I saw Denholm Elliott in this before seeing him anywhere else when I was ten. So when I saw him as a butler for Eddie Murphy in Trading Places many years later, I kept seeing Niccolo Polo.... Demoted :-)

There are parts of Western China and Central Asia where they still live like this. For them, time is frozen still. From 1:00 - 2:15: the camera crew likely passed by an actual village and the residents (mostly the children) ran alongside them since they had never seen foreigners before.
the italian version is so much better than the american-this version.the italian has many more scenes than the american,especially dyring the journey to china.

Just reading Lawrence Bergreen's book on Polo and how so many of his tales have been verified in modern times. Just an incredible journey...
