I've never checked the dictionary definition of "insane", but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like "a person who runs a marathon, with a hangover, for the purpose of a shoe test".
I'm onto 80km in my Novablast 5s. I really like them. As an everyday shoe for 80% of your running I think they tick the boxes. I have picked up the pace in them for short bursts and they work. So it's a go to shoe for me.
“Start slower at 8min/mile..” 😆😆😆 now that’s a flex 💪 if there ever was one..i can only dream of holding that pace on my best day, man does it post hangover as ez pace 😆
Always love these longer distance, real world tests. I also felt they were too soft but nothing as bad as the Nimbus. Glad I bought the brilliant Superblast 2 instead. Another brilliant video 👍
An absolute trooper for putting in a marathon distance with a hangover!!! I haven’t worked my way up to that distance yet, but have one scheduled in the spring.
Run my first ever marathon 3 weeks ago wearing Novablast 5. 3:23:30. I think they performed well. Sure, if I had plated shoes, I might be able to accomplish BQ, who knows. Had 5K and 10k in them with PB in both. But, yes, I definitely will get some other for faster speed sessions and racing.
Great video as always. As for whether it's a sub 4 marathon shoe, it's not so much the shoe, but the runner. I've taken shoes where reviewers said it was a tempo day shoe and have done 3:30 marathons as well as Comrades (approx 90k) in sub 8h30
Legend...I have a pair coming for easy miles, let's hope they work better for me than the 4s which I loved but had issues with the tongue slipping/ankle pain
I like these videos simply because of being a runner who is trying to break 4. Most of the influencers are high speed and probably not much learning for people like myself.
Marathon Test the New Under Armour Infinite Elite 2. I think you are going to enjoy the update. I'm telling you they are alot better and they dropped about 2oz ❤
Sounds like they’re a good training shoe at a lot of different paces… exactly what they are designed for. Giving a lot back is the opposite of what a training shoe is designed to do.
I’m looking for a shoe without a plate that I can cruise on my long training runs at marathon pace ~7:45/mile and protects my legs. Think the NB5 might tick those boxes.
Probably a dumb question but if I’m trying to slow down to do a 4 hour marathon with a group is it best to leave the carbon plated shoe at home and go with my Gel Nimbus or Rebel V4 ?? I’m just so used to reaching for the “race shoe” on a race day
Novablast 5 sizing Hey there! My shoe size is 8-8.5 3E. I have a 1080v13 in 8.5 2E that fits me great because of the roomy and stretchy upper. Should I go with 8.5 2E on the Novablast 5 or should I go half a size up?
You could hit 3:30 in almost any shoe. You definitely don’t need a special carbon racer or anything (although they might make it a little easier) personally I’d choose to run in a shoe that’s most comfortable for your long runs. 😊
Today I tested the Novablast 4, 5 and Mach 6 / Clifton 9 I bought the Novablast 5 in the end because I really liked the feel, but I was 50 : 50 with the Mach 6 which really gives you a bit more speed and "fun" imo. I think I buy me the Mach 6 as well in some weeks if I see them on a discount. Try out the Mach 6 on a Treadmill in the shop and you will see what I mean.
@@ChristianJosephs I got the mach 6 and the Novablast 4 but I don't feel like they can really help me for a marathon distance. I feel like the Mach 6 is not cushioned enough after the first 20k and the Novablast is a very comfortable but a bit heavy and not reactive enough
In the first Avatar movie there's a scene where two blue people (don't know wtf they're called) make a connection and say "I see you". This is how felt about this hungover LORD running a marathon so I can buy some shoes and run a pithy 10k. I SEE YOU
Are we not gonna talk about that out toeing ??? That form looks miserable, my friend ! Try the Kyanos !!! Or a good stability shoe that helps your foot strike land more centered !! Or keep enjoying your life I’m just a friend in the comments.
I call BS on this review. Not sure he reviewed his own comments before concluding “for some people, in some situations, this might be a marathon shoe.” Is a weaker endorsement possible? Nope. I counted at least four times where he mentioned the shoes were too soft, had no energy return and were making him work harder. Exactly what no one wants for a marathon. Lmfao, just answer honestly and say “no, this shoe is too soft, saps your energy, so there are literally dozens and dozens of better alternatives for a marathon.” Last, not sure I’ve ever seen someone rip off 26 miles without breaking a sweat, I mean not even the remotest sign of any perspiration anywhere. Maybe just me, but I would’ve sweated through my jacket by the end. Just FYI, ASIC’s new DynaBlast 5 is actually the groundbreaking NovaBlast 3, but with an improved upper and a lower price of $120.00. This shoe actually was/is a good 4 hour marathon shoe thanks to its better energy return and half ounce lighter weight.
@@idawson998 No it’s actually true. Unlike past Dynablasts, new DynaBlast 5 is Novablast 3, with an improved upper, same exact midsole. Went back and looked at NB3 reviews, they were pretty outstanding.
The guy is a legend. Even though he's hungover from the holidays, he runs a marathon to test out shoes for us mid-pack runners ❤
I've never checked the dictionary definition of "insane", but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like "a person who runs a marathon, with a hangover, for the purpose of a shoe test".
What an absolute star, even hungover Kieran turns up, and runs a marathon to bring us relatable content.
"Not feeling particularly marathon ready this morning." That's me *every* morning 😁.
Insane! 👍Running a marathon for us mid packers just to do a shoe review! What a legend!
My guy is just built different!!! Major props!!!

totally agree. Novablast 4 is still the best over all shoes.
You are a respected individual, sir... you are responsible for testing the shoes for us.
These are EXACTLY the kind of video reviews I’ve been looking for. THANK YOU! 🙏🏻
what a trooper, i just bought it and I'm a 5 plus hour marathoner 😅
Always love these longer distance, real world tests. I also felt they were too soft but nothing as bad as the Nimbus. Glad I bought the brilliant Superblast 2 instead. Another brilliant video 👍
All subjective the Superblast 2 are too firm for me for daily running.
An absolute trooper for putting in a marathon distance with a hangover!!!
I haven’t worked my way up to that distance yet, but have one scheduled in the spring.
I've just bought these for an everyday shoe and I did a pb 10km 38m race, they felt really solid, so glad I got them.
This is proper testing! Can't believe you can go out there and run a solo marathon (I'm just building up to a half).
What a dude! Just cracking out the marathon runs left right and center 😅
This is super interesting. Your pace was virtually the same as what you got with the Superblast marathon test.
Thanks. As a 5 hour marathoner having input on slower runners is good
Much respect 🫡 helluva effort and a great run review perspective!

This is content for a motivation meme. Kudos you crazy man.

Crazy, thank you very much!!! 🎉

Legend Kieran! Great video.
Legend mate
Kieran has attained LEGEND status 🦸♂
Legend !!
Thanks for the review.
I thought running a half marathon with a hang over was hard, running a marathon with one would be almost impossible for us mortals.
A marathon on a hangover, you are an actual psychopath Kieran 🤣🤣
A marathon test for the Zoomfly 6 would be interesting. A budget friendly carbon "racer?"
Best way to fix a Christmas hangover... run a lazy 42kms the next morning. 😅🎉
Great effort (thanks) and great review. My question is: nb5 or evo sl for energy return?
I think you are going to like the Under Armour Infinite Elite 2 Update. Dropped weight, Improved Upper, Softer Foam ❤
Good job mate
Thank you for this. ❤. Will you lean towards Boston 12 compared to Novablast 5 if getting a marathon done in say 04:30 hrs is the goal?
Marathon Test the New Under Armour Infinite Elite 2. I think you are going to enjoy the update. I'm telling you they are alot better and they dropped about 2oz ❤

I bought this for easy days which is every day for me.
Kieran, recommended shoes for the 2025 Comrades - a down-run year? I'm a 3:45 marathoner, looking at a sub 10-hour Comrades time.
Fair Play, marathon sober be harder enough. Take a bow

Neo Vista
Nice one champ
Since you are heel striker, How is the outsole durability?
Yes

Have you had chance to test the saucony ride 18 yet?
Can you post a link to your Yellow/Orange Garmin band
Novablast 5 sizing

If my goal is to hit 3:30, what shoes should I consider? It has to be a carbon plated shoe or could it be something snappier like the mach 6 ?
Run some long training runs ultimately it's going to be whatever shoes are comfortable for you over that distance.
Speed 4s or Superblast 2

10 miles on boxing day was plenty for me😂
