Amy loved Root's journey. It was indeed the best thing about her character. But it was also funny that she loved the journey yet she didn't say anything positive about Root's ending because we all know (even Amy knew) that it sucked.
glorgatemyzarnic actually it wasn't out of the blue. Nolan had planned to kill Root off in the way they did, since she became a regular. Now they didn't realize that the story would go in the direction of a romance between her and Shaw, and IMHO it derailed their original plan, but yet they kind of forced it anyway. Also Amy Acker was told at the beginning of season 4, that Root would be killed off if POI made it to season 5
glorgatemyzarnic well, too be fair Nolan and Plageman saw the writing on the wall, and knew that if by some miracle they got a 5th season it would be their last. Nolan wanted 7 seasons, so had he got his wish Root would have died then after her relationship with Shaw was developed.
Hands down, Root is my favourite favourite character :). Truly hope that there is more of POI. Fingers crossed
