I think it’s so weird that the seafood boil places you’ve been visiting boil their seafood in plain water & then pour sauce over at the end like that... looks bland af to me ): They definitely don’t do it that way in New Orleans and they don’t even do that here at the viet-cajun spots in CA LOL.
Yeah,, u r not alone!! I grew up outside of New Orleans and we always had a mesh sack in our seafood boils, plus we added to the water numerous other spices and such, plus we made a sauce to either put on the food or dip, it! But still to this day when i make seafood boil at home I still do it as i was taught as a child, growing up in Louisiana yummy 😋
It's so much better when it's boiled in seasonings! I don't care if you use a pre-made Cajun seasoning or your grandmother's secret blend. Boiling all that goodness into the seafood and sides is HEAVEN!
As a person from south Louisiana y’all peeling technique is killing me!! And no ppl from Louisiana do not call it mud bugs we call it crawfish!! If the crawfish is cooked right you just have to pinch the tail and then the crawfish comes right out.
@@emeyers5984 It’s the eating thing thats special! We have ”kräftpremiär” here in Sweden in August. Thats when you are allowed to fish them! Then we have ”kräftskiva” (party) and eat together. They are not as expensive now as they were when I was younger! Then it was like a luxuary to eat them! So my dad learned me how to eat them! If they are bigger, there are even meat in the legs 😀 In the head part you can find ”kräftsmör” (the crawfish butter) and also ”kräftrom” (crawfish eggs) if its female and she hasn’t laid yet! It is a lot of work as you say for nearly nothing, but to me its, beside their deliciousness, the thing. I boil them in 2,5 L water, 1DL salt, Dill and 2 sugar kubes/bites! Some people have beer in when boiling, but not me! With a toast of bread with butter and cheese on it😍
@@Rubrikmakerskan We use water, beer, fresh lemons (cut in half, squeeze then drop it in the pot), and Zatarains (seasoning spice mix liquid or powder). Some use a different seasoning called Old Bay (New England style) or Tony Chacere (Creole) but we prefer the Z! Your party would be fun!

20 Pounds of crawfish isn’t actually that much. The weight is in the shell/head. At most it’s prob less than 10 pounds of meat. Still great video tho 👍🏻
Hi Raina!!! You know I enjoyed this video with handsome Joel!!! Oh them eyes!!! I like craw fish. Only had them at a Chinese buffet a few times. Really!!! Great video. Take care 🙂 & Stay safe
That looked fantastic. When I was very young, my Mom's family would gather crawfish from the Meramec River in West St. Louis County near their home. I don't think I have ever had boiled crawfish. It should be similar to Gulf Coast shrimp. Thanks Papa Bob
Yall need to come down to Cajun Country. Breaux Bridge, Louisiana is the crawfish capital of the world. If yall actually ate them prepared here. They would be live before you boil them in very seasoned water with lots of extra side stuff. And you absolutely have to have an ice cold beer with it. Yall come and enjoy Louisiana.
20 lbs should be so easy for 2 people!! That's nothing! Sorry guys but we eat that down here in TEXAS as a snack! Next time get it with the boiled corn and boiled potatoes too. And turn up the heat with more Cajun seasoning! Yummmm!!💚
Another kickass win for Raina. She even had side's before and after. I'm telling you she is the queen of food challenges. Joel your a beast and I love seeing you two at as many competitions as possible.
Raina you and Joel absolutely killed this challenge and had a lot of fun doing it but i was looking for some sausage, potatoes and eggs to go along with those crawfish oh well you did have some healthy vegetables and btw i saw you throwing your lemons in the bucket LMBO 🤣thanks for sharing and stay safe my friends 😷✌🏽✌🏽💛 bye bye
I’ll admit when it comes to well seasoned Crawfish, I can eat 10lbs by myself with sides. And I love the really big ones 😋 , my son Steven and I would easily kill this in about a hour or less , we love them so much. I’d truly be in my element 🤷🏽♀️.
I always feel like crawfish makes for so much wasted food.. they never eat the claws or any other prt because theres not enough for it to be worth the time. Just feels like a huge waste
From someone that's born and raised in Louisiana... Those crawfish r imported cause crawfish season doesn't start til Nov 1st..... And we can eat 20lbs alone... Lol
SPOILER ALERT: Raina eats all 20lbs herself. I love the motif of the restaurant. Those are some beautiful crawfish. Too bad the claws are so small. This seemed so easy for you Raina; congrats on another win Champ!!!
Please come to Southern Louisiana and get some real crawfish the way they cooked this makes me cry 😭 I've lived in Louisiana my whole life and if a restaurant cooked it like that here they'd be closed in a week. Also I can eat this with corn and potatoes easy by myself in less than 30 minutes
Soooo.... I love your content and have been watching for a while and I hate that my first reply ever is a negative one but... 20lbs of crawfish? That yield is like a third. That's like a Tuesday.
Twenty pounds of crawfish awe I miss eating crawfish come on November the season will officially be opened. Six cold beers on ice and some sweet juice crawfish from Breaux Bridge. Talk about good eating
I would happily try. Love seafood boils so much. So surprised that the state i currently live in (oregon) doesn’t have any decent seafood boil restaurants. Tried a couple in Portland and they were garbage. Las Vegas had much better seafood boil restaurants and they have to fly in their crawfish 😂😂😂
I would like to have 20 pounds of crawdads, would try my best! I know at the NOLA Jazzfest my brother and I got our fill teaching college guys from OH how to eat them. They kept buying basket after basket but we got the best of the deal because my brother has these weird thumbs and can open a crawfish in seconds. Apparently they were from rich families because they were buying us beers and other tasty dishes just for us talking about what was in them! I never felt bad because our late sister was a chef so I was able to tell them how to cook stuff like gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee, fried okra, gator pie. A good time was had by all, then we went and saw Steely Dan.

My thoughts exactly! I boil mine in beer with cajun spices! I'd never dream of boiling seafood in plain water!
That spot they were at boils in spicy crawfish seasoning. Then they dump the spicy butter. Its pretty good.
Definitely must boil it with spices so juices go inside.
I can eat that I one sitting I'm from Louisiana crawfish are my favorite
Waiting on your follow-up video finishing this. Dammit... now I want some crawfish...
Me too...I’m from Louisiana also
I use to live in Lake Charles. Ate em all the time.
Sameeee. I'm from Lake Charles !
Me too! With potatoes, corn and mushrooms!!!❤️🦞🦀
Omg that’s a lot of crawfish!! And it looks so amazing and flavorful. You are traveling all over the states and eating tasty foods, so lucky!💖💖
VANNIE IM A BIG FAN LIKE IM A BIG BIG MUKBANG FAN
Lol surprised this is a challenge. This a just a weekend meal in Louisana except the brocoli should be corn on the cob
And potatoes, sausage, boiled eggs.
I don’t see them sucking the heads on the crawfish 🦞, that’s the best part of it,all the flavor is in the head 🤷🏽♀️ .
I was thinking what a waste
same
They were boiled in plain water, there wasn’t going to be much flavor there anyway
It's keeping them from getting full
As a person from south Louisiana y’all peeling technique is killing me!! And no ppl from Louisiana do not call it mud bugs we call it crawfish!! If the crawfish is cooked right you just have to pinch the tail and then the crawfish comes right out.
All the claws😔 kind of a waste! I love crawfish❤️ #crawfish # favoritefood #Ieatitall I envy you guys 😍
It isn’t worth the trouble to get what little meat exists in the crawfish claws. But, if someone wants to bother with it, be my guest! 😊

What do you win if you finish it?
20 lbs fully shelled is only a few pounds of actual meat. Go to Texas or Louisiana, go to a crawfish boil, now that's a good time.
20 Pounds of crawfish isn’t actually that much. The weight is in the shell/head. At most it’s prob less than 10 pounds of meat. Still great video tho 👍🏻
It's funny how ppl will suck crawfish heads but don't like lobster heads.
lol yea 20 pounds split between two people
