    I have to admit that I was wondering if Italians actually thought preoccupied when using that word instead of worried. Now I know.
    Language is a difficult thing to really KNOW. I mean, what thoughts and concepts form in the native speakers mind, do they match what I think when I learn a word? I don't know why I even think of these things. I am basically learning just to amuse myself.
    You have a wonderfully kind nature. It comes out in what you say. I felt my heart smile when you said that you hoped that we wouldn't need these negative words. What a wonderful way to be.

      Benvenuta, Janice! You are not alone in your experience. You have not idea how many of my students had the same. But it's never too late to learn! I haven't made a UA-cam video on the Italian "r" yet, but I do have two dedicated classes on the topic (plus all other sounds of the Italian language) in my online course "Italian 101", here's the link if you want to check it out: www.valentinastellatutor.com/how-to-enroll-in-the-italian-course-101/

    Is bonta used for taste only? Also, I just switched on Italian subtitles on "The Chosen." The word used for scared was "paura" how is it different from "spaventato"?

    • @preparados1917
      @preparados1917 6 місяців тому

      I think they express the same, fear. Paura is used with the verb avere, e.g. Ho paura. Spaventato is used with the verb essere, e.g. Sono spaventato. At least that is what I think with my very, very, beginning Italian.

    • @ItalianTeacherValentina
      @ItalianTeacherValentina  6 місяців тому +2

      Yes, that's correct! "Paura" is a noun, "spaventato" is an adjective. So "I have fear" vs "I am scared"

    • @ItalianTeacherValentina
      @ItalianTeacherValentina  6 місяців тому

      Johnny, do you mean "vengono" or "vergogno"? In both cases, yes, they are pretty similar. Just remember to slow down and pronounce each single letter (and especially vowels) slowly, this will reinforce the correct pronunciation and the differences between the two words.
