  • The music of Baroque composers such as Lully, Purcell, Falconieri, Martín y Coll, Merula and Nebra served as the basis for courtly dance. Members of royalty liked to entertain themselves with the music and dance that populated the European courts of the 17th and 18th centuries. The two wives of the Spanish King Philip V achieved fame as accomplished dancers. This concert reconstructs the historical dances danced by these queens as conceived by choreographers such as Guillaume-Louis Pécour and Juan Antonio Jaque.
    Antonio Martín y Coll (c.1660-1734):
00:00 Pavana and Sesquiáltera (Flowers of music, 1707)
Choreography (pavane): Juan Antonio Jaque (XVIIth century)
    Tarquinio Merula (1595-1665):
    03:14 Ciaccona
Choreography (mariona): Domingo González (17th century)
    Andrea Falconieri (1585-1656):
06:17 Folías echa para mi Señora Doña Tarolilla de Carallenos
Choreography (folías): Juan Antonio Jaque (17th century)
    Henry Purcell (1659-1695):
10:04 The Virtuous Wife, incidental music from Act I
    Choreography (les contrefaiseurs): Guillaume-Louis Pécour
    André Cardinal Destouches:
12:38 Issé, heroic pastoral from Act III, Scene II
Choreography (sarabande à deux): Guillaume-Louis Pécour
    Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687):
14:49 Masquerade La mariée (Les noces de Village, LWV 19)
    Choreography (la mariée): Guillaume-Louis Pécour
    José de Nebra (1702-1768):
16:47 Fandango "Tempestad grande, amigo", from Vendado es amor, no es ciego
    Choreography (fandango): Diana Campóo
La Floreta (Diana Campóo and Jaime Puente, dance)
Delirivm Musica (Beatriz Amezúa, baroque violin and violin. Juan Portilla, flute. María Saturno, viola da gamba and vihuela. Jorge López-Escribano, harpsichord. Ramiro Morales, baroque guitar and archlute).
