nice workshop light from Home Depot for 60 bucks and it’ll be infinitely better.
    This reminded me of their circular fans that cost hundreds. It’s completely dumb, even their vacuums are dumb now. 10 years ago sure, they innovated but now? Negative, far cheaper and more well rounded products on the market.

As for the Dyson fan being dumb, I could not disagree more with you. I have personally seen many children get their fingers practically sliced off by traditional fan blades, which is impossible to happen with a Dyson fan. I work in an emergency room, so I speak from experience, not mindless theorizing.
