I watched the show only for him. We all somehow knew that he would die at the end. He deserved far much better! Team Villain till end, he must've been one of the most humane villain I've ever seen...
The fact he opened a shop for his father who abandoned him so that his father could live his life comfortably. He just needed a guidance and someone that could've pulled him out from the darkness but all he got was betrayal.
That someone could've been Nam soon and her family. I'm not implying that Nam Soon should've fallen in love with him. But as a friend, she could have helped him after all Si-o opened up to her about his whole life.
They've seriously ruined Nam Soon character as well. As someone who was lost during her childhood, she should've atleast be able to relate to Ryu Si-o at certain point. I seriously laughed when Namsoon said Si-o must've been lonely and needed atleast one person to trust him. What's the use of understanding this now when the person is already gone?!.
I cried rivers when watching the last episode. For me, Byeon Woo Seok carried the entire show, otherwise the plot and other characters were poorly written. I'm truly disappointed

I agree with every one of your words. If they wanted him to die because he is the villain then why didnt they just make him a psychopath that did all this for greed and fun. He actually had goodness in him that he needed some help with. The writers made nam soon into a clueless cruel character. If she knew he needed someone to lean on and someone that believed in him, then how could she just fool him,betray him and then let him die in vain instead of helping him out. What kind of a person does that make her?
When they could forgive hwa jaa when she tried to con them and then kill namsoon, if they helped her out bc she was an orphan THEN why couldn't they do the same with ryu. Clearly, if ryu sio wanted someone to believe in him, nam soon should have understood she could make him turn around,get pavel caught and choose her over his life of crime. Hwa jaa wasn't forced to be an unaliver but ryu sio was forced to be a drug lord bc he was raised to be one. When nam soon says one of them has to die, how can she want him to die when she knows about his childhood. why did she act all shocked and sad when he unalived himself when she was helping him get unalived, did she just want the cops to kill him then?
To me nam soon is the real villain of this series. She was the death of him when she could be the life of him.

This show should be named Sad Life of Ryu Shi Oh honestly. As he is the only character that is written with some personality and story.

i really wanted to forget ryusion now viewers have lot of expectations on byeon ,hope he get a good main lead role this man deserved somuch respect ,he brought somuch viewership with such a pity role is not something anyone could achieve .i lost respect on this drama i hated writers but i have huge respect on byeon woosik for his talent and aura screen presence .i really had never loved a kdrama actor this much in my entire life
@@deepthinker1710 I understand that he was a loved antagonist but that was the most expected end once you’re affiliated to mafia no matter what happens you only get out when you die even if he would have saved him and put him in jail which was the other possible end giving him the chance to relive he would have been killed by mafia in the jail . He became what he experienced and killed a lot of people in the process , thinking that he could have been saved or given another chance was absurd because for whatever reason even if he was very pitiful he killed people and innocent ones too in his way the story had alot of loopholes and could have been better but I think Ryu shi oh got the most sensible end. Gang Nam soon crying was also the same thing even though she hated him which made sense since he tried to kill her family she still had empathy as a human there relation was beautiful but should have had more depth and should have showed that she also cared and felt pity for him as a person then her crying would’ve looked a very beautiful ending i.e cared but too late to protect . The main leads were the worst chemistry like why were they even together her mother had more chemistry with her dad main couple made me laugh and feel uncomfortable I just skipped them and grandma relation was just as cringy no need to add that . None of the other characters were given any importance and were just empty even Gang Nam Soon didn’t have much of a personality. Whole thing felt empty. Even thing the Bread Song being Nozh made sense because these people are usually this well hidden last scene depicted how cruel he was but rest was just senseless most of the time . Most of characters felt extra only Ryu Shi Oh felt like an actual character the show should be named after him only

This drama could've been one of the most beautiful drama in the kdrama history .They had so much potential to make them enemies to lovers.Both of them are working together to bring down pavel & at the end Si-O shines as a real light.It's more meaningful and show us how pure their love is.
It would have hurt but they could still have had the ending of Sio killing himself both to protect Namsoon and to atone for his sins. Instead he ends up dying uttering Pavels words 🙄
The enemies to lovers is cliche. However, they could have kept the trajectory as is & have him just grow into a better person.
Them being lovers would go nowhere & impossible.

This guy right here carried the whole show and made everybody else his supported actors...even after he died...his performance was still felt...he truly did a amazing job 👏 getting the audience to go on an emotional roller coaster ride which kept us wanting more ❤ to me that's a genuine actor.
The fact that if he wasn't abandoned by everyone, he wouldn't have become like this, he would've been a kind soul, living a normal life. But he wasn't given the chance at all, he didn't have a childhood. Society failed him again and again. My heart breaks for him.
Some people say he was only using her for her power, but throughout the whole story he never used her for anything. He never asked her to do anything for him, even when he asked her to kill the mom, it was only hypothetically. He had already arranged for someone to do the job. It was more like a test to see if she was on his side. She could show up and leave anytime she wanted. In fact, he was the one who offered her help, and even drove her home personally. He just wanted her by his side.

My heart literally broke for him… he loved her with all his heart… look at the sincerity in his eyes… that sweet boyish gaze and smile when he looked at her… there was no evil in it, just pure love. You could see his happiness reflecting in his face.
How could she fool him like this?! He was being all sincere and too blind to see her motives… that’s what emotions do with people… they distract us, cloud our perception and vision… and she hideously took advantage of his “weakness” for her! I know i keep repeating myself but i can’t stop saying it, Nam soon, you fake snake, how i wish you’d get a taste of your own medicine!…

The sad thing was to not give him even the benefit of those opening that he actually had, and that she actually heard. Like totally brushing off when he said he was going to fight against the mafia. And he expressed the wish to be a true light.
Otherwise I'd say that most rotten mafia people or dictators and other leaders of murderous systems have soft sides that so not give them full redemption. It's okay to use it to spy on them. Because keeping an image of themselves as really nice guys while killing off families and supposed or real enemies is what's keeping them up. Stalin and Mussolini and Hitler probably were really nice towards some people close to them. If Eva Braun had been a spy, it would still have been awesome - and she could maybe have saved a lot of lives.
But Nam-soon could have said "I didn't mean it when I said I would kill for you, but I meant it when I said you could choose to be a light". that would have made all the difference for him.
He needed proper revenge on Namsoon. She betrayed him badly and had no shame at all. No pity, nothing

I had so much expectation that he would just change at the end and stop being the villain, but his death stunned me.
That character really wanted to fulfil your wish and gave Nam-soon many chances, at least to say that it wasn't *all* a lie, just some of it.
The only one giving him an inch of a chance was Binbin, by not killing him. And he knew he could give him the gun and walk out alive.
All I know after the ending is that Ryu Shi-oh was the only character who carried the show till last. I'm very disappointed with the last episode, the producers didn't have to kill off Ryu Shi-oh. Namsoon also could have changed the course of his illegal actions by giving him good advice and supporting him.. I only liked Ryu Shi-oh and his chemistry with Namsoon in this whole drama... *He deserved better😢*

What I personally did not like, was that Nam Soon used her bubbly eccentric personality to deceive Ryu Si-o. She didn’t even try to adopt a different persona for her undercover role like a spy would. Maybe that made her a better spy, but the overly done personality turned me off quickly when she was also that way with the cop boyfriend. For a Character that was written to come across genuine with authenticity as her charm, she’s a immature disingenuous self absorbed fake with zero conscience betraying her friend like that. She had no right to cry for Ryu Si-o or be all pikachu’d faced about his ending. 😤

The reason I rooted for shi oh day 1 till his death even after all the ruthless crimes he did isn’t because of his good looks. The reason why I couldn’t give a damn crap about the ml or any other characters. starting from the cringe grandma romance,weak uncle , brother fat ashamed by his own mother only to be told later it’s okay to eat as much you want . The script would’ve made so much more sense if they teamed up to defeat pavel. Instead what did we get? His death which means nothing to pavel , it’s not like without him their drug empire would crumble. Just another discarded lackey. He literally showed his full self to her . Told her about pavel, how they’re forcing him to do the drug business, how he wants to be free from them and explained his business is the antidote one , how he was raised cruelly by the mafia. And he was abandoned by his parents yet he tracked them down, and after finding his father who abaabandoned him, instead of killing him which he would’ve done if he was that monstrous,heartless villain. He took good care of his dad silently, opened a shop for him so that he can live comfortably. Then he was betrayed by the onne woman he loved and even his only friend came to kill him so he choose to die 💔

He is a type of guy who protects his loved one even at the cost of his life and kills whoever betrays even if it is his loved one. ❤️❤️❤️
This guy had such a rough life.. he’d never been shown kindness or love. Yet he tracked down his father who abandoned him and set up a shop for him. He tried to free his friend along with himself… you see bits of the person he could have become when he’s with Nam Soon, he’s caring and sweet and easily gave his love to her… even as he was burning the world around him.
I loved this character- not just a bad guy but a flawed person who I felt bad for at the end of the show… I agree, he completely carried he show, can’t wait to see more of him in the future… 👏👏👏
2:00 It was this moment that I somewhat started disliking Namsoon's character more than the villain's. When he asked which type of light he was, she wasn't even honest with her answer and internally plotted about what answer could manipulate him more and make him trust her. I understand that she needed the information to help the police and was furious that he tried to murder her mother but leading someone on when they are actually opening up to you is equally inhumane.
For me, Si-oh has my heart.

I feel like if she stayed and believed in him, eventually he would've tried and changed himself for the better side of life he never saw. He said it himself, that he was interested.
It could've even led him to choose a life without the illegal business he does. They could've lived nicely under the rader, away from Pavel and his past.

What a waste! He was the only reason people watched! Yes he was a villain but he was a lovable villain that everybody wanted to get a happy ending!!! The fl was completely heartless and lowkey a villain too! She knew of his painful past and knew he opened his heart to her and she still did what she did! She will have to live with that moment for the rest of her life. The show was completely over the season he died! Who cares about the other characters!!! The writers should have knew this!!! He was too handsome/ lovable to kill off! Villains like him should get their own show! Not all villains needs to die or go to jail!

When he ask her if it was all a lie and she replied yes really broke me 😢 I could tell by his eyes and smilee how sad he was .at last we could feel he sacrifice himself for her ❤ he's such game changer trully he was meant to be an antagonist but he brainwash us all by confusing who is an actual protagonist. If villain were this good I don't mind have it at least twice 😁
I expected that this would be a super hero fantasy but it turned out to be cheap cartoon characters. The mom especially was irritating. The grandmother character didn’t need her own storyline. Even the police characters were incompetent and depended on Nam Soon.
The stellar character here was Ryu Si Oh. His back story is so heartbreaking as he was an innocent little boy suffering to survive along with his friend Bin Bin. This horrific upbringing made Si Oh realize that power was the key to independent survival away from the Russian mafia. Although Si Oh committed heinous acts of violence and killing, deep down he still had an innocent soul and a longing to be loved. This is what the writers revealed to the audience. He bought the site of the orphanage and turned it to a boxing training center, he secretly supported his father’s business, he created an antidote for the horrible drug that the mafia made him produce. In the finale episode where Ryu Si Oh dies, I wanted to slap Nam Soon as she cried crocodile tears.
Byeon Woo Seok did an amazing job portraying this complex character. The gamut of emotions he acted was so convincing. Besides that, he also spoke Russian. No wonder so many of us love this actor!
I hated the last episode. Anytime ‘suicide’ is portrayed as a way out and this depicted it to be honorable to top it off. Writers and producers should be ashamed to have their names listed.

I hate how they ended him. All he wanted was for one person to treat him like a human being. He was raised in such an awful way too. And that one person betrayed him making him take decisions for the worst. He wanted revenge on his traitor because he was hurt. "Villain's are not born they are created."

turns out the real villain in the story is the main character herself.
He just needed to trust and love, he didn’t have it from parents he lost. My parents are alive but I was neglected for different reasons- first they were fighting each other all the time secondly I had congenital deformity in my legs and I was burned in my face- so I was a shame for them because they believed I am so ugly and full of flaws- so they neglected me and abused me physically and allowed 2 male siblings to abuse me. i was like a maid in my parents house, me and my older sister. i was able to escape from them very very far as i used studying abroad as an excuse. Guess what, i still till now feel the cold i experienced when i was hiding outside the house so i don't get beaten, i still smell and feel all the pain -and i never felt safe no matter what- i have 0 trust in people especially men. i have never experienced what would be like being loved and what serenity and trust is. that guy he has a destroyed heart into sharp pieces wounding him everyday and he just wanted to feel those feelings (love and trust) with her -he turns into kid when he is around her. indeed, people who their parents betrayed them have little faith in a lot of things, hate lies and life worth nothing for them- they would rather be dead than to allow another one humiliate them again- indeed, we like to die with dignity, will do it without a fraction of second of hesitation 😭😭😭😭

It's another year ending with ktrauma 😢. It's not a happy ending for me not at all .I knew that they will never be together in this drama but I was not expecting that he'll die like that💔. His character was like they can turn him in to a good person but kdrama writers just want us to suffer 🥺.

In fact, I was hoping that Shi o and Nam Soo would end up together. They had a lot chemistry between them than the other guy. For once, I cried when a vilain died😢. Honestly, I don't blame his behavior,. Since his childhood, he has only known violence. Like he said at the end, he was betrayed by all people he tought loved him😢. That made so sad and I think that deep down Nam Soo had feeling for him too.
He is so lonely and wants someone whom he can rely on If Namoon really tries to make him a true light then he will change himself for her but Namoon never tries to understand his heart 💔
She only did after his death,,,why does it always have to happen like that . Why not when the person is still alive😭😭
I just CAN'T get over them, their story seems unfinished!!😢💔💔
Ryu Si-o indeed is indeed the villain character that was created after what he had been through, which is very main character content! He's living in the dark and then he saw tsetseg as potential subordinate for his agenda HOWEVER he fell for him, he saw light in her BUT TURN OUT she betrayed him. His story life made us watchers sympathise him more and slowly make me personally dislike namsoon, i was drawn into her bright character but dang her character look like a programmed robot. The writer indeed fumbled on character development and how Ryu Si-o can have his redemption at the end, tsetseg with more understanding personality, i guess cuz ryu si-o wasn't supposed to be male lead, the FL ML just have to be a thing or whatever. It was such painful episodes indeed.
Byeon Wooseok is indeed a very good looking actor but how he made his character story alive is what impressed me , his acting with his eyes showing the pain he experienced getting betrayed by the one he trusted. Like i knew he couldn't have any win options with how the writer made namsoon act robotic like that
The reason that i was genuinely disappointed and ryu did deserve better and it shows the chemistry of the characters and the preparation of actors
The way they just glossed over his death. Excuse me. Namsoon should have held his funeral. She owed him that much
And so this story came to an end..

To honesty no one was born a villain i really didn't nam soon to betrayal him but she did instead of helping him at least to have an honest friend and he really trusted her and opened up to her....i really missed him in the last 30 min when he died 😢😢 good work my hot villain 👊

She should have felt his sadness and loneliness. If no t lovers they could have been atleast friends helping each other out. I mean I know what he did was not right. But still he had that life. He also wanted to escape from it....to free himself. In the end it was all betrayal from the only person he trusted the most!!!😭😭😭😭if this was the ending planned they should have made him a bit more bad 😢😢😢😢Gosh!!!!! I mean why was Nam soon so cold hearted towards him!!!!None but her knew so much about him!!!If nothing he should have been given a second chance. Or if not that as well, she should have fought with him from the front. Not like a backstabber😤😤😡😡😭😭😭

The series I couldn’t really understand the plot but then when we met si-o like oh my goodness I love him. I love the character maybe like imagining some type of like mafia like bad thing bad guy thing and then since he was like, he’s very sweet to her yeah he’s a bad person. They can relate themselves with their traumas and all that which I do like the policeman but like sometimes he’s very cringe and I know that also wasn’t being completely faithful with what she was saying, but she like there were scenes and moments were Were being true one to another. He opened about everything absolutely everything and I really like that and also like when she said like oh yeah I came here to the married a Korean man. It was so funny because he’s Korean, but at the same time he was raised in Russia, and her is Korean, but she was raised in Mongolia so basically they’re both Korean, but the same thing nope , which is pretty funny and I really like that That they wouldn’t have any pictures of Nan soon because it would’ve been so much beautiful. I would love this that way and I love the actor also from lovely runner but I love him more as villain
