- The music of Baroque composers such as Lully, Purcell, Falconieri, Martín y Coll, Merula and Nebra served as the basis for courtly dance. Members of royalty liked to entertain themselves with the music and dance that populated the European courts of the 17th and 18th centuries. The two wives of the Spanish King Philip V achieved fame as accomplished dancers. This concert reconstructs the historical dances danced by these queens as conceived by choreographers such as Guillaume-Louis Pécour and Juan Antonio Jaque.
Antonio Martín y Coll (c.1660-1734):
00:00 Pavana and Sesquiáltera (Flowers of music, 1707)
Choreography (pavane): Juan Antonio Jaque (XVIIth century)

03:14 Ciaccona
Choreography (mariona): Domingo González (17th century)
Andrea Falconieri (1585-1656):

Choreography (les contrefaiseurs): Guillaume-Louis Pécour
André Cardinal Destouches:
12:38 Issé, heroic pastoral from Act III, Scene II
