Yes Monte! This one is totally doable for regular hikers -- we'd recommend maybe a little altitude acclimation the week before because the whole 18 miles is above 9000 feet altitude, but it is so worth the effort! ❤️
Just a beautiful journey! those colours are gorgeous along with the amazing landscape 😍There is a pot of gold at the end of this walk though with the hot springs. That looks sooooooo nice. Thankyou for taking us along with you 💞
This one was so freaking great, Jeff! One of the two or three best days we've had on trail all year -- just pure joy and beauty and fun the whole way. ❤️
THIS is why I live in CO. As far as the mostly incorrect theories on bent Aspens. Avalanches can bend them over when they are still young enough to just barely not snap in half, and they get buried under snow for an entire winter, so remain arced until spring. Once bent like that, they usually never recover to grow straight. Also, when we get a heavy wet snow, when there are still leaves on the trees, it loads them up with a lot of weight, and they bend. This happens either in the spring when the Aspens have leafed out and we get a late spring snow (June), or in the fall when leaves haven't dropped yet, and we get an early snow (September/October) This just happened at my place last week, when we got 10" of HEAVY clingy snow on trees that still had leaves. I have quite a few Aspens, and have to go out with a tall pole to knock the snow off the trees before they snap. Smaller trees, will bend completely over, with their tops touching the ground, until the moment you tap them, the snow flies off, and they snap back up sort of straight. It has nothing to do with land-slides when you see a large amount of bent trees that aren't located directly in the slide.
That is some great Aspen info! So basically it could have been an avalanche or snow movement, but also it could have just been really heavy early snow warping them to the point that they're now permanently bent. Aspens are really, really cool. ❤️
for sure the best time to do anything on the trail is the fall time, temperatures are perfect, no bugs and the colours are always the best, thanks on sharing on the Colorado area of this trail, something to consider in the future.
Yes! We love hiking in the fall, but then also in the winter in popular places because not only no bugs but also we get to be literally the only ones there! The downside is that it gets really cold, but at least on this one the hot springs could take care of that! ❤️
For sure, Colby! Especially when there are no trees to hide behind, and there weren't any on that part of the trail. He was such a cool moose -- still can't believe he climbed up that almost vertical wall! ❤️
The Aspen trees are bent from the heavy avalanche activity in that area during winter. All their roots are connected so they can withstand an extreme amount of force. I got a reservation and was up for 1 night with a group of friends and the colors were spectacular!
Chris that is awesome - congratulations! We can never get those reservations for prime times, but now we're thinking of skiing in and camping in the winter! And re skiing, good info on the avalanches! ❤️

I used to see a lot of Moose around Phelps Lake in the Tetons when I would day hike up there to fish. They seemed mostly docile as long as I just walked on by them although some of them would be munching leaves in the bush and then you didn't realize you were right on top of them. So, I just ignored them and carried on with my hike. Strange enough that something called a blue grouse was on same trail all the time and he got highly annoyed with me and would puff his gills and charge at me to the point of I would have to run because I did not want to hurt him. Hot Springs are great though. Yellowstone used to have a lot of natural hot springs that you could bathe in but some tourists got boiled alive and that was the end of that. Seems like you guys have settled in at Aspen for the Autumn. It looks really nice out there. Probably like Jackson Hole a nice place to spend the holidays. Great video.
That is hilarious about the blue grouse! Ya moose are pretty chill but apparently can be dangerous in an open field, so if possible you always want a tree around to scamper behind just in case they charge. Yes we're in Colorado for fall, and then when the big snows come we're heading for warmer climates. So far it's been incredible weather here though! ❤️

So glad they started the permit system for camping up there. I heard horror stories about all the trash, beer cans, TP, etc. that the poor rangers had to pack out of there. Sadly, a lot of people don't respect their environment like we do. So cool you did it in a day hike. I haven't been there yet, but may have to try it your way- tough it out, and enjoy the reward at the halfway point!
Yes! We met some campers in the pool and they all seemed awesome and super respectful of the place, so permits were definitely a good idea. And we don't mind them anymore, because even though we never win the lotteries we're fine with going in a day and the permits mean way less crowds. Def hope you do it -- you will not regret it! ❤️
It really doesn't get much better. Not only are the fall colors incredible, but the lack of afternoon thunderstorms makes it the perfect time for CO 14ers as well. This has been one of our funnest months of hiking and climbing ever! ❤️
So cool seeing Jellybean and Pop Tart out on a trial hike! The video postcard was amazing from beginning to end! Just beautiful! So jealous!!! Thanks for sharing guys. 👍🏻 ❤️
Thanks LB! It really was like a postcard -- we couldn't believe it, and were just so grateful the whole way through for this amazing life we get to lead. Love you, and hope you're doing great!!! ❤️
Haha yes Jules! That moose was a serious climber -- we would honestly not have been able to go up that vertical cliff, and he even took a shot at the overhang at the top. A Live Hard moose for sure!!! ❤️
I am so glad you two were able to enjoy the beautiful fall in Colorado. It's like Mother Nature is putting on her final show for the year, and it is one to remember. The mountains have experienced perfect summer conditions for a fantastic show this fall. And the moose! One doesn't realize how big those animals are until you run across one in the wild. Love it!!! 😘
Oh my gosh you are so right! He was truly enormous, and thankfully we had read about not getting too close when you're out in an open field so we knew to be careful. But wow, what an impressive beast -- and of course what a beautiful place! We've never spent so long in CO before, and are absolutely loving it! ❤️
I bet the Aspens were bent from the weight of really deep snow pushing down the hillside. If you go Bridgeport behind the Twin Lakes area you can see Aspen groves that were all snapped in half at about 6 or 7 foot high from Avalanches. - You guys defiantly picked a perfectly beautiful day to go on that hike! Amazing! 😎👍🏽
Thanks Ray! Ya it seems like the consensus is that it was snow that bent the Aspens. We haven't been to Bridgeport yet, but def will go sometime soon because we've heard it's utterly gorgeous! ❤️
🎨 🤍 Top Top vlog as always Adam & Elise. Moose must be acquainted with your exploits, attempting to impress, climbing that steep slope :) 11,000 ft ! Great job guys ☀️ ❤ 🦌🦌
Haha yes John! That moose impressed the heck out of us -- it's hard to tell on camera but that slope was darn near vertical, and the part he couldn't get over was actually a huge overhang! He was quite an awesome beast! ❤️
Those aspen are so beautiful! I hope you're able to visit Ontario in the fall some time. We dont have tall mountains, but we have the most incredible wide spectrum of fall colours. Some of out trees glow magenta just like those aspens glow yellow in the sun - we have aspens too. Some of our maples will have like 5 vibrant colours on one tree! Alonquin Provincial Park is the most well known for fall tourism, but Killarney Provincial Park is my favourite and holds a special place in my heart. Killarney is very rocky so the full rainbow of fall colour is interlaced with white and also pink granite and more lakes than you can count. Its just spectacular.
Jessica we would love that! It is very possible we could visit next fall, as we are contemplating an autumn road trip out east specifically to experience the fall colors! ❤️
Fantastic fall colors.. Just amazing Elise and beautiful... Nice bath in hot water... Me I am not at 11000 feet but just sea level and also in very warm water. Have a great evening Elise... 😘🤗👌
Thanks very much, Elif -- we were definitely feeling like that the whole day, just very happy with the life choices that led us to that amazing place!! ❤️
Yes Geoffrey moose actually kill more people than bears! They're awesome animals and usually very chill, but if they feel threatened they will charge and they're just so darn big and strong that it ends up being really dangerous unless you have trees to duck behind. But out in the open, never mess with a moose! ❤️
WOW WOW WOW to all the Fall color! And same with the permit lotteries. Ive been trying to score a permit for a hike in Northern Arizona/Southern Utah for years without luck!
Mary those permit lotteries are so frustrating! Is there any way you can do the hike in the offseason? Our solution has mostly just been to go offseason or for the camping ones just do it all in a single day so no need to camp. But we still keep trying, and one day we're actually going to win one of those lotteries and do a popular hike during prime time! ❤️
Thanks Paul! When we were hiking back, just luxuriating in the fall sunlight and the gorgeous colors after an hour in the hot springs, we were like, "can you believe we get to do this kind of thing every single week?" Feeling very grateful. ❤️
Thanks for sharing those beautiful fall colors from Colorado! If you two get a chance, consider visiting Kyoto, especially around Arashiyama, for the autumn foliage and the iconic bamboo grove. Plan for at least five days to fully enjoy Kyoto’s sights and its amazing tofu dishes. There is currently a super cheap direct flight from LAX to Tokyo via UA for only $524 (11/4-11/11) roundtrip. 🙂
Oh my gosh Robert, we would love to go to Kyoto! Next year we'd like to try to get over to the Himalayas too, so that could be an excellent stop along the way! ❤️
I'm at 3:37 into the video, and the moose sure got some exercise and muscle strengthening trying to climb that slippery dirt hill. That must have been good for it, and I was glad to see it do something healthy like that.
Haha yes! That was a seriously badass moose. The camera didn't really show it but that cliff it was climbing was darn near vertical. He got his exercise in for sure! ❤️
Here's hoping for lots of snow for you, Harlan! We booked a one month stay in Tahoe in January with the same idea -- hopefully we'll all be able to get our ski on! ❤️
Like always ,they mountains are so beautiful as the trees look amazing. Did you guys meet on the trail and fell in love. Thank you for not trying to take a selfie with the moose😊😊😊😊😊😂
Haha we would have loved to get close to the moose but have heard too many stories about people spooking them and winding up dead, so def no selfies! We met in Vegas, but on our second date Adam took me on a hike as a test. I guess I passed! ❤️ --E
Yes we were all alone on the trail for pretty much the whole day! Of course there were a few campers at the hot spring, but they were very nice and had some great tips for us on other cool CO hikes. Believe it or not we actually just hiked back to the trailhead (to take it easy on our lower backs), though you are right that it would be an absolutely perfect trail run. ❤️
Thanks for cheering on Mr Moose. So much to see....so much to admire. Yes, the golden gorgeousness is very distracting. Soooo much beauty......SO much. Sniff.
Definitely didn't "look" like 11,000 ft. The colors from the snow capped mountains, to the golden aspens, was just spectacular! Usually I cringe at A's snack spot, but even a noob like me, could handle this one! A Pop Tart and an IPA if you ask me 🍺😎👍!!
Haha yes! There were some campers there who had brought full-on wine flasks and they were loving life. Next time I think we'll try to ski in during winter, and will for sure bring a beverage to enjoy in the tub! ❤️
Some hike! Loved that moose. I think snow loads can have an impact and cause at least some of the bending, especially on steeper slopes and higher up (more snow load and for longer). Just a guess. I skied into Conundrum Hot Springs one winter on a cold day, man did that water feel GREAT! Nice to see you all hitting the Fall Colors close to peak!
Paul that is freaking awesome that you skied in there! That just became a new goal for us. We have vowed to try to up our ski mountaineering game this winter, and skiing to Conundrum would be epic!! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard You will love ski mountaineering. As fit and as athletic as you all are, you will be able to cover LOTs more terrain than with snowshoes and have a LOT more fun. And coming down will be faster and a helluva lot more fun 🤣. If you get back to CO, happy to show ya a few good places.
Oh my gosh that moose was such a badass! The cliff was very nearly vertical, and he made it all the way to the last 10 feet but never could have made that last section because it was significantly overhung! Can't even believe he tried it -- that was one bold moose! 🫎💪
@@LiveHardxLoveHard oh I agree! I was surprised he got as far as he did but it made me sad when I saw him struggle and slide. I just wanted to know if he took a different way and eventually got up to the top👍🏼
My gawd. And despite its popularity, you had it to yourselves, surrounded by the splendor of the Rockies in Autumn.. Price: an 18 mile day. That’s nothin’ for you guys. Your trail karma is alive and well.
Yes Charles! We did not get the final hot spring all to ourselves because there were some campers there that had come out the day before, but they were super nice. And we were completely alone on all the rest of the trail other than that spectacular moose. It really was wonderful, and the trail Karma is strong for sure! ❤️
Oh my gosh we were too Jane, but what you couldn't see on camera was that he had no chance because the cliff was actually very overhung at the top. But what a badass climber that moose was for even trying! ❤️
So glad you liked it! We're just using our GoPro and our iPhone like usual, but the landscape here in Colorado is so spectacular that it's almost impossible to take a bad shot! ❤️
Yes! This was pleasure hiking at its finest, and we were so happy to take you guys along with us. One of the most enjoyable days we've ever had on trail, beginning to end! ❤️
Haha I'm not gonna lie, I think that moose might have been my spirit animal. I could not believe it when I saw him climbing that vertical face -- you prob couldn't tell from the camera, but that thing was nearly straight up. I could not have climbed it, but that moose was a badass! --A
Threw photo arrays on here. Hollar if any get your attention want directions but you have already been there lol. I did watch that Matterhorn clip. Holy Sht.
We were just using our iPhone, but unfortunately it was so early in the morning that the video didn't come out great due to the low light. But still, what a moose! ❤️
Hallo friends! Bent trees could indicate an area that had a landslip, after which the trees would change their direction of growth. The earthen slope that moose was trying to scale looked like it could have been caused by a recent slip/slide.
Oh my gosh Liam when we hiked back down we took a good look at that cliff face the moose was on and it was very nearly vertical -- much more so than it looked on camera. Super impressed with that moose and his climbing abilities! ❤️
There was no Rocky to be seen, but Bulwinkle was super impressive! It was prob hard to tell from the camera, but he was scaling a near-vertical face and the part he couldn't get up was actually overhung! ❤️
So we were thinking wind as well, but according to the Coloradans here it's from the weight of the snow bending the trees -- possibly even through an avalanche! Which is good to know, because we're thinking of trying to ski out the hot springs at some point. ❤️
Mother Nature rules. So gorgeous! When I was in the Tetons, saw moose every day. Unless it’s mating season, they leave you alone but I always kept my distance anyway. So beautiful in Colorado now. Thank you so much for sharing! Love all your adventures!🦇🦃🐾⛄️🥰🦉🍁🍂
That's good to know about moose, Mary, thank you. Mating season is in the spring, right? But yeah, that guy was so big and strong that we definitely didn't want to get to close or antagonize him at all. Such an amazing creature -- still can't believe he was scaling that almost vertical cliff! ❤️
The aspen trees show mass wasting of the slopes, due to the freeze and thaw at high elevations. The tree wants to maintain its position by growing straight up, while the root mass is going down hill, in slow motion.

It doesn't get much better than Fall in Colorado!
Another great vid....thanks.
That was a Live Hard Moose ! Great trail. Love to you two 💕
Haha yes Jules!
Thanks for sharing the fabulous scenery with us.
Our pleasure, Mickey! Very glad it came through for you on camera -- in person it was like looking at art!
Wow guys that is gorgeous!!! I visited Colorado a few years ago and I can't wait to return one day.
Yes Stef! We are the same way. We come back every year now, and it seems like for longer each time because it is just so spectacular here! ❤️
🎨 🤍
Top Top vlog as always Adam & Elise.
Moose must be acquainted with your exploits, attempting to impress, climbing that steep slope :)
11,000 ft ! Great job guys
☀️ ❤
🦌🦌
I love you guys! Don't ever leave Colorado!
Thanks Arturo! We're having so much fun here, and will definitely be spending at least a few months a year here in the future! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Epic videos make me love living here.
You guys tread tons of miles!
Very Very impressive!
Fantastic fall colors.. Just amazing Elise and beautiful... Nice bath in hot water... Me I am not at 11000 feet but just sea level and also in very warm water. Have a great evening Elise... 😘🤗👌
Serge so glad to hear that you're enjoying the warm Cuban vacation waters! Hope you're getting lots of great relaxation in!! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard yeah it's very relaxing Elise.. Thanks so much.. 🤗
So beautiful!! You really know how to live ❤
Thanks very much, Elif -- we were definitely feeling like that the whole day, just very happy with the life choices that led us to that amazing place!! ❤️
Wow...that is a great hike. Be safe.
Thanks Robert! This one really is special and pretty unforgettable -- and we'll for sure keep it safe! ❤️
Nice baby blue hiking shoes Elise. At first, I thought you were hiking in Uggs.
Haha no these are my new Salomons -- loving them so far! ❤️ --E
wow just loving the beautiful fall colours, are moose dangerous.
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Permits are required even for day use and all year. I get why, but it’s been years!!
@@maryberrie1 Oh my gosh we feel your pain! ❤
Amazing on every level….❤
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Yes, maybe almost a bit like a mountain goat. LOL
I'm jealous, you guys get to hang out in the mountains all the time! I'll be in Beaver Creek in Dec, hopefully it will snow enough to ski!
Beautiful hike and day! Looks like you had it all to yourselves. I imagine you both ran all the way back to the trailhead?
Yes we were all alone on the trail for pretty much the whole day! Of course there were a few campers at the hot spring, but they were very nice and had some great tips for us on other cool CO hikes. Believe it or not we actually just hiked back to the trailhead (to take it easy on our lower backs), though you are right that it would be an absolutely perfect trail run. ❤️
Hi Adam sbd Elise,!!
Love your adventures and I lifestyle!!
MN Dave ❤🎉😂😅😅❤
Thanks Dave! Hope all's well in MN -- I remember the beautiful falls there, and hope it's golden and lovely and not too cold yet! ❤️
Thanks for cheering on Mr Moose. So much to see....so much to admire. Yes, the golden gorgeousness is very distracting. Soooo much beauty......SO much. Sniff.
So happy to share it with you, Steve! That moose was so freaking cool. The cliff he was going up was very nearly vertical. What a place!!! ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard You two bring so much beauty to so many.
@@PaulBeiser So stoked for it! We will of course let you know if we get back to CO in the winter! ❤
Looks gnarly and dangerous😅
Haha the toughest thing that got climbed in this one was that vertical cliff face that the moose went up -- he was a serious badass! 😂
😍
What a place!! ❤️
As beautiful as the scenery and as stunning as the color of the leaves, my attention was firmly in wanting to know if the moose made it up the hill
@@prowrestlingisart6742 We bailed when he started back down, so we assume he just walked along the river and found an easier way up.
@@LiveHardxLoveHard that is what I told myself. He tried so hard that he deserved to succeed. But I’m glad you stayed a safe distance away
I was rooting that the moose would make it up.
Oh my gosh we were too Jane, but what you couldn't see on camera was that he had no chance because the cliff was actually very overhung at the top. But what a badass climber that moose was for even trying! ❤️
What are you using to film?-HOLY crap - That was like real 3d experience
So glad you liked it! We're just using our GoPro and our iPhone like usual, but the landscape here in Colorado is so spectacular that it's almost impossible to take a bad shot! ❤️
An epic trail with an epic soak! Thanks for taking us along!
Yes! This was pleasure hiking at its finest, and we were so happy to take you guys along with us. One of the most enjoyable days we've ever had on trail, beginning to end! ❤️
Beware the grumpy moose! When he sees someone as permanently cheerful as Adam, he resents that🦒!
Haha I'm not gonna lie, I think that moose might have been my spirit animal. I could not believe it when I saw him climbing that vertical face -- you prob couldn't tell from the camera, but that thing was nearly straight up. I could not have climbed it, but that moose was a badass! --A
@@LiveHardxLoveHardI think you easily outmoose a moose! 🏔️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard When he saw too cheerful Dad coming along - spirited even despite lack of oxygen - cliff or no cliff he had to vamoose🫎😉
Way better than Blanco. 😅 Had Moose walk 8 feet from me at Teton. Walked into mom and calf on Death Canyon.
Weather staying warmer is gift.
Awesome about the mama and baby moose, and totally agree about the weather. A gift! ❤️
Threw photo arrays on here. Hollar if any get your attention want directions but you have already been there lol.
I did watch that Matterhorn clip. Holy Sht.
What kind of camera were u using when filming the moose?
I see you met Bulwinkle. Was Rocky with him? 😆
There was no Rocky to be seen, but Bulwinkle was super impressive! It was prob hard to tell from the camera, but he was scaling a near-vertical face and the part he couldn't get up was actually overhung! ❤️
Adam and Elise "Mythical"! Dean(Soul)
Yes Dean! This place was definitely designed to elevate the spirit as well as the body. ❤️
@LiveHardxLoveHard You Guy's are "Too Cool " but thanks! Dean( Soul)
WEATHER IS G for another week!! Use it or lose it!
Yes! It snowed here last weekend, but we still feel like we can get one more 14er in this weekend. ❤️
Just a guess, but I think those trees are bent by the wind.
That is great stuff, John -- thank you! I think we learn more from you guys on this channel than from everything we read put together! ❤️
Aspen trees bend because of the wind.
Thanks George! We knew you guys would have the answer. ❤️
A Møøse once bit my sister... No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Mølars of Horst Nordfink"
But seriously...great vid again! Love the colors and the trip to nature's spa. The glow of the sun was such a treat to see.
Haha wow Thomas, a Monty Python reference -- nice! It really was gorgeous there, and thankfully our moose was a climber rather than a biter 😂
All by yourselves at a remote hotspring ...and your wearing bathing suits?? What, are you from California?
Haha we were all alone on the hike but not at the hot springs. There were a few overnight campers there, but everyone was super nice. ❤️
This was a perfectly magnificent stroll in paradise park for you two - nothing gnarly🎲🎲 at all🏞️
Truth! It was 18 miles of pure pleasure -- one of the most enjoyable hikes we've done all year for sure, and we've had a lot of nice ones! ❤️
