    Ma’am,
    After arranging the papers for the first side you decide to work on, scotch tape them in position so you can use them exactly as you arranged them on the opposite side. You just need to turn the taped-together papers upside down for the opposite side.
    If you did left and right, use the same idea to do the up and down sides. It will go much faster doing the work of arranging and positioning those papers only 2 times instead of 4 times.

      Great idea if you don't mind peeling the tape off for the next use!

    That would be awesome also as a FMQ ruler foot. . If it was thick enough! Also what if I cut a long strip of butcher wax paper. Folded it in half. . Keep doubling...then cut with template..then press it on and cut out!!. .be so very handy!

    Great ruler.
    I approach scalloped borders a little differently.
    I quilt my entire quilt first. I stabilize my borders with in the ditch quilting.
    I make my scallop templates out of freezer paper. I then line them up like you did. I iron them down. With the sewing machine I stay stitch and follow the line of the freezer paper. This way I get a perfect scallop and my quilt edge is stitched. I remove the freezer paper. Finish quilting the borders. Then I cut a quarter inch past the stay stitch line. And finish off with bias binding.
    *The only part I don't like is making bias binding. I can do it, I just don't like it
    But it's part of the process to get pretty scalloped borders. 😊

    • @kristamoser
      @kristamoser  13 годин тому

      I'm sorry Doreen! The manufacturer sets the price for these and that is based on how much they are to make.... It's a little more of an expensive process because of the grip being manufactured into the template rather than being an after market add on. You could probably replicate my idea with paper and get pretty close!

Is it because you're doing something directional/decorative, because you can make sure you tie off inside your line or neither of the above? Is there a reason you couldn't throw it on the frame, do edge to edge, and then take it off and cut out your drawn line through the quilting (if you bound it quickly, of course)? Thanks in advance!

      They just need to be about the same size as the ruler, or at least as wide as the hill/valley sides.

    Am i correct in saying that this is a wavy border?
    A scalloped border has sharp valleys.

      No, scalloped border is just a bucket term that means curved. There are subcategories for the different styles of scallops though.
