Both were good. And Acasia Red Elk danced like a bird, and she raised her feathers with perfect timing, and I like the way she styled it. My favorite part was when she paused, then continued slowly again, and then ended with her feathers raised up to her face. Great talents. But both did great
girl in the dark outfit is amazing. she is so light on her feet..i don't think i seen her feet part in the second dance..her footwork is beautiful and she stays with the drumbeat 💕
Its almost like shes dancing on clouds she barley touches the ground thats hard to do giving the fact of gravity and I bet shes rockin with a least respectfully 365 lids of Copenhagen cans so wow
I don’t know the Lakota natives like I do many of the Pueblo people in the 4 corners area. I grew up near Isleta Pueblo which is fairly close to the Cochiti, Acoma, Laguna, Navajo, Hopi and Zuni nations. My grandmother is 1/4 Chickasaw so my connection to any tribe is very remote genetically but I admire these people so much. We have so much to learn from them…
It's awesome being taken back in time, you can see and feel the Power n Pride of a mighty great Nation, gives me great pride to be of my maori indigenous heritage.
Agree. At least keep it in line with the zig zag directions and do your fancy stuff along the way .The Ojibway dream about the healing dress was the teaching I was taught.
Nova Courchene Thought the same. Even men, the men look all covered up, I don’t think they always had that many coverings all over, but that doesn’t matter.. because Native Islanders don’t always wear the old traditional clothings as well in our dances. At least everyone’s holding on to something.
That's why there is a difference between contemporary dance competitions and traditional dance. They both have value and they both have their place. Younger generations should be free to be creative and experiment with their own dancing. It doesn't detract from traditional forms of dance.
OMG what a performance! I have never seen this before. Thank you so very much for posting this. Those two kids in the audience need to give the floor to the dancers. They are distracting.
not every native has a native american last name dumbass thx to white colonialism alot of our ancestors were forced to change their names and so now alot of families don't know their original names...why are u so pressed about her loving native culture
+ALWAYS Hungry You are so ignorant I think the energy spent explaining why not everyone can or wants to change their last name would just be wasted on you.
I have noticed this same two woman in other videos I am sure. The Thunder of their Style of Dance , Their Posture, Power, Grace, Pride and Beauty speak louder than any words could ever say. They are both Truly Majestic and Beautiful. I refuse to try to understand how anyone could attempt to make a contest on such Magnificent Artist. It seems to me to be entirely shameful, disrespectful and cheapens the entire efforts and respect of such truly great and wonderful Dancers. Such Contest are unworthy of these Great Artist. High Art does not lend or lower itself to Contest. These Contest should be Stopped , it is unworthy and wrong.
awesome, I was there....glad it won't be in the Pit anymore....don't know if Tingley is better though! Wish GON would purchase a great domain for Outdoor gathering!
It’s all in who you know in Indian country. 1369 was the obvious winner! Graceful, elegant, great coordination! The other girl was all over the place. 1369 was ROBBED! 😔
I'm sorry to be negative on such a beautiful video. Blows my mind that 31 ppl would thumb down this video. Of course as I typed that, I realize how naïve I was being. People thumb down just because they can.
The woman who picked the second place dancer must need her eyes checked. First she wandered off and walked by the two dancers, then she picked the wrong dancer. Acosia should have won.
It was taught that you are NOT to dance back. The dancer with the solid white feathers ( in MY opinion) was more respectful to the spirit of the dance. They both did well.😊
the first place is beautiful girl i have black foot in me i dont know how much i would love to be able to learn about the culture they was both beautiful
The metal cones on the dresses are jingles that make a collective sound as the dancer moves. This dress is from a tradition of the Objibwe People, from a story about the healing power of the sound of the jingles and the prayers of the dancers. This is a newer powwow dance.
A girly I loved loving the other one they bathies with me to her she's losing her she wasn't hurting after she seen me. I'm magical I'm a jingle dress dancer.
Best clothes in the world. People should lose the stupid suits and ties, ball caps and T-shirts with crappy logos, and those awful business suits women wear - and dress like that every day.
Both were good. And Acasia Red Elk danced like a bird, and she raised her feathers with perfect timing, and I like the way she styled it. My favorite part was when she paused, then continued slowly again, and then ended with her feathers raised up to her face. Great talents.

You know that they say jingle dress is too fancy now a days.
Agree. At least keep it in line with the zig zag directions and do your fancy stuff along the way .The Ojibway dream about the healing dress was the teaching I was taught.
I too still enjoy old style.. Touches my heart

What does jingle dance mean
The metal cones on the dresses are jingles that make a collective sound as the dancer moves.
This dress is from a tradition of the Objibwe People, from a story about the healing power of the sound of the jingles and the prayers of the dancers.
This is a newer powwow dance.
Acosia should have won.

Its old style. I believe
A girly I loved loving the other one they bathies with me to her she's losing her she wasn't hurting after she seen me. I'm magical I'm a jingle dress dancer.
I preferred the girl in the red jingle dress..she is lighter on her feet and keeps the beat!
Why not create an (Indigenous School Of Alternative Dance)! Northern England got one!
Best clothes in the world. People should lose the stupid suits and ties, ball caps and T-shirts with crappy logos, and those awful business suits women wear - and dress like that every day.
