If you had to choose between a 2004 YZ250 and a 2006, which would you go with?

I would choose the 2006. I like the SSS forks and shock better than the 2004. Also as these bikes age the steal frames don't age as well as the aluminum frames do. That being said there are some that say the steal frame was better, more forgiving. And that may surely be true. But I test rode a 2004 that had like 300 or more hours on it and I surely noticed the frame was kinda old and flexxy. I could feel it when heavy on the brakes in the braking bumps. But if the hours are low I'm sure it does great

@@UpAllNight91 Thank you! That’s what I was leaning toward. The 06 is $700 more but I think it will be worth it for the SSS. Do you think the SSS is significantly more difficult to rebuild than the OC fork?

@@AbsolutePrecisionReviews for me they are about the same. The sss is easy to pure in the amount of outer chamber fluid. Its measured by volume. Where the 2004 forks you had to measure oil height, which takes more time cause you gotta remove the cap off the cartridge and pull the spring out. SSS all the way for me lol

@@AbsolutePrecisionReviews awesome. And thanks man! Appreciate it! Yeah I think you will not be disappointed with the 2006. I had two of them back in the day, probably the most rememberable bikes I've ever owned.

Do you check the end gap on the piston ring?

Typically I don't on nickle plated cylinders in good shape. If its a cast iron sleeves cylinder thats bore-able then I would suggest it. But for these modern day bikes with nickle plated cylinders its just drop in new piston and rings in and go
