There's literally a giant red flag waving behind him but the PI cannot see through him to notice it. Visual symbolism is on point
Dude, good observation.
that look on Ripley's face when he realizes he is scott-free!
He just had to get rid of Peter Smith Kingsly!
Such great subtle acting.
I never understood why the discovery of Tom Ripley not being a student at Princeton did not set off red flags for the detective and for Mr. Greenleaf. Tom established that identity strongly with Mr. Greenleaf, so why does he get a pass on this lie? Also, what was the “understanding” that the detective spoke about?
Tom Ripley being a piano tuner at Princeton cemented the idea in the father’s head that Tom was a schoolmate of Dickie’s. Also Tom has knowledge of Dickie being a (framed) murder/suicide case and impregnating a woman that killed herself. They are willing to buy Tom’s silence over investigating further. Not like the dad liked Dickie that much anyway.
RIP, Philip Baker Hall - amazing performance.
Hoffman and Law were fantastic, maybe Hall too. But the others were a bit wooden.
Philip was quite a distinguished actor. I liked his delivery of the dialogue for this scene.
Poor Marge was right about Tom. How Meredith never caught Tom masquerading around Italy as Dickie is just too far fetched.
I walked away from this movie feeling that the PI and the father knew Ripley murdered Dickie, but because the father was concerned with his family name, and didn’t care too much for his son, they let Tom off as long as he kept his mouth shut
Extremely interesting theory
The Library Guy from Seinfeld!
I don't get it. Where do they think Dickey is? They surely don't realize he's dead. They think he is on the run after killing Freddy?
No they’re under the impression he committed suicide because of Tom’s forged suicide letter
He can’t keep getting away with it.
Hank Schrader will get him
@@MensaGiraffebreaking bisexual serial killer
@@acmartialarts2227 LOL!
He can if he's Sam Hyde
@@omegamanGXE Sam Hyde is a hack
Yes, but did Tom have any overdue library books? "Punks like you, that's my problem! And you'd better not screw up again Seinfeld."
It’s Bookman from Seinfeld!
That's like an ice cream man named Cone!
I love this scene!
Library Cop !
Seinfeld bookman ,ahh that's where 😂.)
Notice how Damon’s hair changes from unkempt to smoothly combed halfway through. Continuity editing error
It was written by a depressed lesbian antisemite
I thought it was on purpose as Tom “morphed” into Dickie.
This is karma...
Doesn’t he have to get rid of Marge (I mean
Meredith) as well? I mean she is more Danger to him then Peter.
naw, the men just write her off as a hysterical woman, who doesn't want to believe bad about Dickie
@@ennuiblue4295 I meant Meredith
I haven't watch this movie..I read comment and youtuber talking about this movie.
You should watch it. It’s confusing, but it’s pretty good.
