Good God, with 101 unused levels, they could make an entirely "new" NSMB game. It's actually crazy how much there was to cover here. It also goes to show how *involved* the process of porting the game to the Switch was. I imagine the situation went a little something like this: Nintendo Employee: Hey, boss, we've finished porting all of the game's levels into the Switch hardware. Boss: Excellent. A few unused levels won't be an issue. No one will even find out about them. Now, let's get this game on store shelves! I want my staff pizza party! Employee: Right... we'll do that. - End Scene -
Dank Meme and then they find Skawo peeking through the source code of the game to find the forbidden 101 levels. That actually would’ve been funny and a bit sad because they might make a patch update to the game.
Alt Employee: But sir if we had more time- Boss: I DON'T PAY YOU TO DELAY STUFF JUST TO ADD MEANINGLESS S***T! - 101 unused levels - Hidden levels inside those levels - 20+ minute video - Only the first five get covered ... Oh man this’ll be a nice “series” to follow.
I'm assuming how she makes the game easier (peachette and extra time). If you play with 4 players, someone has to play as her, which might ruin it for some people. Maybe.
@@nediah how would it ruin the game by not playing, peachette is a special super acorn and levels are already 500 seconds so it's really just another character, except Luigi u which I understand why you would want an extra 100 seconds
Wyatt Polaska but Toadette adds you 100 seconds to the timer which sucks. And in Luigi U it’s sucks since it reduces the challenge Plus the super crown is the worst and most confusing shit Nintendo has ever made
It's cool to see concepts and content that weren't really meant to be seen. These concepts gave me a couple of ideas for potential levels that could be made.
The area at 14:30 is shockingly reminiscent of a section of Angry Spikes and Sinkin' Pipes in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Am I the only one who thinks the devs shelved the idea but found it to work a lot better with how much more flexible Wonder's engine is?
Christopher Moon Why do I see yo everywhere??? Are you the new Justin y? And yeah the game ended up disappointing, this game could’ve added soo much more levels, with all these new functions like the geysers, but it’s just a P O R T ...
It's a shame some of these concepts went unused, seeing as how they probably could have easily reworked some of these level concepts and gimmicks in the final release.
STUDIOCRAFTapps How does a port of a game with its main emphasis being simplicity, basic-ness, and accessibility that was made specifically for casual audiences who had no Wii U have has much ambition as Super Mario Odyssey?
Yeah and this game would've been WAY more interesting if they used them. Instead we get the most generic Mario game to date. Again I don't mind this game that much as other people, but that doesn't mean that I don't feel bad for them
i have a feeling that each level was basically each programmer/team/designer's little area to make stuff and test it without interfering with anyone else's work so i imagine there was a lot more stuff in these levels through out the development
This reminds me of another situation. Originally, the 2011 Sonic CD port was going to have stage called “Desert Dazzle” but was cut from the game due to Sega wanting the port to be as close to the original game. Idk why Nintendo left these stages. Possibly in the near future, they will release a pack with all of these 101 stages
I don’t think they will realest a pack with these stages. If Mario maker 2 is as good as it’s expected to be, it won’t come out. There’s no point in paying for extra levels when you can pay one price for thousands of player made levels, and make your own.
So you mean to tell me that each level in NSMBU gets three sublevels, but in Mario Maker 2, we only get one? Feels like Nintendo's purposely skimping on us here
"CARL!!! You left a bunch of unused levels in the game!" "Sorry sir, I'll take em' right out!" (See 0:45 - He mentions unpaid interns, and guess who just popped into my head at that moment.)

Was it an accident or done to artificially increase the game size to look like the port had more content? _dramatic music_ This is really weird though, there must've been a lack of communication either from the project having little oversight or people being scared to question their bosses because 50 Unused Levels is insane to port over, much less 100. I wonder what other sort of beta/unused stuff was ported over. Has there actually been confirmation that the regular levels are 1-to-1 ports? Maybe with them being viewable in a level editor, comparisons can be made to see if anything is different.
It's very interesting to know that this game has 101 unused levels, that's insane, even if many were only test levels for used or unused concepts, I still find it very excessive, I mean, one could make an entire new entry with that many levels

They're not so much 'unused' levels from the game, but test levels used by the devs to test certiain game mechanics - not all of which made it into the final game!
It makes sense that the developers of the deluxe port forgot to remove the unused levels. When Nintendo released the port the original release of the game was nearly 10 years old, so yeah. (It still is but you know what I mean lol.)
