Mark chooses 3 different picks from his own toolshed to demonstrate how he uses them to dig for buried treasure and gold nuggets. Using a pick to dig for valuable artifacts, coins or gold can be a unnerving experience but in hard dry ground or cobble rocks it's a necessary tool to use. Come along on this trip as he digs a few targets and discusses features of construction and gives you pros and cons He also demonstrates different digging techniques and some serious safety concerns.

Yep Apex...had the same one for 10 years.. it will break me before I break it. Mostly coins and relics now. Light duty long handled with a super magnet. Similar to the Mako. Don’t like bending over. Back injury’s.
A pick is my primary digging tool the the Leche T handle in 31 and have the 38 I believe. Good stuff keep on....!

Interesting you mention starting a fire with sparks from a pick. I did just that back in 98 on a very windy day, sparks from the pick on quarts float. That oily weed that grows in with grass out in that very area your doing this video at. Would have been really bad for me if it had gotten out of hand since I worked for corrections at a fire camp.

Yes!! I can see that... So you were able to knock it down before it took off? I worked many a mile of fireline flanks with a McCloud hand tool back in my younger days. 🧑‍🚒🚒

Luckily we had rain all the way into June in 98 and the grass was still green. The tar weed caught but not the grass, about 6 ft square spot. I was able to knock it down with my pick. We were back in about a mile and a half off Scott rd. I will never forget that day. I helped work building hand line when I was supervising YA crews on fire lines.

Hello, and thank you for the view and comment/question. I had that pick cut to 24 inches (61 cm) total, since the handle hozzle comes down 4 inches (10 cm), I have 20 inches (51 cm) of wood handle. I can highly recommend the picks made by Apex. Hope you will subscribe! 🤠⛏

I do like my predator shovel, I have many shovels from different manufacturers and I can recommend different ones for different reasons but this particular shovel I like because it is lightweight but strong. Thank you for your view and comment/question!
