@@DivaniKingston thing is that i have that car and i am a bit disappointed. devil in details.... i hate that this car uses battery a lot in IDLE mode, so if you leave your car for a week, you could find it with empty battery. other things are small details, but those details creates some disappointment. Like: HUD is cheap display, with standard polarization. so if you have polarized driving glasses - you will se NOTHING (because of double polarization all hud images will disappear). There is no glasses holder. No place where to keep phone. Car is big and not very stable on bumpy road. Not so good noise insulation. Have some design problems like wheel buttons stops working. Bar side mirrors design - water stays between door and mirror base and later gets out by creating some not nice lines on doors. also moldings on sides collecting dirt, and after washing later water with dirt gets out and car door bottom part looks not so nice.. some other nasty things with start/stop... you can disable it only for a trip. or maybe through driver profile. but it is annoying.
@@gytiskondratas467 you're saying a lot of stuff that doesn't really make sense. No HUD will work with polarized lenses because they all work on reflection. So reflections will be canceled out with polarized glasses... That is a nonsense complaint. I don't know what you're doing with the car for it to burn battery after you've parked it. Check your conditioner settings. you may have set it up to turn the HVAC on at a certain time of day and it does that every day for 20 minutes. Sounds like a lot of user error here. Glasses pockets? There's literally a drawer to the left (or right if you're right hand drive) of the steering wheel for glasses. I'm unsure what you're talking about. Unstable on rough roads is subjective. Volvo makes a safe car... Paramount safety is making sure you don't lose control in the first place. This car feels every bit BMW my actual BMW (E46) felt handling wise. Sure footed and agile with surprising turning radii. I don't know what car you bought but it's not this one.
Mom is going to buy it after the lockdown, it is a beautiful car. We tested the infotainment at an autoshow, it actually worked fine. not much lag at all. Much better infotainment than her 2013 Toyota highlander haha.
Really appreciate the video. Don't know the reason for the dislikes. Video is exclusively on the car, you tackled several of the features and drove the car. Don't know what more people want. Nice review and love this SUV!
Regarding the "sound shaping" issue that you mentioned, the audio system must have been set to the "Gothenburg Concert Hall" sound experience, something a few Volvo owners have expressed their concerns about. Problem is apparently solved by going into "Studio" or "Individual Stage" mode.
It does have 3D buildings it’s actually is one of the best navigation systems on the market except for the Google earth. Why don’t you try reading the owners manual before you jump in the vehicle and you try to swing it.
Re the maps ‘lack of detail/features’. If you connect your phone to the car, you can use Google/Apple maps, etc. My guess is the slowness of the interface was your connection speed. The wheel spin you got? The system has to detect wheel ‘slip’ before it starts to send power to the rear wheels (like many systems). So you will always get a small amount of slip first. Wit till you get the new generation of European cars with 1ltr 3 cylinder engines (with Supercharger and Turbocharger) - now being fitted to many cars that would have previously had 1.6-2.0ltr engines.
Not for the sake of being litigious, but honesty is not required when giving one's opinion. Further, how do you know he is being honest, he is offering his opinion, not fact. When speaking of the radar smart cruise control he prattles on about how we would "feel" about the feature. How the hell does he know what everyone would feel about anything? Is that honesty? No, that's opinion. Truth hurts and so does reading comments posted by a person who doesn't have a clear understanding of the difference between fact and opinion. After telling me how I would feel about the car at 42:18 he admits it's just his OPINION. I'll give you an example to help you learn. You think this guy did a great job reviewing the Volvo XC 90. (that is your opinion). Volvo engineers invented the seat belts for cars in 1959. (THAT is a fact).
Interesting that your relatively negative overview varies greatly from most others. By the way, the “autopilot” system is not meant to be hands off but rather an aid.
Forgive me if it was asked before but what did you use to film this? The POV is something that those who are doing what you did should be able to do. Your video was solid rock on. Keep doing what you do.
You have been driving this car but I am not sure why you do not have very good knowledge regarding all the systems of XC90 that is why you are getting upset. You will be good once you will know everything. It is a great car ever specially XC90 2016 and 2018. Take it is easy. Thank you!!
Totally agree. It's so silly that in a moving object you have to wait for a display to give you output, even at the end of 2017 there were 120+ hz LCD panels available to choose from. It's really a sad show that the car industry cannot be bothered to partner up with manufacturers like Samsung or LG or HTC which can create almost bezel-less infotainment displays and dashboard panels for them, which can be later mounted in the vehicle, with a modest at least Snapdragon 821 behind it, to offer butter smooth animations. Really a shame.
I've used the infotainment system on this car...i didn't have any boot issues...shit start up and iphone, computer, ford mustang...any of them and see. It was much quicker than my 2017 mustang
Yes it is but Dynamic also has to be actively chosen by the driver at every manual engine start. And the roller is not the easiest thing to use, because it needs a press to select, two turn clicks to choose Dynamic and then another press to select, plus the same the other way if the Comfort mode is subsequently chosen.
Bill Gountanis Yes I do own one and this plus the inconvenience of toggling the stop-start when it could easily be made to be voice activated are my only control issues, or areas I believe need improvement. Body wise there are also two and they are the wide sills [an area improved already on XC60] and better coverage by front mud flaps on the front with my 20" wheels. Mine throws vast quantities of mud up the side of the car in muddy conditions. Far more than any comparable car I own or have owned. Brilliant car otherwise. I drove 250 miles in it [three of us] yesterday.
FBA2920 Yeah it gives good power but a 4cyl in a big 3-row SUV like that seems kinda off. I know it has a supercharger and a turbocharger but it gives me and a lot others the impression that the engine is being stressed a lot to produce that output. I still stand to my opinion that it should have had a V6 in it just like the previous gen XC90. The XC60 seems okay with the 4cyl.
I would suspect that the "slow load" you're experiencing could be caused by something as small as keeping the key in the car most of the time and not letting the computers become synched. Also, 85% of the functions in these cars are voice controlled, not "knob controlled". Please do your research.
If your arms aren't strong enough to shift from Park to Drive at the 08:35 videomark, I suggest getting back in the gym and really crushing it on "biceps" and "triceps" days. ("This takes a surprising amount of effort to move the shifter"....smh).
I drive a whole lot of different automatic transmission cars and have zero difficulty with this aspect of the XC90's shifter. Its slightly more firm with a shorter throw than some, but absolutely not unduly or unusually stiff. It just feels well built.
I’ve got this new 2018 AWD SUV and I love it. I don’t agree with what this idiot is saying about this car. I love my new SUV and before you buy your next luxury SUV test drive one of these you won’t regret it!
Non linear power train it's certainly a deal breaker in car like this. Turbo lag is one thing but power surges and lows it's more remicent of a vehicle with bad engine timing
5 cylinder is not going to happen. An all-electric xc90 is due out in 2020. Volvo is looking forward, not behind them. The electric will be very close to silent and fast. However, I don't know, the car needs to have less road noise, overall. As far as going around corners, I think that's nonsense. It's a very large SUV and if BMW and Audi want to go around corners fast, well, good for them. Not necessary.
exterior - the best, interior - so so (metarials, colors are great), engine - deal breaker. And the infotainment speed is a disaster, you showed this, mostly reviewers do not - another big deal breaker.
The reviewer had no clue how to use the infotainment system and how to use the alternatives provided for use while driving. For instance there is voice control and there is a command/trip button that raises a sub screen on the right of the instrument panel that offers easy access to trip, phone, sources and channels.
this dose not make any sense because the title says that this was a 2018 car so was it made in 2018? cause if it is then this was published on 2017 how???
Your not a very focused reviewer also you are doing this review with little to no patients and you are talking the car down every chance you get it almost seems like you have to look for a con.
I just leased this car and believe me, it's worth it. It’s an amazing car !
What about it's acceleration?
allen shaji it’s good
I saw in comment saying "how much is volvo paying people to say nothing bad about them"
Honestly, the cars are just that good. I ended up with one too

The foam engine cover is also for pedestrian safety. When they hit the pedestrian, the foam reduces damage compared to a plastic cover.

Yes, I agree. One aspect of a useful review is to be objective, not subjective. His manner of review is better suited as a food/restaurant critic.
Think this guy did a great, and honest job . Well done 👍

slow entertainment system and "blocky" or laggy rev counter/speedo is absolutely unacceptable on a car that price. Its unacceptable on any car really.

Not acceptable in a Kia let alone a Volvo.
You also don’t need to hold the trunk button to open.
I just need that chime so bad
Nice. I'd love to know your thoughts on a CX-9 Signature

Huw Williams Yes but when you press the roller you can also touch the program you want

Just as inconvenient a two stage switching process, only with the switches two feet apart for goodness’ sake.

Volvo is trash now , 1990-2000 was the best cars built ever, guaranteed
really ? Here in Scandinavia the new XC60 volvo got 6 stars approving. And yes, scandinavian don t buy crap cars.
Stephanie Juric I don't like your response the Volvo is amazing
Domi Van Der Velden they are good its nothing more to say
Now is that slow boot-up because of location? You look like you're far from urban settings.
How long until you figured out all you have to do is lift the hood? lmao
