I reported an elementary school female teacher for notes I found in my childs textbook where she told him to call her by her first name,told him she would let him sleepover if he wanted to and to just pretend to run away and say we were mean to him. She signed the notes "love love real love, Cathy" the principal told me she was just going through a hard time! I called child welfare and pushed for her to be fired! They just moved her to another school! Same tactic as the priests! We need a huge investigation!
That must have been/still be absolutely infuriating. I wish you would have been able to sue and pursue prosecution, but I know that takes money. I hope your son is OK. Good on you for protecting him.

When I was in 8th grade, also in Hillsborough County Florida, I had an extremely inappropriate computers class teacher. He would creep on myself and another student(who would become my best friend). We trauma bonded after he put our seats next to each other in front of his desk. He would massage my shoulders, and stare down her shirt. Always lurking behind us. We reported him to administration and instead of helping us, we were punished. He would give us assignments like "write an essay on what you did wrong." My friend and I actually made a petition for testimony of other students that had witnessed his behavior and we gained over 100 signatures, we even had a trusted teacher escalate it to the school board. Last I heard that man is still teaching.
Wow...sounds like a male teacher that I had at my jr high school...he did the same thing and also taught the same subject.
Our school fired him after he was reported.

We desperately need parents to homeschool. To keep their kids safe and to actually educate their kids….. not allowing them to be indoctrinated wirh the Wokeism that’s epidemic in public schools.
Homeschooling will not necessarily protect your children from being abused. Abuse by adults working with children/youth at churches of all types has become very common. Homeschooled children may encounter abusive coaches, tutors and teachers (art, music, etc). If that’s not enough, there also can be unknown threats from babysitters, friends and family members.
My own homeschooled son was sexually abused at church for a year by the pastor. My homeschooled daughter was victimized by abusive coaches. My vigilance and closeness to my children didn’t save them from the experience. Several psychiatrists I took my son to due to sudden personality changes and severely uncontrolled behavior missed what in hindsight were obvious signs of abuse (diagnosing him instead with a variety of disorders).
The fact that I shut down the gym with abusive coaches and got their coaching credentials removed, won two lawsuits against the institutions that hired and enabled the pastor, and was instrumental in keeping the pastor in prison after his conviction was small satisfaction when compared to the damage my children suffered.
Do not think because your children are not in public or private school that they’re safe! Institutional abuse (especially of children) is a problem we ALL need to actively work to end.
Home schooling children can be so much better than sending them to public schools.
It depends on the child, the parents, and the public schools on offer. I feel sorry for kids with weirdo ideologue parents like Mr Walsh here, who'd probably relish 8 hours a day break from his constant fanaticism. Homeschooling definitely is better. I know many homeschooling families, and the children are much more advanced in every area compared to public school children.

I was an elementary school principal for 12 years. In the last 3 years of my career, I encountered 3 cases of inappropriate sexual behavior toward students. In one case, a male special ed. teacher was clearly grooming students by giving them money and asking them to lunch. His contract was non-renewed the next year, but despite my protestations, he was given a recommendation to another district by the HR director. In another case, a teacher was accused of making misbehaving students put their hands in the teacher's pockets as he taught class. In a third case, an 18-year-old prior student accused a teacher of inappropriate touching. In these last two cases, the teachers were investigated and in spite of clear evidence of veracity of the claims, the teachers were left in place. Principals who try to do the right thing in these cases are scorned by the staff and often the parents, too.

My daughter came home from high school within the first week and claimed that the chemistry teacher was "looking down girl's shirts. At the parent's night meeting, he introduced his wife as "That hot babe in the back row." I looked up his employment history--he had taken lateral moves from three high schools, which instantly said to me "allowed to resign without being reported." He was also vastly overqualified for his job. He now serves on a state board related to science education...but at least he is out of the classroom.

When i was 19 i had an English teacher offer me an A on my report card to spend a weekend with him on his houseboat. It was my first year in college. He also happened to be a stste senator. He made the same offer to my friend. She got an A. I got a C. I'm now 73. To this day I've never been on a houseboat.
I'm EXTREMELY passionate about this subject. I've read as many as 1 in 6 kids are abused. An abused child has an average of 4 abusers. Pe dos have an average of 40 victims in their lifetime. The average sentence is probation. CA is an epidemic, but no one seems to care.
I was abused by 3 different men as a child and unwanted interactions with more. Most abused kids grow up to work in the sex trade, become addicts, end up in prison, or abusers themselves. CA ruins entire generations.
We need to protect our children. We need MUCH harsher penalties for those who breach trust and rip out souls.
When I was 5, I was abused on three separate occasions by a boy 6 or so years older than me in what, relatively speaking, was a pretty mild case. I grew up to be extremely awkward with any sort of interactions with women that took years to overcome, in addition to a pretty serious case of alcoholism that also took years to overcome. While I can't definitively prove causality here, it seems pretty likely. And again, this was a mild case, as these things go. I can only imagine how much pain is experienced by people who went through much, much worse than me. These people need to be held accountable.
I feel the same. I was also raped by 4 different men before I turned 13. Beginning around 4 or 5 and ranging in ages from 15, 18, 19, and 40's. All male. Then as a teen and young woman there was countless perverse unwanted interactions and attention. It is absolutely disgusting.
Furthermore I now believe that ALL men are pedophilic, not some, all.
I attend a therapy charity here in Ireland for victims of childhood SA. It's called ONE IN FOUR, as that's the estimate of children that are abused . 😢

In high school my astronomy teacher invited me to come hangout in his classroom during my off periods. He got arrested that year for taking pictures up students’ skirts during class. The semester before i started at that school, the drama teacher was arrested for a relationship with a student. The year after I graduated, I believe another teacher was arrested for something similar. I will do everything in my power to keep my kids out of public school

I am a teacher...but I have never been flirtatious or inappropriately friendly to a student. I have NEVER been romantic or sexual with a student -- in word or deed or gesture.... Three years ago, our vice principal killed himself. The reason? He was involved with a seventeen-year old student and the student (who is now in her late 20s) accused him of sexual impropriety. Racked with guilt, he killed himself. Our schools are staffed by good people...but there are perverts and predators as well.
And yet, it's never talked about, and parents don't know about it. Sure, most teachers would ever do that, but the fact that it's happening way more now is something to worry about. And as a teacher who would never do that, don't you want to stop this garbage? Why won't you say something? I'll tell you why, because if you do, you'll lose your job.

That’s gross. I’m a 50 year old woman and I don’t know how you could look at a ten year old boy sexually. Last year a 31 year old good looking guy wanted to date me and I said no because even that is gross to me. Even though it’s legal that still would have made me feel like a pedophile.

James O'Keefe did an undervover story about "those" teachers, years ago & it has only gotten worse.
I was abused by not one but four different male staff members as a teenager in public and when my parents sued them part of the deal they wanted me to sign was to not be able to publicly tell anyone about what happened to me. All to save their own butt rather than publicly apologize. Just sweep it under the rug and be done. Only one did a night in jail and 10 years probation.

The head researcher in that study concluded that children were literally -- and I'm using "literally" literally -- 100 times safer with a Catholic priest than with a public school teacher or staff member.

Matt, the scourge of predator teachers has reached my small town in Northern CA. We recently found out my former middle school teacher had sex in her classroom with a 14 year old boy after his graduation ceremony in 2021. She bailed out immediately after her arrest last fall, and still shows up to the little league games her two young sons play in.
Regarding the school sexual abuse topic... most people know some teachers. As such, they are reluctant to demonize them generally.
Comparatively, few know anyone in Hollywood. So, it doesn't feel like betraying a friend to demonize Hollywood generally.
And, a lot of people hate religion already. So, any time they catch a religious person sinning, they love to take the opportunity to blame religion.
People are selfish. People are motivated to take opportunities to hate what they already hate.

speaking from a 19 yo, your daughter needs help. you need to sit her down and explain that this behavior is going to lead to her being broke and homeless when no job will hire her because she wants to refer to herself as an animal. you need to start treating her like an animal, no more cooking for her, cleaning her clothes or room, no more “human” activities for her. you need to let her “fend for herself” so she can understand what it’s like to actually have a human struggle of “oh wow i am hungry and that means i’m going to have to apply for a job and make some money to pay for some groceries so i don’t starve”. this animal behavior happens when children are given everything they could ever want and their parents don’t give them the serious talks that they need.

The huge problem is that predators can hide so easily. They come in all shapes and forms and anywhere there are children there will be predators. We need to start being tougher on those predators when they're caught. Punishments for not registering need to be stiffer and they need to be sent to jail for a long period of time for their first offense. They all get a slap on the wrist, so they aren't scared.
I mentioned in another comment that we need to make sure our children are not afraid to talk to us. So many of these predators rely on fear to keep the children quiet. We need to make sure that nothing bad will happen to them for reporting incidents like this to us and even the police or other school personnel that they can trust. There are still trustworthy teachers and administrators out there.
We shouldn't be surprised about this in a society that promotes sex with anyone or anything, anywhere, any time. One thing that definitely isn't taught in school is abstinence or even self control.

Porn probably has a large part to play in all this. Once I worked at an elementary school and heard 3rd graders making what sounded like pornographic moaning noises. Schools today are nothing like they were even 20 years ago. It’s frightening. Best to homeschool nowadays.
We get calls from the school weekly about the fire alarm malfunctioning or a bus being delayed by 10 minutes, but not a peep when several teachers have “resigned” after inappropriate activities with students.

The teachers at my Sons Elementary 5th grade class dressed like hookers. They wore short low cut dresses and Hooker Heels, disgusting and they were nothing more than glorified babysitters. They didn't teach, they never checked the homework it was disgusting. My Sons father and I gave our Son his foundation for reading and math. My Son is a voracious reader who at 26 still reads and has his own library of books. My being active in my Sons life ensured no predator would ever come near him. I also made sure his friends knew I was someone that would help them and protect them if they ever need. Unfortunately we now have "No Child Left Behind" parents where some are not as concerned about their childs education. Predators/Teachers see public schools as a free for all of victims. And that is maddening,..

It's been going on longer than that. When my son was in middle school over a decade ago, there was a teacher hiding and taking pictures of kids in the bathroom to add to his extensove child porn collection. Administrators from TWO school districts not only looked the other way, they defended this lowlife and tried to bully students who came forward into silence. Finally a concerned parent reached the right person in law enforcement and he was arrested. Before that, however, this went on for YEARS.

It was right to make efforts to end the abuse in the church, but I have been telling people for years that the teacher's union efforts to conceal abuse and protect abusers are exponentially higher.
Lord only knows what else is going on in the Public Schools, especially since many of the teachers with their heads screwed on straight wound up leaving during the Covid mandates and the insane social agenda that all went down around the same time. There's no way in the world I'd have a child in the system these days. It was bad enough 15 years ago when my son graduated from public high school.

I’m a teacher and have ZERO tolerance for the bs. I keep an eye on the offender registry in my area (I’m a mom too). An ex HS teacher moved in down the street and I posted her mug shot, news articles about what she did on Nextdoor and didn’t blur her address. It’s all publicly available after all. And I don’t think you should be able to escape the rebuke just because you moved to a different county. She hurt that boy 17 times and thinking about it makes me cry. Each time, she went over to the families house. It’s just so brazen. Thankfully the district reported her to the police, put her on suspension during the investigation (so she didn’t have access to kids), and subsequently fired her. And she got a pretty pair of metal bracelets that fit her perfectly (handcuffs). These kids are the most precious things and they have to be protected at all costs. Shame on all CAers. Even if they move, they should be outed. The victims don’t get a fresh start, so neither should they.
It’s getting to the point where news programs will be doing a story about cooking and some solemn faced reporter will come on and say “ we have to warn you that the following images contain pictures of Teflon pans, sensitive viewers should turn away from their screens”.
We used to tell people that their problems and “triggers” were their problems, not the rest of society problem .
And we used to have thicker skins and not be so hyper sensitive .
Now people are actively looking for ways to be offended…… in order to make themselves a victim, to be perceived as a victim. It doesnt matter what you are a victim of, if it’s real and negatively impacts your life and really does need to change, or if it’s just imaginary, exaggerated and has little or no impact on your life………..just that you are a victim of something, is enough.
In my son’s 4 years in high school 4 teachers/coaches/administrators /gym teachers were removed due to this. Awful awful for these kids
(White) Millennial Vermonter here who grew up and has stayed there since…I lost my s**t when I read about that loan program and have seriously considered a lawsuit. I have lived here my entire life and can’t buy a house, so why should I be sent to the back of the line for folks who have never even lived here?! I think the one thing holding me back is that I would get socially annihilated by friends and some family, and by the general community. People are fiercely liberal and extremely defensive of diversity and would absolutely turn against me. It scares me more than anything, but then again, that’s how these things get out of control…

In the 1800s, local school boards had strict rules for female teachers - the length of their skirts, required church attendance, no alcohol allowed, and in general impeccable personal demeanor and behavior. I used to think this was ridiculous. It never occurred to me until now that they were worried about predatorial female teachers.

I do think the fact that most teachers are women and most victims are boys plays a massive role in this (along with the unions of course). Many people don't see the boys as victims. The media always down plays the crime by calling it a relationship or inappropriate behavior when its a woman perpetrator.
My 16 year old son has observed that not sleeping around, following a Biblical worldview, and starting a family is the new way to rebel. Je only realized this from interacting with public school kids, many of whom in our state are getting sick of the liberal indoctrination. We homeschool, so my kids have been spared. Really happy to hear about the push back from many in their generation.

As a Canadian, I have always assumed that the reason Canada and Australia are so similar socially is because they have a similar origin, British colonies which were given independence. I live abroad and people here always assume Canada and America are the same. They are not. Canada has a totally different foundation from America. Our nation was settled by the British and the French in order to expand their empires and resource their economies.We did not fight for our freedom. We were granted independence from Britain and formed a government for mainly infrastructural reasons. There is very little cohesive shared history of heroes and freedom to unite around. In fact, we still have a huge French province in the middle of our country with its own language and culture. We have never really been a nation with a strong sense of common ideals and goals. Also, many of the people who settled the Canadian southern border were Loyalists who fled America during the Revolutionary war... basically all of your party-line-toters with no appetite for rebellion found a home in Canada.
The world today is full of double standards, and void of accountability.
Imagine sending your kid to a public school
At our local district a teacher was accused of sexual assault on a student. While under unvestigation they moved him to a different school to work with NONVERBAL Students. I got the police report that showed the notes and texts between the first student and the teacher. As a parent so many red flags of being a groomer. He wrote one note with invisible ink so the parent couldn't see it. And the school thought it suitable to take that man and put him with nonverbal students.
My son is nonverbal. That makes me see red. Reading countless horror stories like this really solidifies my conviction that homeschooling is the only option.

When my older son was in Jr High & High school, he often went to my parent's house after school because I worked until 5. A high school teacher lived down the street from them. She started offering him rides & I was Ok with that because she had a teenage son of her own. HOWEVER, she began having her son ride the bus home but still driving my son. I was completely creeped out & went to her house, told her that my son was not to set foot in her car again. About 6-7 months later, she was arrested for having sex with one of my son's classmates in.. you guessed it...her Car!! 🤬

That number 1/10 just seems off. That would mean that in my school alone there would be 36 kids a year this happens to. And that’s not the case… so where is this happening? We’ve had 2 people in my state that I know of in my 10 years of teaching. Even if they hide it- they’re not able to do that in my district. For my district that would mean 500 kids a year… that’s just not happening. We had one incident of a pervert texting a student and he was fired. That 10 percent stat just seems odd.
