They aren't nerds. Nerds are actually smart and study math intensive STEM fields, not soft social sciences. Nerds are busing studying for finals, not protesting wars that have nothing to do with the universities that they are attending. I know, I was there.

I remember my grandma when I was a little kid would take us all to McDonald's or something like that to eat, go through the drive thru, and then when we were done would go on a ride in the back roads in the woods until she found a good spot and would just roll down the window and throw out the trash in the woods. I remember thinking as a little kid like "what the hell? There are trash cans outside every gas station, we have trash cans both on the way into the house/ inside the house as well..." There were so many other more responsible ways of dealing with the trash and yet for some reason she always wanted to throw the trash in the woods. I never said anything but I can actually remember being kind of angry when she would do that. Like, it's not even any more convenient than just throwing it in the trash can!! It's almost like she just did it just purely in spite of hippies or something. Now luckily she's too old to drive herself anywhere so we don't have to worry about that anymore, but I genuinely wonder the landfills worth of trash she probably disposed of that way throughout her life, scattered all throughout the woods of Northern Maryland. Ugh, sorry guys lol. At a young age I knew that was wrong though but like, it's my grandma ya know? What was I gonna say? Did it just about every time she had trash in the car that I can remember. Ugh.

Very correct! When I was a kid (primarily 1980s), the general rule was "don't pollute". Simple. Don't litter, don't dump waste into waterways, etc. If that message had stayed the same, things would be much better and saner

That message was huge in the 70s and 80s. And for the most part it seemed to work. I don’t recall seeing any litter or dirty streets as a child in those days.

As an American, I’m in the side of the American Flag, our constitution, our veterans, our law enforcement, sanity and common sense.
