Being in the construction field I have found that vinyl siding starter channel works great. Dumpster dive when a siding crew is done and you have a few feet of FREE card holders..
I still have four of the older card displays that are built with the same concept but, the rails are held on with two-sided tape which have started to fall apart. I've been gluing them back together, as needed but, I like your idea better. If you're someone who rents a home(like me) you could build this design on something light, like pegboard and just hang the board. That way, if you move, you can just take the board(s) with you in one piece. Thank you for a great video!
I finally got around to watching some of your videos. Then did some research and found you are exactly 5 days older than me!. Your description of discovering Hot Wheels matches mine almost exactly. However, I only rediscovered the joy of collecting in 2017. Oh how I wish I had my original full 72-car case which I gave my brother! All original Redlines and Johnny Lightnings from 1968-1972! I think he either burned or blew all of them up.
We older guys are all trying to buy back our childhood Carl! I found out that my cousins got the bulk of my collection after my parents split. My cousin Jimmy told me a few years ago! It's fun hunting for them though. I love it and I get to make new friends at the same time! Good luck!
It all depends on how hard you push them together. I have a few with a small curl at the bottom from pushing against the blister above it. It doesn't matter to me if my cards are super mint...Many of the rare stuff is hard to find to begin with let alone finding it on a mint card. I just want to display them in order. If you're afraid of messing up the card a little, I would just leave your stuff in a protecto.
Thank You for the great idea and video. Not only do I want to do this for my hot wheels but do this for my Star Wars carded figure collection as well!!!!
Will be glad too. I also promoted your channel to alot of my friends who collect hot wheels and or action figures . YOU deserve the credit for this so it was sent to any and all collectors I know. Will be going to some comicon and hot wheels shows this year and will send more people to your channel.
That's great information man! I'm building a pallet wood wall for my fastly growing HW collection. Your trick will work great!!! Highly appreciate you sharing!! Your the HW BOSS.
25 in each column and 13 rows; you can fit 325 carded cars there. You have some that go above the 25 in the column but wow that’s a great idea! I will definitely start that this weekend!
i got some original plastic divider frames , i built a few of my own using luan plywood n those divider strips, i used construction adhesive on my strips to hold them to the board , 3 hangars is all it needed to hold them
Now that's funny,I had did the same exact thing before watching this video,I use to hang FRP,so when I was thinking of something to use to hang mine, first thing I thought of was the frp strips, light weight and perfect size for cards to fit in......works great!!
great idea..tired of hammering nails..tacs...rivets...yes i said rivets..anything i can find to display our HotWheels..Thanks for the descriptive and visual video..hopefully when we get done itll look as good as yours...Thanks...Andrew
Cool, believe it or not I was just wondering if there was a way to do something like that. Thanks for sharing the details of making it. We'll be watching for the TV show too.
Thank you for telling us what the pieces are actually called. All the videos I've seen say "buy these plastic strips at Home depot". Also, has anyone told you that you sound like Joe Pesci? Lol.
Hey brother how you doing ? I love your work.Awsome ! I sent you a link down below.Since you enjoy building thing's.Dude made an awesome HOT WHEEL'S display sign from wood.
We did the same thing to display our sports carts (in hard holders). they were the same size tall as Hot Wheel backer boards were wide. We used a track similar to yours but got it from a guy who installed vinyl siding.
Very nice way to put all my disney pixar cars on the wall! Now i just need recommendations on how to place something in front of them to keep the dust from collecting. I'm thinking of a way to mount something like plexi glass in front of them and edges too so it will be enclosed. I think I'll attach the plexi glass to some pieces sticking out from the wall ever so often and divide the plexi glass when i need to. I just now thought of that idea. I had mine on the wall hanging on push pins but the tops of the cars got a layer of dust on them so I have to find a way to seal them. Maybe there is some other way. If anyone reads this and has an idea of how to enclose them please let me know. I will continue thinking of a way to do so. Anything can be done with today. I seen a video a minute ago and the guy said ceiling strips. I can't wait to get all mine back on the wall! I had to box up all mine to protect them. Good video. 👍
I just put push pins at the bottom of each row two of them pulls and just fine that way you can always take them out if you want to get some cards out from the bottom can you stew sided set you two sided tape five little pieces of his cards no problem
How damage do the edges of the original blister pack get? Sliding them down or back up again to remove them. It didn't seem as if you had them in an extra storage case for protection. Thanks.
I do collect other brand’s, but just the stuff that catches my attention. And yes, Hot Wheels stopped the First Edition series a while ago. There are many new castings in just about every new case, but they don’t call them First Edition.
Nice way to display your vehicles, however, with present day cards, the artwork on each card is representative of the vehicle in the blister and by using this method, you don't get to see each card's artwork. Ah, the downside to collecting. With owning so many vehicles, you have to sacrifice something.
I showed this to my wife and she might actually go for it. thank you, thank you, thank you.
Good luck! Maybe she can help?

I've been wondering how to hang my collection on the wall and now PERFECT! Thanks!!
Probably one of the best example videos on how to display using the double sided tracks I've seen on you tube.
Why am I just now seeing this video? GREAT IDEA!!! I am so going to be doing this in my next Hot Wheels room!! Thanks Mike!!
You are very welcome!
Great learnings .............. Thanks for the video dear friend............
Thank you and you are very welcome!

Yes, there are a few ways you can get around it. Thanx for the ideas!

Thanks for the advice
I really wish they had standardized all 1/64 cards, or is there a way to mix main lines with premium or majorette using those dividers?
You just have to go by the card width that you set it at..Hot Wheels in one row, Majorette in another and so on... You set the width.
Cool idea....with so many cars does the bottom car get damaged at all from the weight of all the cars above it....thanks

Yes! It works for anything carded! Have fun and send me some pic's!

What would be cool if you got it looking like a hot wheel flame in color or out lined. That would take more time any way.
Thanks for the idea Mike! I will have to give it a try.
Marc Sheroan me and my 7 year old son collect Hot Wheels

Cool, believe it or not I was just wondering if there was a way to do something like that. Thanks for sharing the details of making it. We'll be watching for the TV show too.
Very cool way to display !! I to have done this and starting another wall !!!
Nice concept, I have the same thing but I noticed some damage on the cards lower down due to the weight. Any solutions?
Not really... making them not so tall will alleviate some of the weight.
Thank you for telling us what the pieces are actually called. All the videos I've seen say "buy these plastic strips at Home depot". Also, has anyone told you that you sound like Joe Pesci? Lol.
Yes.... LOL Glad ya liked the video.
I was thinking in my head about who he sounded like and couldn’t think of the name, then I scroll down and boom 💥 lol
Ty this was helpful
Glad you liked it! Thanx for watching!
Dude. You're amazing for sharing this. Thank you so much!
Welcome! Thanx for watching!

Great tutorial Mike.
Did your book you mentioned in this video ever come out or are you still working on it? Thanks for all the great info and videos you put out!!
I don't remember which book that was..? I've done quite a few.

hi! have you found a better way or does this still hold up?
After 20 years... this is the best I have found...
@@HotWheelsTV thanks for the reply! i appreciate it
How damage do the edges of the original blister pack get? Sliding them down or back up again to remove them. It didn't seem as if you had them in an extra storage case for protection. Thanks.
It all depends on how far or how hard you bring them down. Just be careful and look at them when you do it.
what is the name of that part. very good idea
Paneling divider.
Good suggestion. However, my staple gun isn't powerful enough to penetrate the wall panel moulding. I really don't want to tape this to the wall.
Get a new staple gun... they are cheap! I'm sure it will pay for itself on a few other projects you may have around the house!
Excellent video, thanks Mike =)
Nice
once I got ones from 1995 till now never openly birthday today September 11🎁🎉🎁🎁🎂🎂😇😇😇😇
(1) Do you collect other brands: Dub City? Kyosho?
(2) Did Hot Wheels stop with their First Editions? No more new cars each year?
I do collect other brand’s, but just the stuff that catches my attention. And yes, Hot Wheels stopped the First Edition series a while ago. There are many new castings in just about every new case, but they don’t call them First Edition.
Does this damage the card at all
Not if you are careful.
