Came across this video as I was deciding what to eat for dinner. It was a very tough choice between cai png and ding tai feng. However, after hearing your experience in letting go and doing what you are passionate about, i decided to give in to my month-long desire of having xiao long baos at ding tai feng, notwithstanding that i will have to now eat grass for a week. 😢😢😢 Looking forward to more inspirational videos! 🎉
Man, im a fresh cs grad in tech and i find it still quite tough to cope, big ups for gathering the courage to take this step to pursue ur dream, its really something not many Singaporeans dare to do especially in this phase of life, wishing you the very best! Subscribed! :)
We didn't work closely together but have been seeing your videos on and off this past year, it's a really brave decision and hope you can find a niche/market for your UA-cam career, subscribed!
New subscriber. I really like shopee since it started, so I appreciate those who were part of its startup. Strangely as a loyal user I “worry” whether shopee will survive and maintain its standard too, hope it does
Seatalk-ed/Mattermost-ed you a little back when I was in Shopee and I completely relate to what you shared. You should be proud of your decision and all the best in this new journey of yours!!
I totally relate to how you feel about being more excited about UA-cam videos than your day job and feeling guilty about leaving your team - exactly what I'm feeling as well 🥹 Wishing you all the best on your UA-cam journey!
Ahhh...one of the earliest employee that's responsible for the many machinations in the e-commerce juggernaut. I'm happy that you chose to share with us your journey and why you decided to quit something you love. Your wife is a wise woman and you're a brave man for executing it. I can certainly relate to the frustration of losing freedom once the company grows bigger as it's an inevitable part of growth. Glad you found your passion here. Oh ya, thanks for also not going the generic route of creating food videos in Singapore. I like the variety especially the zoo and bird paradise itinerary. All the best! You are NOT indispensable at work, but you are to your family. The choices we make often are not our personal favorites. Once your 1st born arrives, many things will have to change or remain unchanged.
gotta give a huge support for actually working full time on yt with under 1k subs. You really made a tough decisio, hope you can start earn some profits off yt soon. Full support from me!
Did the same 3 years ago. Career is not everything. There are actually many other ways to earn money by staying at home. You just need to find out how and what. Good luck!
I totally feel what you are going through. I also dont want to work for someone for the rest of my life. I was hoping to get your perspective on how do you deal with loss of income while building up your youtube channel?
It was very difficult to accept the loss of income. On the practical level i prepared enough savings to sustain daily needs and obligations for a year+. On the morale side, my friend once told me “you try for a year and fail, you only lose one year. But if you try for a year and succeed, you win for life” hahahah
I resigned the sales job last year took a break to recover from the stressful job at the same time care for my elderly mother. It is not an easy journey
