I remember when I first started letting my beard grow out in 2014, a lot of my relatives (btw, they were all women) were telling me not to keep it for various reasons, mostly it looked "dirty", too "hipster", employers don't like it, etc. I laughed it off mostly, and didn't think much of it. Fast forward six years later to 2020, I have not shaved even once and I absolutely love my beard. I don't ever plan on shaving it off. It's become a part of me.

Usually the guys giving me shit about the beard is because they can’t grow one themselves
As I have gotten older my beard has gone greyer and, on the sides, white. So I get negative comments (and you are right, it is mostly from women in person) like I look like Santa or a garden gnome. I usually just laugh it off too - I grow a beard for me, not for other people, and I like having a beard.
My cousin when he used to work with me. He had a beard a little passed his chest. They kept calling him osama bin laden lol. And it never phased him. Always kept his head up high. ✊
That is a good way of looking at criticism especially from strangers.
Funny enough, the same women who will shame a man into shaving will also lose respect for him, because he actually followed her lead in the first place!

That really hits the spot as I have both long hair and a beard.
Got many negative comments from people - "you look homeless", "Jesus is that you?" "dude get haircut already you look shaggy af", even a woman telling me EXACTLY what you said about never kissing a guy with a beard.
But the interesting thing is, those who do compliment and give me positive comments are actually my closest friends, both women and men. It feels like they'd appreciate me no matter how I look, and they always help me deal with the negative ones.
Coincidence? I really don't think so.

People are just rude. Those same individuals would fall apart or become really ugly with others if someone made a negative comment about their appearance. They only time I would alter my appearance at someone else's request is if I really trusted that they had my best interest at heart.
I accidentally ended up on this video after watching one of your others. Interestingly I am older than you and have long hair (yes and a beard) and I would agree. Ladies are far more likely to out of the blue comment on or tell you what they feel about how you dress, have your hair or beard. It is just a thing. I am not counting the ones that like it or attracted that is different. Just speaking about the negative statements. If I ever respond I usually just say “so noted” I don’t need to fix their problems. and like you said appreciate that they are not anyone in my life. Interestingly as I apparently have nice hair (I don’t do much with it other than wash it) some of them are envious (I have had them say so) and I have actually had them ask if they can touch it. Which is weird. Just the humors of life.

Most of my co-workers have beards, an we are all positive to each other, even at the gym I pass out + compliments. Only negative was from my mother in law. Keep it up
My ex loved I had a long beard I trimmed it for summer and she hated I trimmed it. I'm lucky now my girlfriend now doesn't care how long my beard is she said "it's upto you it's your beard" witch is really nice.
can't tell you how many times I've wanted to do something to my current beard based on what family members have said

I’ve had so many women say crap like that to me. I always say, well good thing my wife loves it so... ✌️(My wife really does love it.) Listen to this man guys. If a woman doesn’t like something that’s important to you, like your beard, she’s not worth your time. New sub here, I like your videos. Keep it up!
Actually, that reminds me of a funny one a few years ago now that did kind of take me aback slightly. I was at a barbers and the young woman doing my shave said "I have a thing for guys with goatees and shaved heads" which is how I looked at the time. There was like a 5 second silence while we both digested what she'd said, and then I think she realised how it sounded and added "But not you though"..... I just nodded and tried to look cool (pretty unsuccessfully probably). Fairly awkward shave after that actually.

Because im greying and carrying some extra lb's i think the comment i get most is "Are you growing it for a xmas job?? Cos you look like Santa". Fortunately i gave up giving a "fuck" a few years ago about ppls perception of me and embraced my inner dude :)
I just don’t listen or pay attention to comments about my beard or bald head. Not relevant. No bodies business.
I’ve been too quick to snap back at a negative comment. But I see how the joking thing would work better. I especially like the prayer thing. Classic!

Life is about being able to suck it up. Standing tall through adversity. Develop tougher skin. It’s all part of life. We make choices for our reasons. We live with that. Now be good with that. People don’t know r care how great we care for our beards. They only know what they care about and think. Narcissism. Kids growing up are brutal to each other and as we grow to be adults and should know better, continue to be brutal to each other. It’s when you decide to be confident and disregard the banal base-ness of people. Peace.

My personal favourite is when I get called upside down head or "you're head is on upside down", as I have a bald head and beard. It's all good fun 👍
Had a similar incident with a server whom repeatedly put down my beard. When it came to time to pay the bill, I wrote on the tip line that my beard products cost way too much to tip someone as unprofessional such as you Madam.

the worst comments i ever received were from friends who have patchy beard that for this reason do not grow a beard i suppose it is the envy of my beard!!

Usually with men it's the opposite conversation and it's more annoying. First they compliment the beard or ask how long I've been growing it, and then they come out and say that they either used to have a beard like that or would like to grow a beard like that but their owner (wife, girlfriend, employer, etc) won't _let_ them.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Spouses should not have to think or feel that way about each other. I can't understand giving away agency I kind of wonder if that's secretly how they like it.
Hell, my beard is my makeup. I am not ashamed of the fact that my beard is a better line than my chin, for instance. I am amazed at the realization though. Especially when intentionally shaped.

I have a guess, as to why women would feel free to comment on your appearance.
Maybe cross gender comments on appearance have been normalized to them.
And also you might consider that the disappointed ones may have been attracted to you. Because they are...commenting on your appearance. As you said, for them.
It's funny you say that. I was telling one of my friends about this incident and he said the same thing. It's something I had not considered before.
What to do when your own wife does not like your beard.
Does she just not like beards or is it just the length or style. I would play around with it and try different shapes and lengths until you find a style you both like. She may think she doesn't like beards but her vision may be narrow on the subject. She may end up liking something else a lot.
@@GregBoswell428 i have a short beard. She does not like the way it feels when kissing. I would like to try a medium size beard. She does not want that.What helped was that i trimmed my mustache a little bit shorter above the lip. But she likes a short stubble look, not the feel of it. ;) so no kissing in 2021. :(

Yeah, it is a little uncanny, isn't it? As a man, I hadn't ever give my opinion (in a service aspect) unless it's a glowing one. It didn't bother me but it very well may have someone else.
This chick did that to me I was where you are at in growth it ate me cause my whole family would say you look old with that beard and it makes your face look dirty it was mostly guys in the family that had mustaches or shaved but this chick said it and I shaved it off later she said oh you shaved your beard off you look cute started talking to me but I was like fawk it I’m growing it out again until I achieve the goal I set and accomplish then maybe I’ll shave it again so I’ve started to let it grow back out and now she’s all ewww why are you letting your beard grow out again because I felt like it I tell her 🤣🤣crazy shit later she tells me you looked hot with your beard it made me jealous cause it attracts women 🤣🤣🤣 to all you guys out there listen to this guy he’s telling the truth do what ever the fawk you want and people will respect that others will hate that you can’t be hen pecked by society
