- A year long look at planting tulips in the fall, protecting them from deer in the early spring, and then enjoying them as everything flowers together.

These beds of yours are incredible!!! Would love a larger image to see it. Very creative! You’ve inspired me to do some rock beds built in my slope
Beautiful. I can imagine the hard work as I only planted 200 tulips last year.
yeah me too and it's much harder if you have perennials between them
Thank you! I was wondering how your tulips were this year.
Thanks! It's been a cold spring here in the Great Lakes. That made for a very late tulip season. But the tulips figured it out and when the weather warmed up they were ready to put on a show. I love spring! Happy gardening :) 🌷 🌷 🌷 🌷 🌷 🌷 🌷
Rrrrrr😁😁😁😁😄😄😄
Hope you'll do another update for 2023!
Love it!!! So beautiful! I been waiting for this day :)
I really like the muscari in there, it really makes the flow between the phlox and the tulips. And your crocus experiment looks wonderful! All your work is amazing. I hope you make more videos!
Thanks! I just was re-watching your previous tulip video because it’s going to be time to dig mine up soon. Last fall was my first time planting tulips en masse and I was skeptical about all the work involved, but after a long winter and a dreary spring, it was so worth it and it makes me want to repeat it every year.
When we gonna se tulips update this year ? im excited to see it
Absolutely beautiful
Have you ever had a problem with Tulip Fire? I've read we shouldn't plant tulips in the same area for 7 years. But that's not easy to do for home gardens as we have limited space. Your flowers are beautiful!
I haven't seen that... yet... 😟 Honestly if I had a fungal disease it would be an opportunity to plant something else like daffodils. Thank you for the kind words :)
Fantastic video. I hoped you’d make a video this year, too! I believe you on the tulips dividing the next year and not putting on as good a show. May I ask a couple of questions? Your videos are immensely well-done, valuable, and approachable. Please keep them coming!
1. Wondering if you’d be willing to leave one bed alone next year (old tulips) as an experiment/educational video for newbie tulip lovers? (I’m doing that with a 3x4 plot, but as a non-UA-camr it won’t help anyone but me.)
2. Thanks for the creeping phlox recommendation. Do your bulb flowers just pop right through it where they overlap?
3. Zinnias on top of tulip beds - do you have to add extra water during the growing season? How does that affect your bulbs underneath? I recall zinnia roots are pretty shallow, so perhaps limited watering doesn’t get down to bulb level? I’d love to do something with my tulip beds after flowering but hesitate to keep them moist over the summer.
Please do a video of planting tulips this year 2022
Please make a video planting zinnias. 😁 Thanks!!!
Tulips need fertelizer?
No, they are fine with or without fertilizer
