- This is how the meeting with Araj Oblodra plays out if you talk to her after the other variant of Astarion's act 2 romance scene has already happened.
Not a lot of difference, but do you need an excuse to watch Astarion-related content? I didn't think so. :)
Note: Astarion is already at 100 approval here, which is why his approval messages aren't showing up.
Astarion: Excuse me, you WANT to be bitten?
Tav/DU that lets Astarion bite them and literally has an option to offer their neck during the sex scene: Yeah, what kind of sick individual would like such a thing?
I can just imagine Tav clearing their throat a bit, and looking away shyly during this conversation 😅
Astarion has lines where you have not been in a romantic relationship after Araj, where he says that there is nothing more desirable in the world than vampires and that everyone wants only to have sex with them and sexualize blood hunger, and that he has never received a drop of attention (bliss) and pleasure from these people and from having sex with them. And that it disgusts him. it is disgusting for him to drink blood and having this hunger. His two main wishes are being in the sun and not having this blood hunger. (He is really happy about it after completing the ritual).
And a few other different lines in different places, confirming it.
It’s also curious that after the bite scene he approves only to drink the blood of villains, and not suggesting to feed on Tav. If Tav suggest to drink from them, his answer of course it is entire reasonable (but not approve points). But in the sex scene tav can get approve points from suggesting blood. Weird.
Maybe that’s why if Astarion completes the ritual, he really believes that Tav likes to obey and disgrace (that’s what the narrator says), and if Tav dump him he’ll say he never thought that there is it in Tav, well, that is, it forms a full picture and a history of such relationships. Without the ritual there’s no such option about checking thoughts and drinking blood though.
P.s. So perhaps someone who offers their blood every night - really sick - according to Astarion opinion

@@katiatall I don't think he has a problem with MC offering him blood. IMHO, for Astarion, the most important point is to be seen as a person rather than a sex toy. He'll even tell MC in the "spawn" version of the romance that he finally feels safe and seen, and that's why he is willing and even eager to try sex again. Being regarded as a "sexy vampire" is not being seen as a person, and that's what's repulsive to him, not the biting itself, just like sex by itself is not a problem, it's being USED for sex with no regard to his own feelings.
IMHO, in "ascended" route he actually truly believes that MC is reducing him to the "sexy vampire" trope again, and that's where "ok, they like to be degraded, guess it's time to play the sexy Dom part, here we go again" comes from. He is much more theatrical in the personal interactions with MC and much more obsessive and possessive in the "outside" interactions because he both believes that this is what MC wants, to be claimed, and also he is much more afraid that if he is not that perfect all-powerful fantasy vampire, MC will leave. That is also, IMHO, why he is showing respect to the MC that suddenly tells him "Nope, I didn't sign up for this, we are breaking up" before they become a spawn, because while ok, yes, they've just broken up, he is actually seen as a person here, and not a sex toy, and he can finally stop playing up the part to please others and finally try to figure out who HE is.

It's a shame there won't be a scene after this conversation, if there's already been a confession of feelings, I'd like both scenes, because in the first one, he confesses, and in the second one we learn more about his history and that he finally realizes he's not a slave anymore.
And you can agree to a potion here, there's no breakup if there's already been a confession scene, which is weird too
That's how Larian made the game so replayable -- you can't have everything at once. I played through the game twice, about to finish a third game, and I still keep discovering things I missed or did a different way before. I like it.

You can still get a confession from him after the potion scene. If you ask him why he slept with you, he says he did it for protection, and then says, "so imagine how stupid I felt when I started to fall for you" or something to that effect.
@@sionan7937that’s true but if you already got the sweet confession after killing Yurgir, there’s no confession scene after meeting Araj. it only happens once. that’s what OP meant.
I still love watching how he glares at her with the side eye the ENTIRE TIME like I FELT that.
So no difference at all from how this scene unfolds without the Act 2 romance scene.

The only bad part of this cutscene is the fact that they don't step away from Araj when he wants to tell Tav that her blood smells awful.
Or perhaps it is on purpose, but it feels like it was supposed to be a private conversation which it doesn't feel like when she can literally see him and hear him

No, it's definitely on purpose. The excuse me for a minute and then saying there is purposefully savage
She was disrespecting and objectifying him the entire time, calling him a possession and that it’s adorable that he thinks he’s a real person. Astarion definitely did it in front of her on purpose because she can fuck herself as far as he’s concerned.
And then she smirks the whole time because she doesn’t give a fuck if he finds her blood disgusting or not, she doesn’t value his opinion in the slightest. She will still take what she wants. Some very rape-ish vibes, which I think is what they were going for. Really chilling scene, the devs did an amazing job on the subtle storytelling and the characters’ interactions.

He's a drow storm sorcerer and overall a very nice guy... with some dark urges.

It would have been interesting if Tav said something like "I don't own him, he's mine and I'm his" or something like that, something different because this is exactly the same as before the confession xD

This is actually the exact same dialogue as before his romance scene. The only difference is the drow dialogue, since other races don't have that option.
So if Tav is spawned by Ascended Astarion, does she ask TAV to bite her?

thats A3 and iirc you cant go back, and even if you could by course of completing act 2 she is likely deceased or well..moved on to new locales.
@@MrLaz0rz She appears in Act 3 tho, in the Lower City. You can see her after finishing Astarion's quest, although i'm pretty sure there isn't more dialogue if Tav becomes a vampire sadly.
@@SaradoraGameTech the dialogue is different there if Astarion ascended, and also if he turned Tav. Spawn Astarion is very protective in that conversation. Ascended Astarion is very..... *possessive*, and even more so if Tav is his spawn.

Kinda funny i choose the "do what you want but we could use the potion" from RP pov because you trust astarion to choose for himself but nah
(Also partly because i play drow pally and i could use that +2 strenght permabuff)
The whole point of the scene with Araj is that Astarion is a survivor of abuse who had zero bodily autonomy for two hundred years. He hasn't told you he doesn't know how to say no when pressured, because he didn't realize it himself, but you had plenty of clues at that point that his respecting his autonomy is kind of a big deal. If you respect Astarion's wishes, you back off; if you don't, you pressure him into doing something he hates.
I played a paladin in my first game, too, FWIW. Wasn't even tempted to pressure him into accepting Araj's offer RP-wise. A small power increase for my companion's explicitly expressed discomfort? No thanks.
he even says after this meeting that he didn’t even realize that he thought he was a slave even on the freedom, which is no wonder, 200 years!! he had no autonomy whatsoever from the word
@@matawrites Yes that is the point of the scene but not at all the point of their comment. "It's up to you" still gives him the final say in the matter. As the player behind the character we might know he can't decline after that line but our Tav might not. My sorcerer was quick to say no but my emotionally stunted paladin left it up to him and still had a pretty sweet moment after. There is no right or wrong way to RP your characters.

Wait, I thought Araj is the one thing that would trigger the act 2 romance scene? How did u get it without talking to her?
It's not! :) The romance scene can trigger two ways. Both require resolving the deal with Raphael, but then you have two options.
One scene, the better known one, triggers during a long rest after talking to Araj with Astarion present and not forcing him to drink her blood.
The other variant triggers after visiting Moonrise and witnessing the scene with Ketheric, then long resting before talking to Araj (or after talking to her without Astarion present). Here, I uploaded it for you :) ua-cam.com/video/fsCvdOzuOJs/v-deo.html
First scene triggers after Araj - get potion or not (provoked scene)
Second - high approval and Orthon is killed (unprovoked)
There should really be a follow up scene in this version of the romance. I haven’t reached that in my game yet but from what I’ve seen on UA-cam, there isn’t any follow up in this version of the romance route regardless of if he bites her or not. Seems like a wasted opportunity. There’s so many possibilities there, there’s simply being his good partner and having his back but there’s also the chance for relationship faux pas on both sides.
The “it’s up to you but we could use that potion option” sounds like you’re making it his choice albeit inattentively and we all know if he bites her he misjudged how he’d react. It could be interpreted as a misunderstanding instead of pressuring him. Some of the options in the pre-confession version don’t make him angry at us and we can apologise, we could easily talk him through it as his partner and either help him feel better or get dumped.

Okay so i never got a romance scene with Astarion in Act 2 and im already in Act 3. Did i miss something?
The one I got triggers after beating the orthon (persuasion or outright combat works, player’s choice), then long resting.

The scene is exactly the same as if there was no confession... everyone would expect there to be something new/different, but nop... such a click bait... so disappointing...
