- Come bale some hay with my old new Holland 68 square baler. There’s a few hiccups and we have to go for the back up baler, which is just as old but we get the job done in the end.
If you’re new here I’m the classic farmer and I’m on a mission to show you, that you can start a farm using old machinery which will make a profit. #farmlife #tractor #agriculture #farmer #hay #homestead
Good job well done 👍 times like these when you know who your real friends are 👌
@@bobpaterson1845 cheers there’s not many that will come to the field anymore but those that come are invaluable
I helped make a lot of hay in my day, that is the most bales from one field I have ever seen.
biggest ive ever dealt with as well over 250 bales per acre
The old 68 was a popular machine here as well. As for using old machines, thats how farmers of the past survived! It's just the past generation that can't live with out new iron. But in the long run they cannot afford that luxury anymore. When my grand parents farmed, they took years to get the equipment they had, and used it mostly for their whole life, that way they didn't need to farm the whole county just to pay for the new paint and break even! I think we'll need to get back to that practice for independant farming to survive the next generations. This Corporate ag and the greed that goes with it is unsustainable in the long term.
completely agree i was always told theres no money in farming it just turns out alot of people are doing it wrong.
Well done getting the hay finished we didn't get any made weather was too unsettled here in co down
Cheers i was driving home through co down on my way to bale this and the weather that day and me worried but when i got home it was still holding up
The hay looks good and thick
It was a really heavy crop
Good going from the old 68. 👍🏻
id say the 68 is probably one of the most reliable new holland balers
I was working whe I was young with the same Mew Holland press.🎉
New
good old newholland 68 super hayliner @ 60 bumps a min they bale perfect . looks about 200 bales to the acre
It was a heavy crop 1000 bales off 4 acres. The 68 handled it well
In case you havent looked Our own 68 was dropping knots the odd time this year turned out it was the spring under one of the knotters broke still knotted most of the time without it though so threw me off for long enough.
cheers for that ill keep any eye in the future for it happening. I traced the problem down this year to the split pins holding the stripper arms up being worn. So the arms were not clearing the knots ad we were getting build ups.
Don't forget to put the rope klossen in the back.😅
Another old New Holland 68 from the 1950's still out there chomping down the windrows.
The 68 baler may well still be chomping windrows when ive stopped chomping myself
Sometimes a breaking bolts it's normal. 😅
Very heavy crop and not a low enough gear in the tractor this was 250 bales to the acrew
How much is the diesel at pump
@@6thcence897 €1.10 a litre
