Hi, first I do not agree what you talked about 9mm is not really common in the US. There are still have lots of law enforcement using G17(full size) and G19 (mid size) they are both 9mm. You can search they do have lots of the police Trade-ins on internet. Parts of you said was Right! some of the officers or law enforcement might need a higher power pistol for their self defence, they would choose glock G22 which is .40 S&W. The biggest reason they use these because they can hold 15-17 rounds in each magazine. Not much pistol has (Double stack) designs like Glocks. For civilians also like to chose these models because they can easy to get ammo from walmart's or gun shops and price can be pretty cheap. Second, most of the glock does not have the fully auto function are not depend on how many rounds magazine they use. G18 is one of a kind that came from the factory with Fully auto function, the do have a select fire switch can able to choose as Semi or Fully-auto setting but they are really rare in the market right now. Other glocks can also install the switch, we called it "Fun Switch" it is really easy to buy online around $80 full-auto and around $135 can have a select fire setting. But remember it is illegal if we install it on the pistol. According to US gun law 26 U.S.C. 5845(b), it will count as a machinegun and won't be a pistol anymore. Some of the States in the US might able to apply from the NFA and paid for the appropriate Special Occupational Tax (SOT) to own one, but fully auto licence normally called as class 3 licence, which is not easy for everyone to apply. I own couple Glocks. i know pretty much about them. Right! their lower are plastic and look like toy but these are the reasons to keep them light, easy replacement and low budget reliable gun for many years.
@P Chiu Dude where you got the record from, there is no way anyone can take dozen shoots of hollow-point and not goin to fall down, maybe that was terminator lol You know what, nowadays lots cops use (hollow-point) and they allowed to, except Military. Hope you do some research and see what it is! Also have you ever shoot a 12GA or owned one? You know how much FPS it can make? If you say shot from 100 yds i have nothing to say then, and no one would do that! Glock 17L 八零年代版的很值得收藏。
美國警察放棄9mn改成較大火力，是因為90%暴力罪犯與毒品有關。有些毒品使用後，小火力子彈不能把他們馬上停下，有記錄在案，吸了P C P的罪犯，身中數十槍不倒，包括散彈(美警的散彈都是用12GA.3吋000，内有12個.30鉛彈)罪犯冲前把一個警察的散彈槍搶過來，用槍管把那個警察捅死。所以換成更大火力，而且訓練時的教導是一直開槍直至對方倒下。
