Making A Passive Wooden Speaker for a Smartphone // Woodworking Project

- I've beeen wanting to make a passive speaker for my phone, but i didn't see any designs I really liked, until I saw Matt's video over at Badger Workshop. I decided to go with that design, but make a few modifications to put my own spin on the speaker.
As luck would have it, my holes saws, which are pretty important too the design, would not make clean cuts in the hard woods, so I settled for cutting them by hand. Maybe not the cleanestt look, but this little speaker sounds amazing!!
I hope this video gives you a few good ideas to make a phone speaker of your own.

7:00 the Milwaukie Hole Dozer General Purpose Bi-Metal Hole Saw Set is what I use. I wish I'd bought these decades ago.
Thanks for the suggestion! I looked them up and added them to my Amazon list. Milwaukee sure is proud of those things !🤣
What size are your blanks you started with to make this speaker?
AUGH! Can’t believe I forgot to put that in there! 🤣
5”x5”x1/2”
I based it off my phone size and what I thought might look good.
If you have a bigger phone, you might want it bigger.
What brand forstner bits do you use? I know most of them are recommended for a drill press I'm looking for ones that would work great in my drill looks like you have a good set
I bought the larger Irwin set because it’s one of the few that includes sizes over 2” and it has multiples of the more common sizes. I think I featured the exact set on my “Woodworking gifts under $100” video, should be a link in the description there. Thanks for watching!
Awesome thank you. I'll look into them. I started doing wood working and crafts to make extra money for my rescue animals.
@@bethupson2492 oh awesome! What do you rescue?
I rescue unwanted and injured farm birds.
@@bethupson2492 Huh, that's a very interesting and specific group of animals. I hope it goes great with making products to raise money!
