- This is another video from the National Archives that I supplement with relevant comments and maps. This is the first video on the fighting around St. Vith, which, like Bastogne, was a critical road junction. It includes some fascinating commentary from both the Americans and Germans.
This series should be required viewing in High School today.
My mother was an Army nurse in the ETO. Was shipped in early 1943 in to England. She was part of the medical detachment of the 3rd Army during the Bulge. She said frostbite of the soldiers feet was a huge issue. Some boys lost their feet. Wounds were bad enough but frostbite took a huge toll of American Troopers.
Thanks for producing these fascinating masterpieces.
Thanks DM, for another engaging episode. All that archive footage is good to see, as are the later retrospective accounts from the commanders involved.
thanks
My two uncle's were in the 82nd and 101st airborne fighting in th Bulge, Jesse 101st moved to the South and married his buddies sister who died in fighting there! They both had only minor injuries! They were Antifa, fighting fascist dictators! 🙏 RIP
