Been rocking ours since 2002, one speaker got a slight tear in it 4 years ago, a lil duct tape was fine. The other woofer went out a few days ago. $115 to replace, that's not bad at all. We play death metal, and use these a lot, and they have been worth so much more than we could ever imagine. Great speakers, still sound amazing, there's a women's rights protest using the working one right now in my town. Love it.
I find they sound best when they are turned up to about 60-65% on the speaker, just keep your mixer main at a lower level, gives you more headroom and more clarity!
@Jimmy Hill what would you buy out of the following for £200 second hand, a pair of Mackie thump srm 450 or a pair of Mackie thump 15” active ( one is faulty the other one works perfectly ) ? these would go in my large master bedroom.
These are heavy not light at all and take some volume ..I bought some mackie thumps and only kept a month and sent hem back as they red lighted so easy
Hi, I still have all five of my SRM450 v1. I only had to change one HF diaphragm. They still sound great, mine just need some painting. I never thought they would last this long. I wish I had bough carrying bags back then. Has anyone tried to paint their srm450's?
@@rdoss1 I painted my front black the rest is the original gray and I also use White Gator GPA-STRETCH-15-W Stretchy Speaker Cover for weddings. If you use covers you don't need to paint them

I was thinking of painting mine
Just bought some and was going to paint mine. I figured since I’m painting them who says they have to be black or gray? What’s a good color combo?
