    In USA we can occasionally get fresh garbanzos (chickpeas) at the Latin/Mexican markets. The beans have a flavor and texture similar to edamame. The pods are thinner and shorter (one or two beans per pod.). Tip: Steam the garbanzos in the microwave in a covered dish with a SMALL amount of water. If you boil them, then hot liquid squirts out when you are eating them. We eat them with lime/chili/salt.

    maybe this is a dumb comment but why do you not shell the beans before adding the sauce/salt? Why are you saucing/salting the outer shell that gets discarded? Or does the shell get discarded?

    So you put salt and sauce on the outside of the Edamame? How does the taste transfer to the part which you actaully eat? By your finger or does it transfrer through the membrane? I mean, you just eat the beans inside.

    about a week ago this girl in my french class was eating some edamame for a snack. then this girl wanted some, but she'd never actually eaten one before and didn't know how to get the little bean seed thingies out and dropped about two whole pods on the floor. so the guy sitting behind her had to guide her hands so she could learn how to push them out them properly...

      Lovelybrown: I occasionally grow soy (edamame) in my garden and I can assure you that all soy pods are nasty, whether they’re cooked, frozen or raw. Ruminants, however, can digest them in a special section of their stomach used for fermentation, so if you happen to have a cow or a moose nearby, it will be happy to have them. Otherwise, just pop out the little peas inside, usually 2 or 3, and toss the rest in the garbage...or the garden.

    I wish he’d stop saying edamame like it’s one syllable.

      hes actually saying it fine.. it's not natural to actually pause between syllables, he is pronouncing them.

      Ben Willms: Edamame is soybean in the pod and like all legumes is a member of the “pea” family fabaceae. Since the terms “pea” and “bean” have no real significance botanically, you can call it anything you like. The term “edamame” is more of a marketing or perhaps vogue term to sell a product that is mostly inedible.

    Sounds delicious but...are you really salting your soy sauce?? Why?

    • @MakeSushi1
      @MakeSushi1  6 років тому +2

      because mirin (sweet Japanese rice wine) is very sweet, just adding a pinch of salt balances that out.
