I was sceptical when shown them hence doing out of a scrap piece of wood. I’ve already made another one which I will show soon. Very simple fun project. Take good care 😃
Fantastic little project 👏👏 never heard of one before, massive difference, I wonder could you make a massive once😆 or a spiral one for louder acoustics🧐 great video, cheers Rob
I hadn’t heard of these either until shown recently. The new one in style of a radio is better already so I guess there is so much potential for this as a project. Will be making some more . Video of my radio version coming soon. Mark
Really interested in how your different experiments with this will pan out, not gonna lie! I reckon the type of wood used would make a bit of a difference, particularly any hardwood v softwood, different species within hardwoods and softwoods maybe not so much. However the shape/size of the hole is probably more significant? If you find yourself using the pull saws a lot you can make a slightly longer bench hook with space behind the upwards hook that you traditionally brace your workpiece against, and put it on the other side of it - that way you don't have to grip it as tight when you're making your cross cuts as it pulls into the hook, you only have to apply a bit of downwards pressure. The trade off is that it then needs to either be clamped onto your workbench or I prefer to clip the hook into my vice.
I think your right there are a lot of different designs out there so I’m going to have fun with them. Currently making one out of 4 different woods in the shape of an old fashioned radio. Thanks for the advice on a bench hook. I talked about this on one of my Japanese saw’s videos so I will make one and put it on here. 😃
Definitely makes it louder but you lose the bass and mid range. It’s almost like you’ve created a tweeter. I wonder if it would change it to a more mid range or deeper sound if you made it bigger?
Great, simple prototype Mark, interested to see what comes next. Have you seen this one from another Mark @small space creation ua-cam.com/video/fJNhN7_-WUM/v-deo.html
Thanks been looking too hard for just the right one the simple is the solution
Good job and project thx for sharing Cheers
Wow i like this very eazy and simple. Most others are complex
That’s pretty cool ! I think I am going to the shed and giving it a go , thanks for sharing
Yes go and have a go the many designs on UA-cam make for a lot of choices.
I’m already making one in the shape of an old fashioned radio.
Nice job Mark. I use bluetooth ear buds when I am in the shop. When I put my sound protection ear muffs on, I can still hear the podcast.
Well I was surprised by this, didn't think it was gonna make any difference but it made a big difference

Love it, You'll have to go into mass production or expand the shed😂
Not sure I will have a run on them but I guess you never know. 😃

@@KAPWoodworkandbuilding Old fashioned radio shape sounds really fun!

Definitely is top range heavy. I’m going to make a few different ones to experiment with the concept.

Yes I’ve seen the design and would fancy making one. Currently making one that looks like an old radio. Video coming soon. Have you made one?
