I love seeing the little "light bulbs" go off in Marisa's head when she suddenly understands something being explained to her. The enthusiasm is palpable :-)
Congrats Marisa on your first kit. Daniel: It would be great to hear your thoughts on comparing the xplor 300 directly to some of your profoto gear considering you are very familiar with your profoto stuff.
This was fun as always Professor Norton! I would be great to observe you teaching Ms. Roper how to photograph people outdoors on location awhile tackling the creative challenges of working with ambient light mixed with flash (and dealing with controlling backgrounds). Thanks again!
I'm continuing to enjoy this series and Marisa's genuine reaction to the waterdrop or multistrobe suggestions that Daniel mentioned. I imagine I had that same look when I discovered new techniques or equipment features.
Marisa, the easy way to think of flash duration is, the Capacitor inside is like a bucket, the more full, the Longer it takes to fill, after it is emptied, the less full you want the bucket, the quicker it fills (to that desired level).
i would love to see you do a one light shoot with the 100watt godox / flashpoint and show what you can do with and tells abt the good and bad sides of it also :-) awesome video as always Daniel
I think the reflective umbrella will focus the light a little more where the shoot through will throw the lite all over and maybe have more of a hot spot.....
Great lighting for an very reasonable price. I’ve got the AD200s and V1s. Very portable and more than adequate for a majority of situations. Really enjoying these mentoring videos and Marissa is the perfect student 👍👍
❤Love the Flashpoint lights! Great value for the money. I'll use two 200s for kickers/background. One or two 300s for hair/rim and one 600 as key. Gel the 200s for some interesting background effects. Glow soft boxes and strip lights are quick and easy. I used to wrestle 15 minutes with the ribs...and the mount...and the box with the old-style soft boxes. "Follow Marissa", makes me laugh... I may not be a great leader among men, but I am a follower of beautiful women! 🤩 the movie-star she is 😊 Thanks for these GREAT videos. I learn a lot, especially with stuff I already have.
The big exception to the lower power / faster flash duration is Paul C Buff units. ALSO, if you noticed, your full power sync is 1/220. If you use a camera with a sync speed of 1/250, you DO NOT get full power, because part of the flash is still going while the shutter is closed.
I'm pretty sure it does as some of the smaller flashes/speedlights like the Godox 860 or whatever the # is. I seen a wildlife bird photographer do it & the multi flash gave two different wing positions in one hummingbird photo. Cool photo.
I emailed you a while back and you said this series was in the works so I am looking forward to what I can learn about the new gear I recently purchased from the worlds best camera store, Adorama!
I started using the Godox Speedlite and RE trigger a few months ago, and am always having a problem with syncing them consistently. The R2 setup is frustrating. What is the simple workflow for ensuring this should be the least of my problems 🤔
Not sure the answer you're looking for, but if I had to guess, I'd say the shoot-through is effectively a larger light source, but more likely to get a hotspot?
It's a great light setup. The only thing I wish is Godox would come out with a Godox mount strip light. The color on is came out as better than the b10 Profoto. A friend ran them and a bunch more in a lab to see who had the best consistent color. Broncolor Scoro was first. Godox 300 was second Profoto b10 were close behind the Godox. Elinchrom was way down the list. Toss in a few Ad100's for kickers and you have an easy to travel with 5 light kit.
I bought an Interfit light kit a couple of years ago. I started with the Honeybadger Unleashed then got the S1s. I did the firmware update when I purchased my Nikon Z7II. Apparently the firmware was for the Z7 as now my remote is not working well with my lights. Just to check I dragged out my Nikon D810 and everything works perfect. I'm so disappointed in Interfit and am wondering if I should sell it off and start over. I'm really frustrated now and don't know what to do. If I do go with another system how do I know it will be compatible with my Nikon Z7II? I did send a message to Interfit but I won't hear from them until next week. I'm at a loss as to what I should do. Any suggestions you have would be very much appreciated. Thanks!!!
Why didn’t you just purchase 15 value village umbrellas so you could charge whole bunches of equipment charges to the customer? Charge for those bodega reflectors as well.

The top team is getting prepared!

Yes! Flashpoint because Adorama is WAYYYYYYYYYYY better than the rest in NYC. Love you Adorama

Love the playfulness of this keep it up :)
Fun and informative as always!

Marisa speaks ❤ and sounds very much like she's picked up a lot already 😁
Great video!
It will be interesting to see the results from her new kit. Thanks Daniel and Marisa 😎👍🇨🇦
Please make this a series! I’m buying the soft box kit + trigger.. will need lots of mentoring 😝

Good stuff!
Thanks, some great tips as always
Yay! :)
I will be interested in seeing Marissa learn with this equipment. I have a feeling I might learn something too!

A shoot through umbrella has a hot spot and spreads more. It's also possible to bring it closer to the subject and therefore it could be softer.

This fantastic! Thank you. I use godox and this tip marking the light ist great.

I ❤️ Marisa.
Nice! Keep practicing, Marisa! I'm sure you already know how lucky you are to have Daniel as a mentor. Carry on! :)
Awesome video thanks

it'd be great to see two of you do some splash food photography
I'm curious if the AD200 does multipop. I haven't explored that yet... Can't wait to see more stuff from you two, coming up!

A freezing action would be a great video to see, you should definitely do that.

Because using it with diffusion basically turns it into a soft box... Which will have different light spread that a shoot through umbrella.

Just curious about how often do you have to change the flash tube on a strobe like these.
rock it!

Guys, the mentioned - Godox AD-S60S Umbrella Style 60cm Softbox w/Grid for XPLOR 400Pro XPLOR 300Pro LED ML60 is *NO LONGER AVAILABLE at Adorama*
I'm using roughly the same trigger, I think mine is the mark I. Can't say what channel I'm on mainly because I have CRS. ;-7

Marissa should be a photographer in her own right.
Marisa is a photographer in her own right 😊
So Daniel does know how to have fun. LOL I used to think you were such a Daniel Downer. or Daniel the Serious photographer LOL
Where is the info for the light kit and Marisa.
great kit, I hope she sticks with photography for a while. That's a lot of investment.
No hot spot with the silver umbrella with diffusion
More like a softbox

Why use Green tape...Yuk Yuk ! Great vid
Umbrellas spread the light more than a dissysion
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍
